K’oa – Blue Percotath
No, I don’t think so.
K’oa stopped mid step, looking back at his dragon, who was looking at the sand as if it were a tunnelsnake preparing to bite. “Hang on guys, I’ll catch up.” He called out to the group heading to the ‘after party.’ They would be playing in sand and water, there would be need for music, and the fire would feel nice and warm. He gestured to his blue, coaxing.
It doesn’t bite. Come on, everyone is going to have fun, and you’ll miss out.
But there will be sand all over me! It could mar my beautiful hide. What are you doing??? stop, stop, STOP! His dragon started shifting, reaching his neck out as if to try and grab K’oa with his maw and pull him out of the sand. The young dragonrider tried not to smile. The dragon’s antics had been elicited by him taking his shoes off so he could feel the sand between his toes.
Oh what have you done!? You’ve ruined your whole outfit!!! His dragon wailed at him, tossing his head back, and looking utterly ridiculous while he did it.
It’s shoes. I took off my shoes. K’oa laughed, shaking his head. It’s more comfortable on the sand. Come on, come try it.
Put your shoes on, and I’ll come out to play. K’oa raised an eyebrow, surprised by the dragon’s petulant tone. He didn’t like being told what to do, he wasn’t a child. But was he really willing to fight over this? Especially when his dragon was much like a child... You look utterly ridiculous without your shoes on. His dragon continued, and that made the decision for him. I am not putting these shoes back on. It’s comfy this way. He shrugged, thinking on his feet quickly. He really didn’t want to leave his dragon behind.
There will be story telling. And I’ll play music. Probably more dancing. Steleneth and Daphnerith will be there. Plus new dragons too. They’ll miss you so. K’oa took another step, and his dragon made a grievous sound. Music? You'll play me music? Okay, okay, I’ll try the sand. Are you sure you don’t want to put your shoes back on? Maybe we can walk a little, and then before you are seen by others, you can put them on.
Maybe. K’oa said noncommittedly, taking another step back towards where the party would be held.
Alright, alright. If dragons could do put upon sighs, Percotath would. Very slowly, so slowly and so very exaggerated, Percotath lifted his foot, moving towards the sands.
You know, you were born on the sands. This is basically the same.
But it’s not warm, and I just got a bath. Cold wet sand. Uuuhg, it’ll mar my appearance, and it would be such a shame. Then again… you could give me another bath after.
His dragon had paused, his foot literally an inch above the sand. Another bath? The last bath had taken far too long, especially for the size of the little blue. Not tonight, but maybe in the morning.
I think this is something we will have to agree to disagree on. His dragon said intently, and K’oa felt the impending more work as the dragon finally placed his foot on the sand, walking daintily. Like a little lady. His dainty blue like a lady. He could make a song like that.
Was that so bad?
Yes. Yes it was. And at least Daphnerith and Steleneth won’t try getting more sand on me. It all worked out for the best.
K'oa laughed, wondering if all along this had been just a distraction to give Percotath more space between his sisters and their antics. Well, maybe it had started out that way... the shoes had been a serious block for the dragon.
