Srunae :: Gold Danovelith
The day dawned with blue skies and a slew of puffy white clouds, the sun’s warmth gently brushing past the puffy things to illuminate the clutch already upon the sands of Mavros’ past. Now it was time for the second one.
Srunae My Own, it is time.
Srunae stirred at the touch of urgency across their bond, her eyes opening, then closing over a quiet yawn. Time… Time for… The brunette suddenly shot up as realization dawned on her, the sun just cresting the black cliffs as if to herald her thoughts. Your eggs! The junior nearly fell out of bed, blankets tangled around her legs as she rushed to get up and throw something on. Sularenth had gone up to the hatching caverns the night prior, the larger Queen taking the lead as she often did, while Danovelith waited patiently for her sister to settle in.
Come along then, Danovelith hummed, allowing her Srunae a moment to climb atop her back before she gracefully (or as gracefully as the egg-heavy gold could manage) winged her way off to the hatching caverns herself. While Srunae slid off her dragon’s back, Danovelith spared a moment to greet her beloved golden sister with a gentle, well-meant hello. Moments later the pale gold shifted into an almost trance-like state, settling into the space afforded to her with no complaint. The smaller gold dug, shifted, rolled, and rearranged wordlessly while Srunae watched with deep interest. One… two… three…
It is done. Danovelith conceded at last, her usually sunny, elated voice thick with exhaustion. The lithe gold allowed herself a moment’s pause before once again moving an egg to another position. At last seemingly satisfied, the queen settled onto the sands to relax near her clutch – her dear children. Dragon and rider shared a wave of happiness and encouragement, looking over the whole of Danovelith's clutch at last - it was nearly noontime when she finally finished, and Srunae was pleased with the results – settled in a loose circle before her dragon was a lovely clutch of twelve eggs. The beastcrafter saw no reason to lament the size of the clutch – between the two maiden Queens there was easily twenty-five eggs – and that neither of them were able to blood properly before their flights was reason enough to not expect massive clutches out of either of them. Srunae pulled out a hide and, much like Melana had done the evening before, began to note down each egg.
Jagged Egg, Scratched Egg
One of the larger eggs in the clutch, the Jagged Egg is darker in color and has several pale, jagged markings on its shell. Similar in size to the Jagged Egg, the Scratched Egg is paler in color, with a dark marking that looks almost like some creature scored its claws across the shell.
Tall Egg, Capped Egg
These eggs sit together companionably. The Tall Egg is larger, sits upright, and perhaps looks taller than it really is thanks to how skinny it is in comparison with the rest of its siblings, while the Capped Egg is average in size and capped by a large, dark marking encircling the top of the shell.
Crested Egg, Speckled Egg, Ringed Egg
Average in size, the Crested Egg has a thin, pale mark stretching over the top of the shell. The Ringed Egg is slightly smaller and has pale rings encircling the shell. Between the two, the even smaller Speckled Egg sits, peppered with tiny speckles all over its surface.
Dappled Egg
One of the smaller eggs in the clutch, it has several dappled markings spread across the shell. It sits on its own, but its siblings are still nearby.
Bright Egg, Plain Egg
These small eggs sit in contrast to each other. The Bright Egg is so pale it's almost white; it really stands out in the clutch. On the other hand, the Plain Egg has a very average appearance and doesn't stand out at all, especially next to its more noticeable sibling.
Tiny Egg
This egg is ridiculously small. It's hard to imagine there's even a dragon inside. It appears to sit near the center of the clutch, as if all its larger siblings are trying to protect it.
Lonely Egg
This egg sits rather far away from its clutchmates for some reason. It is average sized.
