Welcome to Mavros’s Timing It Plot!
Mavros needs dragons. The twin golds are sent back in time for their maiden Flights in order to bring forward two clutches worth of dragons nearly ready to join the Wings. Most (if not all) candidates, several support staff, and most of the Spring Storms class and a few other riders are sent with them, to transport everyone and everything and to help for the duration of the stay back in time.
As the Pass goes on, Threadfall happens more and more frequently, and Mavros only has the bare minimum amount of dragonriders to fight it NOW, much less more frequently. With 5 golds, that’s promising, but they could use a boost in numbers NOW, to at least help them get one more Wing together for relief. So the decision is made to take a calculated risk.
In current time, they will leave at dawn and return at dusk on the same day. Back in time, they will have been gone for around 18 months (a turn and a half), going back in time when the twins are 23 months old, giving the Timers around a month to get themselves set up in pre-settled Mavros before the twins rise, 5 turns before the onset of the Pass (so about 11 turns back in time). They will make the trip back to current time when the new weyrlings are 13 months old, meaning they will have been practicing Betweening for two months.
It was decided to bring them forward then for several reasons, including the fact that no firestone is being sent back so the weyrlings will have no way to practice flaming, and there are several other parts of their training during the later months of weyrlinghood that they would not be able to do back in time, and also the fact that if they stayed until the weyrlings were ready to graduate, the twins might rise again before they return, which would be problematic on several fronts.
Since the Timers are going back to pre-settled Mavros, conditions will be stark. Dragons will have to hunt for their food and also bring food back for the hatchlings and humans alike. Hunting should take place only in the Western or Eastern Isles and not over any mainland. Fishing and foraging will be the only other real options for food, after supplies run out. There will be no herdbeasts, as they all came over on the ships with the Mavros settlers. Wild felines and whers also inhabit Mavros, so no one should be going into the forest alone, without a weapon and/or dragon.
Some marks will be sent back as well; should the group be in dire need of something, a greenrider can be sent to purchase whatever is needed under the guise of being from another Weyr, but this should be a last resort. Remember come Hatching day, there is no way up to the Hatching Cavern but on dragonback. No firestone or flamethrowers are being sent back, but the adult riders will still be expected to do some semblance of drills so they are still ready to return to fighting upon their return to the present. A’zael is giving T’lyron the task of overseeing drills while back in time.
We will be roleplaying the events happening back in time at the same time as current events, so we don’t have to pause current time and basically be unable to play any characters not going back for what will likely be several months IRL. There will be a specific board for roleplaying in the past to keep things separate and organized, so no one gets confused about what is happening when.
*Only the Wingleaders, Goldriders, the Headwoman and her assistant will know anything about the plan until 4th month. Please keep this in mind and do not reference any other character knowing about it during Current Time unless you have gotten permission for them to have been told.

- A’zael visits Lord Reageren of Charin for news from the Turn’s End Conclave, learning of Northern sympathy after the Betweens at the last Hatching, and also visits the new Lord Degranik of Jask, informing both of Mavros’s alliance with Lord Divano of Tidewalk.
- Threadfall Test.
- Talera visits Igen to meet with Weyrwoman Hallon.

CT Turn 6, Month 2
- A’zael and Srunae bring the Timing It idea to the other goldriders and wingleaders, along with proof that it worked with the discreet message Srunae leaves in the past, telling them how many eggs the twins have on the Sands. An agreement is reached, plans are made to prepare a group to time back come 5th Month.
-It is decided to keep the plan secret to avoid mass dissent over the risk, which could jeopardize the entire endeavor.
-It is decided no brownriders will go, in order to ensure larger clutches.
-A list of possible Timers is drawn up, but inquiries to possible participants will not be made until closer to the planned date of departure to prevent the secret getting out.
-Supplies begin to be sequestered to a location on the far side of the island in small amounts, so as not to draw attention, under the cover of trade. (The Headwoman and her Assistant are aware of the reality.) - Champions of Legend Clutch have their first manned flights, weyr assignments are made. M’kal of Bronze Draveth and T’vir of Blue Brauth remain in the barracks as punishment for earlier actions in 1st month and are still grounded.

- Threadfall over the Western Continent.
CT Turn 6, Month 4
- Inquiries are made to determine who will agree to go, with the exact date of departure being withheld until confirmation of participation is given.
- A’zael asks T’lyron to take up leadership of the Timing It group, in conjunction with Srunae.
- Supplies continue to be sequestered to a location on the far side of the island in small amounts, so as not to draw attention, under the cover of trade.
CT Turn 6, Month 5
- Candidates are told the night before departure and given the option to stay or go. They are confined to the barracks until departure, whether they choose to go or not.
- The Timing group gathers discreetly, meeting at the far side of the island where the supplies have been stashed, load their dragons with cargo, and leave at first light.
- The Mavros dragons react with varying degrees of confusion/panic (dependent on the dragon’s personality) because an entire group of dragons suddenly disappeared from their mental radar. There will be no keening, for whatever reason it will not feel the same as a death to them, but they won’t know why they suddenly can barely feel many of their Weyrmates. The secret is out now!
Chaos at Mavros, mostly.A’zael gives the Weyr a thorough explanation.- The Timers return at dusk.
