The eastern sea cliffs are honeycombed with natural caverns, which are slowly being converted for use as dragon weyrs. Accommodations are spartan: the dragons must sleep on stone, there is no running water, and a few caverns don't even have ledges suitable for landing on. Only certain weyrs are accessible by ground, and almost everyone has a roommate, or "weyr-fellow", to share space with.
A number of natural cave systems riddle the sea cliffs which enclose the waters of Mavros Bay. Fishercrafters have claimed the caves in the eastern arm of the cliffs, while the weyr occupies the more numerous systems on the west side.
The weyrhold's beastcrafters have taken up full time residence in a system of dry caves in the Eastern Plateau. From there, they can oversee the animal enclosures more closely, and better fulfill their work. Most crafters and holders who are not directly affiliated with the weyr or with the Fishcraft have chosen to join them, since the fisher caverns are rather damp and unpleasant to live in.
The hatching cavern is located on the slopes of Mount Chariath, and its sands are naturally heated. The minecrafters at Mavros have recently finished creating the path up, so you are no longer required to be ferried up on dragonback (though it is still far quicker).
The top of the Eastern Plateau. Accessible by a rough, rocky path at its lowest point: this clearance was widened recently into a slope by the island's stone-crafters, to allow the ascent of half-grown dragons on foot.
The weyr's herds are kept in fields close to the beasthold. At night, a watchdragon stands guard, when whers cannot be spared from their stone-crafting work to patrol the perimeter. The risk of felines raiding from within the Red Wood is a real one.
The massive conifers which grow on Mavros cover the larger portion of the island and grow up the slopes of Mount Chariath. In the mornings they are wreathed in mist: in the afternoons, sunlight filters down between red branches to the forest floor far below. Felines lurk within: entering deeply into the wood without reason is officially forbidden, though not all islanders adhere to the rule.

The Far Western Continent is part of Mavros's protectorate, with a handful of small cotholds, two minor holds, and one major hold that were established before the onset of the Pass. The continent is split by the Western Channel, a narrow strip of water that divides the continent into the Western and Eastern Territories, respectively.
Welcome to Mavros Weyrhold; we are the pariah of Pern.
Founded on a desire to prepare for early Threadfall against the wishes of complacent Interval hierarchy, Mavros burned before it could be built - and yet the weyr struggles on.
Plagued by inexperienced leadership, cast out by the other Weyrs, and supplied by amoral means, the 'Rogue Weyr' survives upon a legacy rooted in a Dragonrider's honor and duty to their beholden. Will you risk it all for an uncertain future and aid the struggling society? Or will you too turn a blind eye upon your fellow rider?
10th Pass, 5th Turn | 12th Month, Winter: Winter is rolling into full swing, and with the complete onset of the season comes Mavros' Turnover Celebration!
This turn's Gather is a particularly big bash, as the Spring Storms Weyrlings' Graduation Ceremony is being rolled into it! Congratulations Spring Storms, bet you all are glad to be free of K'ton, and I bet everyone else is looking forward to a bright and exciting new turn!
10th Pass, 5th Turn | 11th Month, Winter: Gold Aerroth's Worlds Apart clutch has hatched into a sea of drama, stirring up a storm of new rumors and gossip. It wasn't a fluke; two new female brownweyrlings have left the sands, shortly followed by the much anticipated new goldweyrling - whom has been publicly accused of brainwashing her dragon into impressing a boy!
Mavros has already had a difficult time procuring candidates, and with all this new drama it is likely to become even more difficult. The Weyr may be forced to resort to drastic measures as the twin golds Danovelith and Sularenth are due to rise in only 6 months time.
Zen: Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
Rhush: Do a loony-goony dance 'cross the kitchen floor!
