NAME: Hiraeth (HEER-eyeth)
AGE: 20 Turns
COLOR: Blue
RIDER: C’tan
RANK: Searchdragon
SPEAKING COLOR: #00CDCD
APPEARANCE:
Hiraeth is on the larger end of blues, but not by much. An impressive 52 feet, his cyan hide resembles clear ocean waves on a sunny day. It fades into darker colors on his underbody and lighter colors along his back and neck, creating a color spectrum of light and dark. His tailfork and headknobs are topped with a very light blue, almost white, acting as the “cherry on top”. His eyes constantly whirl blue and purple, as he is happy with his life but sad for the losses he feels.
ABILITIES
Hiraeth is sensitive to humans other than his rider, giving him the abilities of a searchdragon. He is slightly more specific than other dragons, being able to sense what the new Candidates are leaving behind. It’s only a glimmer--a face of a pet here, the smell of a favorite fragrance--but it’s just enough to leave Hiraeth and C’tan in a state of nostalgia. It happens often at the Weyr, too. Any nostalgia or homesickness, and it hits them. It’s only glimmers again, but it’s still there. The pair doesn’t know why it happens. It just does.
AGILITY: 6
SPEED: 6
ENDURANCE: 4
PERSONALITY:
Hiraeth is a very sensitive dragon. He is compassionate and cares for many, interested in the well being of all those living in the Weyr. While clearly incapable of the soothing power golds possess, Hiraeth prefers to stay grounded with wounded dragons (if he can) and comfort them. Hearing or seeing any being in pain deeply upsets him, and thanks to his short memory, he never realizes that they can recover from their injuries. Disregarding that, he is still very good with the injured.
He will talk to anyone who can hear him, whether it’s other dragons or humans, or even lizards and gliders. He’ll talk your ear off if you let him, rambling on about the things he’s seen in the day. He never shares the memories he gets from other people, knowing somewhere that these are private. He gets suddenly morose during these moments, giving the appearance of mood swings, but it’s really just his sensitivity. He is surprisingly succinct with his rider. Perhaps it’s because C’tan knows what he goes through.
