The 4th round begins!
They somehow managed to escape further scoring while they were in the high position, though Sk’lar hardly understood how with Ikkamath being so sharding reckless. Just because their ‘Thread’ wasn’t real didn’t mean they shouldn’t be trying their hardest not to get hit by it, but Ikkamath wasn’t taking it seriously at all. As he never took anything seriously. If there was ever a time to be serious it was during Threadfall.
Oh will you stop grumping already? I will be serious during Threadfall, but this isn’t Threadfall.
Ikkamath! Just how in the shells do you expect we’ll escape a real Fall unscathed if you don’t take practice seriously? We do this so we learn how to not get hit later, with something that could kill us. You need to treat these ropes like they were real Thread! Sk’lar tried once more to get through to his blue, but could feel the mental shrug and dismissal. Ikkamath if you don’t start taking this seriously I’ll tell D’rew you’re not ready when it comes time for us to start fighting for real. I’ll not risk either of us, or anyone else in our Wing, because you do nothing but play games during practice.
For once, Sk’lar seemed to have found something that actually got the blue’s attention, You wouldn’t.
Try me, he growled, having had quite enough of Ikkamath’s casual take on this practice.
The blue growled in frustration under him, You suck the fun out of everything. Funsucker.
Sk’lar was pretty sure that meant he had won this battle, but tried not to feel too pleased with himself lest Ikkamath take it as a challenge. Agureyth’s command reached them after the ropes stopped falling and Sk’lar sighed, hoping maybe he would better be able to do his job as a second now that he might not have to be constantly reigning his own dragon in. They blinked between and settled into their new formation with the rest of the Wing, and Sk’lar took what little ‘Thread-free’ time they had left to toss more firestone to Ikkamath, Now focus.
Yeah, yeah. Funsucker.
Mizao :: Brown Wendiloth
Wendiloth’s wariness was clear in their bond as they had continued to clear away the remains of the fall through, but apparently she had let her guard down too soon with how it seemed like the ropes were done falling. The brown jerked in surprise again as the half charred remains of a rope struck his flank. Whoever had flamed it hadn’t quite finished the job, as a smudge of white could be seen when Mizao glanced back. That was just bad luck, she told him, and sighed when he didn’t respond, his feelings of inadequacy quite clear. C’mon, Wendiloth… it’s alright. Let’s between again.
When they blinked back, the brown turned a slowly whirling eye back at her, I told you Gaburuth would be better. And I told you, nonsense. She patted her dragon’s neck affectionately as Imperath’s orders were relayed. Alright, let’s go. I’ll keep a sharper eye out this time, promise.
As they settled into their new positions, Mizao kept her gaze above and on the older weyrlings until she saw the first ropes being dropped, Here they come. We’ll be fine. Wendiloth didn’t respond again and she got the feeling he wasn’t at all reassured, but he turned his head to loose a jet of flame as the first ropes reached them.
