Turn 2761, Early 12th Month
About a week after Sularenth's rise
About a week after Sularenth's rise
D'rew, Sk'lar
The loss of K’ton and then Karredy left 11th month as one of the worst Mavros had seen in a long time, overshadowing the graduation of the Night and Day weyrlings, his class, and the installment of their new Weyrwoman, Melana. The chaos was only just beginning to settle from that terrible, tragic mating flight. Mavros had lost a gold it sorely needed. D’rew sighed lightly as he surveyed the class before him, his gaze settling briefly on Riyobith at the thought of golds. A’zael had asked him to take up the mantle of Weyrlingmaster after K’ton’s death, until they had a new Weyrwoman who could make whatever appointment she liked, and he agreed though he had no real desire to keep the position for long. He was happy as an assistant. But since Sularenth’s rise, D’rew rather thought Melana had enough to deal with for the time being and decided not to bother pressing her to make a new appointment. He would be fine in the position for now, if it would help.
“Alright, all… as Sabanth informed you, today you’ll be trying your hand at fighting Thread for the first time!” he offered a mildly amused grin, “Not real Thread, of course.” He gestured above them to where the nearly graduated Champions of Legend class was already in the air, waiting to drop rope on them, “I’ve invited several riders to join us today so that I can sort you into proper Wings to give you a more authentic experience. The senior class in the air will be dropping dyed rope down on you, which will fall similarly to real Thread. If struck, they will leave a mark on you or your dragon, which I and my… assistants will be watching for.” It was still odd to say. “Each hit will rack up points for your Wing, and in this game, you do not want the highest score. I’ll be dividing you into two Wings and the Wing at the end with the lower score wins! While I hope you take this exercise seriously, as it will keep you alive come time for you to fight the real thing, I also hope you can have some fun with it.”
He looked them all over and gave a small nod, looking down at the list he’d made dividing everyone up into their Wings, “Now then, our Wingleaders for the day will be Tak’ril and Cirene.” His gaze found each of them, lingering on the woman for a moment and giving her a wink. It wasn’t exactly normal to put a bluerider in charge, but he was aware of her ambitious nature so he thought he would give her a chance today to taste what she was chasing.
“What?”
The disgusted question was spat from one of the bronzeriders, and D’rew’s gaze settled on Th’ron’s disgruntled face, “You have a question, Th’ron?”
“K’ton would have never put a bluerider in charge,” the young bronzerider spat, casting a furious look at Cirene.
“Well K’ton is dead,” Sk’lar replied dryly, his gaze settled on Th’ron, unimpressed as always with the entitled young man, “And here stands our bluerider weyrlingmaster.”
“I’ve had about enough of your disrespect you-”
D’rew raised his voice, “Th’ron!” His gaze shifted to Sk’lar for a moment as well, giving him a small shake of the head for him to back down, to which the other bluerider shrugged and relented, “I am indeed not K’ton, but I am in charge here. I will give the chance at leadership to anyone that wishes to try their hand at it, and there will be plenty of chances. You will get yours as well. Now if you wish to fly today I suggest you keep your colorist opinions to yourself.”
Sk’lar snorted a laugh he couldn’t quite contain at the look on Th’ron’s face, but the bronzerider snapped his jaw shut with a click and just glared at their new weyrlingmaster.
“As I was saying,” D’rew continued, “If I call your name, you will be flying in Tak’ril’s Wing, so please join him to hear his strategy for today.” He listed off the riders he had assigned to the bronzerider, Th’ron included, which seemed to mollify him somewhat, and once he was finished announced, “Anyone whose name I did not call is part of Cirene’s Wing, so please join her. Tak’ril, your Wing will begin in the high position, and Cirene, yours will start low.” D’rew’s eyes sought Aleni, “Aleni, you and Riyobith will be flying beneath the low Wing and doing your best to catch anything they miss with your flamethrower. It is the low Wing’s job to do their best to protect the queens below them, so any points that Aleni and Riyobith accrue will be added to whoever’s Wing is in the low position at the time. About half way through our practice I will call a stop to the Fall so that your Wings may switch places. Wingleaders, it is your job to decide on the strategy your Wing will use to face this Fall, assessing the weather conditions to set a plan for your Wing’s formation. If there are no questions from anyone, you may set your strategies and get your Wings in the air.”

This is going to work similarly to a normal Threadfall, only no one will be dropping out of the fight at any point and there will be 4 rounds instead of 6. The first 2 rounds will be played with Wing 1 in high position and then the last 2 rounds will be played with Wing 2 in high position. As this is their first time ever playing at Threadfall, there is a GOOD likelihood of getting hit, seeing as they have no real idea what they’re doing just yet, so the rolls reflect this. The color choices for this are more limited as well, and you will find the list below. Additionally, I will be making a roll for an NPC from each Wing every round, since we have a lot more NPCs for this class. kevna and tovaana should be the first ones to post, so as to decide on their Wing’s formation - information on this can be found in the Threadfighting 101 thread and I’m not helping you decide ;) - but after the first round and formations are set, anyone can post in any order as with normal Fall. There is no time limit for posting in this as there is with normal Fall, but I will move the thread forward if it stagnates too long and begin new rounds as I feel it necessary. You may use ONE save during this, but it will be a full save, you can't split it to use 'half' saves. If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me or ask in the Threadfall channel in the discord~
