News The twin golds Sularenth and Danovelith, along with a small group of riders, staff, and candidates, all too part in a secret mission to travel back in time and bring forth two clutches worth of dragons soon to join the ranks of Mavros's Wings. In the chaos of their disappearance, the Weyrwoman Karredy caused quite a scene, bringing her mental stability into question. After a meeting of the goldriders, it was decided that Karredy should step down from her position due to her health and Mavros awaits the next gold to rise and take her place as Senior.
Many weyrfolk and holders go to the weyr caverns when in search of a hot meal, rather than preparing their food ration independently. The dining cavern is large, and the caves used for cooking are equipped with shuttered smokeholes and iron ovens: with islanders streaming in at all hours, the kitchen is busy long into the night.
A large open cavern not far from the kitchens and dining cavern, the Weyr Commons has a lounge area with more comfortable furniture on one side and an arrangement of tables on the other where traders visiting the island often set up their wares.
Children born to riders and weyrfolk are raised communally in the creche from an early age. Old aunties and formally trained lower caverns workers alike share duties here, along with groups of candidates or unoccupied weyrbrats.
