"My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there."
NAME: B'nar
RANK: Wingrider
AGE IN TURNS: 19
FAMILY: Deceased
DRAGON: Brown Godoth.
APPEARANCE:
B'nar is a tall, lanky youth with floppy brown hair, hazel colored eyes and a ready smile for anybody who wants it. He stands at 5'11", a bit on the skinny side, but well-built regardless. He has a good eye for detail and very clever with his hands. B'nar is a bit pale from working indoors most of the time, but when he does get sun doesn't burn to a crisp. He's very particular about his clothing and appearance, sometimes to the point of irritation of others.
EDUCATION/SKILLS: He can read and write, count and figure. He learned most before being apprenticed, but the higher level figuring and math he learned as Senior apprentice. One has to measure and figure when mixing dyes, despite under careful supervision.
ORIENTATION: Unsure - he's been too focused on his trade to really think about relationships Becoming a dragonrider hasn't cleared things up in his mind yet - maybe Godoth will make up his mind for him.
*PERSONALITY FAULTS: He's too much of a perfectionist. He gets upset with himself if he doesn't perform as he thinks he should. Tends to judge others on their appearance and neatness, or lack thereof. Bad judge of character, B'nar tends to see only the good in others and hasn't learned the lesson yet. Tends to be a bit too serious.
*PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: His perfectionist nature. He's got a good eye for detail and likes to design his own patterns for weaving and embroidery. He's friendly and makes friends easily and is loyal to a fault. B'nar likes to work hard to achieve the best he can be and finds it difficult to understand that others don't want to be the best they can be too.
FEARS: Going blind, not having friends or family, losing Godoth.
DREAMS: To create a fabric that everybody will want, find a mate who will always be there for him.
*HISTORY:
Bonnard was found abandoned by a minor holder of Southern Boll whose wife couldn't have children. They raised the child as their own, fostering him as is the custom. He showed a seriousness from a very young age, like he knew his parents didn't want him - somewhat of a strange occurrence on Pern.
He showed an early interest in colors and fabrics, asking endless questions of his foster mother who tried to answer as best she could. He always made sure his chores were done on time and he would draw endlessly, a pad and stick of charcoal nearby at all times. He's not overly artistic, but showed an aptitude for creating patterns to be printed on fabrics which his foster mother happily did.
His foster father would have wanted him to be more interested in farming or beastcrafting but other than the usual chores around a hold that involved the beasts and the land he let the child be. It was no secret that B'nar would become a Weaver apprentice.
He did well from the moment he set foot in the Weavercraft Hall at Southern Boll. His clever fingers made him a natural candidate for embroidery training which he took to with great enthusiasm.
He mastered all the levels of training an apprentice needed and was well on his way to walking the tables to become a journeyman. Bonnard was attending a gather at Southern Boll when a woman singled him out in the crowd and told him that he could be a dragonrider. He joined her and started a new life on Mavros.
After some personal heartache involving another candidate before impressing Godoth, he threw himself into being the best rider he could be. His perfectionist outlook was further focused by Godoth’s single-mindedness. B’nar decided to ignore the events that caused him the hurt and trained hard whenever he had a chance.
