NAME: R'get
RANK: wingrider
AGE: 20
GENDER: male
ORIENTATION: homosexual
DRAGON: Green Pallath x
PETS: Lady, gold gemglider x
APPEARANCE:
R'get is tall, about six feet even, and has an athletic build, as do many riders. He's blessed with broad shoulders and a boyish face. Though not remarkably handsome or stand-out, he is pleasing to look at and has short brown hair, warm brown eyes, and a near-constant big, eager grin. His skin is tanned and calloused, thanks to the sun he grew up in and the fact that no one can keep him cooped up for long. If one looks closely they can see a sprinkling of freckles--that's a gift from his mother, but he dislikes them because of how young they make him look.
He can be a bit of a slob when it comes to his clothing; usually the fabric is wrinkled because he just clumped it up somewhere before he put it on. R'get has no eye for color and is utterly bemused by fashion trends. One day it is this but, the next thing you know, there's a new fad. What he tends to favor are practical, hardy clothes.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
R'get does not face situations that make him feel uncomfortable or uncertain in himself and as such avoids conflict at the expense of character growth. On the other side of the coin, he can be a bit pugnacious if he dislikes a person, finding it difficult to control his temper. Because of his tendency to wear his heart on his sleeve, he also has big reactions to everything; the type that laughs easily, cries easily, and rages easily. He isn't the type of person to be overly aware of himself, jumping into conversations and conflict with the idea of 'making things better', and sometimes worsening everything. R'get believes he's awesome and doesn't understand that sometimes his attitude is not needed nor appreciated in delicate situations.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
R'get is friendly, easy to get along with. He's stubbornly positive, buoyant and full of energy. He devotes himself wholeheartedly into anything that he feels is worth the effort. For example, he gets up with Pallath at the fifth candlemark in morning for extra training to push her endurance past what is already abnormally durable for a green. Rau is also fantastically loyal to his friends, and typically a good person to have on your side when things go down.* R'get is the type of person who is 100% more likely to stand up for his friends or for what he believes is right, than for himself alone.
*this does not work if, see personality flaws, you are a friend he is currently in conflict with
FAMILY:
Rae, Greenrider from Southern Weyr.
She is a slight little woman with a fiery temper, a loud contagious laugh, and is in love with falling in love. She's fond of her children but expects them to be able to raise themselves. To put it this way; Rae is the type of mother who sees her toddler totter into a dangerous area and waits for the inevitable outcome... it'd teach the toddler not to do it again, after all. While this may seem harsh, she is not a stupid or unkind woman, and she does love each child. Rae would put herself in harms way to protect her children if she ever felt the situation was too dangerous. Though none of her children share the same father [she thinks...] they all get along very well. A loving and close family!
Two sisters, Mae (27 turns, a Southern Weyr healer) and Rayette (nine turns, weyrbrat in Southern Weyr).
Mae is a quiet woman with a serious attitude. She is hardworking and practical, in contrast to her free-spirited mother. She is tall with long black hair and green eyes... she takes after her father [not that her mother remembers who that is]. When R'get grew up, Mae mothered him even thought she was not that much older. A mature, confident person.
Rayette is flighty and flirtatious (yes, she's nine. I know), a bubbly child who might just be an airhead, though don't tell doting brother R'get that. She's quite precious and friendly though woe to you if you cross her. She can get scary angry and isn't afraid to cross a few... moral lines... to punish you.
One brother, Matyu (four turns old).
A bright-eyed child. R'get doesn't know him very well, after having transferred and Impressed he doesn't see much of Matyu.
Nephews (Mae's children) Venim and Rue (three and six turns old, respectively).
Rue is a solemn little thing who never cried as a baby. R'get hasn't met three turn old Venim yet, but he apparently inherited his father's attitude and cries and yells constantly. Terrible twos? Lets talk about terrible threes...
HISTORY:
Rae did not know she was pregnant until her green Ladith informed her, casually, as if she was stating the weather. This threw Rae into glee, she cooed at her belly constantly and started bragging about her little baby at the Weyr. Ladith was envious of the attention and ignored her during this time. A couple of riders told Rae it would be better just to go between on Ladith, and lose the child as most greenriders did. Rae waved off complaints and had him anyway. So, the boy was born. His mother's lack of attention seemed to hold little effect on his nature and soon he was charming the defenses down of the Weyr. Their cook was known to slip him a little extra food, and their Weyrwoman even spent a bit of time playing with him. Of course all the special treatment created an arrogant young man... but he didn't fare too badly, still kind-hearted and friendly, more than willing to laugh at himself for his mistake.
He was considered a very capable candidate even though he did not impress on Southern sands, and was shipped off as part of a gesture of goodwill to Mavros. Rau thought he wanted a bronze because of the power he could wield, thought that was what he deserved. After all, bronzes were the best, right? That's what everyone seemed to think so Rau thought he should Impress a bronze. At the same time, he was getting worried that he hadn't found his dragon yet, and he just kept on getting older...
R'get Impressed Pallath on his first attempt as a candidate for Mavros, which changed (and is still changing) his entire world. No longer does he think bronzes are the best--nothing will ever compare to the strong, beautiful green that came into his life. They've worked hard together. Their relationship is an interesting one, much of their personality being vastly different than the other's. However, this has been more than a boon for Rau.
After a disastrous breakup that Rau made worse than what it was, he dove into bad habits. This was only worsened by the fact that R'get felt under-appreciated at the weyr, and that his best friend had become Weyrleader and was leaving him behind. Feeling abandoned and slighted, he wavered between slacking off and trying reckless stunts. One of which wound up with Pallath getting wounded in a Fall. Thankfully, she recovered, however they were sent down to the gold wing for punishment as much as recovery.
Trying to change his life around, R'get worked more seriously on proving that Pal could do more than other greens. This eventually turned into something entirely different. Rau started thinking that it was possible to fill some of the holes in Mavros's wings with the more durable greens. With Pallath proving that she could extend her endurance, given the right training and conditions, perhaps the key to turning around their bad luck was in their "lesser" colors all along. R'get has been pretty loud about this idea recently, and has roped in a few other blues and greens to test it out.
IN THE EVENT OF YOUR SUDDEN, UNEXPLAINED DISAPPEARANCE FROM THE SITE AT ANY POINT IN TIME, WHAT DO YOU WISH TO BECOME OF THIS CHARACTER AND ANY CREATURES THEY MAY IMPRESS?
Any option is fine, mainly 'cause I'm not leaving >D buuut for the sake of worst-case situations;
b. Turn them into an NPC who may be killed off or used for plot purposes but who will not be played by someone else.
