NAME: K'los
RANK: Weyrling
AGE: 21 Turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual with a preference for men.
DRAGON: Green Arkyloth
PETS: N/A
APPEARANCE:
Killos carries a great many similarities to his half-brother A’zael. His hair is the same light brown, though his is a bit longer, somewhat shaggy, compared to A’zael’s closer cropped hair. His eyes are the same gray-blue, alight with friendship and laughter. He generally has some sort of scruff on his face as well, though not at all for the same reasons. Killos would much prefer to have a smooth face, he just can’t be bothered to shave on a regular basis so he leaves it as long as he can stand before finally shaving it all off. He is slighter than his brother, however, not as broad in the shoulder and not quite as tall as A’zael’s 6 feet. He is a bit lankier, toned and fit, but with not quite as much visible muscle.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Killos has a bit of an issue with following through on his words and actions. It isn’t that he’s lazy or anything he just doesn’t quite have the resolve that his brother has to see everything he does through to the end. He sometimes focuses a bit more on the dream world than the real world and can get a little distracted from things that are going on around him. He believes in the good in everyone and is a bit too quick to trust others, which has been known to end with betrayals and practical jokes gone too far in the past; he is very naïve. It is wise to keep secrets from Killos because he says whatever happens to be on his mind at the time, whether or not it was told to him in confidence or not. He doesn’t do this to be mean or to spread rumors or secrets, more than likely he’s simply starting to daze off in a daydream and isn’t really thinking about what he’s saying. He can be pretty forgetful, which comes along with his daydreaming nature. Sometimes daydreams take the place of things he should remember from reality and it will be as if he’s never heard or learned something that he should know of. He doesn't have the most tact and will just say whatever's on his mind, without ever knowing if what he says causes anyone any upset. He certainly doesn't do it to be mean, he's just... blissfully unaware.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
It’s very hard to get Killos angry, and even when he’s angry it’s a lot more like annoyance than anything, and will probably pass quickly; he’s very easy-going. He won’t hesitate to strike up a conversation with anyone, no matter how intimidating they might be to others, and is incredibly friendly. No matter how bad things get he always looks on the bright side and stays positive; forever the optimist. He is a lover, not a fighter, and will never resort to violence over anything. He’s more likely to let himself get pushed around than stand up for himself, though with how naïve he is he probably sees it all as good-natured fun anyway. Much to the annoyance of those who would make fun of him, he laughs at any joke made about him, never taking really anything too seriously.
FAMILY: mother – Killana (journeywoman harper), father – E’los (rider of Blue Wareth), older half-brother – A’zael (by his father, rider of Bronze Fath), younger brother – Nalosan (15, apprentice harper), younger sister – Eliana (9), younger brother – Lokilan (3)
HISTORY:
Killos’s parents have a rather odd living arrangement between them. His mother Killana was born at Southern Weyr to rider parents, grew up there, but when she showed aptitude as a harper was sent off to Fort for apprenticeship. It was there she met her future husband, fellow harper apprentice Ekolos. The two began courting early, but at 16 turns Ekolos was Searched by Killana’s own greenrider mother who had come to visit her. He left with the older woman, saying he’d always dreamed of becoming a rider, and Killana supported him wholeheartedly and promised him she would come back to Southern after she made journeywoman status. She received word that Ekolos had Impressed a Blue and was now calling himself E’los a short few months later.
The two were apart for some time and Killana was certain, living in the Weyr, E’los would soon forget about her for some pretty greenrider or some such. However, nearly two turns after he’d left, he appeared in the sky above Fort to visit her. She was delighted, even more so when he spoke of marrying her. She pressed him quite often, asking if she was sure, things were different in the Weyr. He understood that quite well enough but he still wanted her as his wife. She made him wait, however, saying if he still felt that way after she attained journeywoman status, she would indeed marry him. Things turned out just that way. At 19 turns Killana walked the tables and shortly after she and E’los were married. He took her back to Southern, though she made arrangements to live at the Hold rather than the Weyr. She said it would be better, that she understood Flights would happen and he would sometimes be with other women, and sometimes men, and that she simply wanted to remove herself from that situation and know that when he was with her, he was with her alone. He could leave Weyrlife at the Weyr and have his home life in their humble little home.
She made money teaching local children and soon enough became pregnant with hers and E’los’s first child. Well, her first child. E’los had informed her that a child had resulted from a Flight, his child, a son who would be raised in the Weyr. He had felt torn and guilty about it, but Killana assured him she understood, she’d been born and raised in the Weyr and she knew how it went. It wasn’t his fault and she didn’t blame him. In fact she showed some interest in the child and made him promise he would not be completely absent from the boy’s life and to keep her updated on him. Finally their son was born, Killos. Killana taught him herself as he grew and was pleased when he had clearly inherited both of his parents’ singing talents. However, as Killos grew, he showed much more interest in his father’s dragon than in singing and such. Their next child, Killos’s younger brother Nalosan, cried whenever his father’s dragon got too close and seemed terrified of the beast, but showed the same aptitude as his brother when it came harper skills.
Shortly after his sister Eliana was born, Killos’s father Searched him and took him back to Southern Weyr with his mother’s blessing. She’d known since Killos had first laid eyes upon his father’s Blue that his life would lead to the Weyr. Once there, he met his half-brother Azaelos, a fellow candidate. Their father didn’t introduce them, but he had heard he had a brother at the Weyr, his mother sometimes mentioned him, and looking at Azaelos he could see much of their father in him. At the Weyr, things were quite different than in the Hold, however he adapted quite easily and found himself attracted to both sexes there as well. During early candidacy he experimented quite a lot with both girls and boys, and found himself preferring boys. He and his brother both stood for quite a few hatchings without Impressing. Azaelos actually saved him from being trampled by a Bronze hatchling once. Then one day a number of the older candidates were transferred out to Mavros, a rather new Weyrhold out in the middle of nowhere. His brother went, but he didn’t. He wanted to stay close to his family. However after two more Hatchings and no Impressions, hearing about the new clutch at Mavros and how desperate they are, and that his brother was Weyrleader! … well he asked to transfer and his father took him himself. He’s only recently arrived at Mavros and is getting a feel for the place.
