K'ton :: Bronze Sorth
K'ton sat atop his Bronze Sorth, though they were still on the ground, for now. He looked down at the class, who he had not allowed to mount their dragons just yet so they could cluster close to hear him properly. Their dragons were getting large and needed far more space at this point.
“As I told you all yesterday, today is the day you all go Between for the first time. If you're smart, you practiced the visualization exercise I assigned you all last night, and then got a decent rest. Knowing weyrlings, plenty of you did not, and it might be the last mistake you ever make,” K'ton growled down at them, on edge. He didn't particularly care about any of these sharding young fools, but Mavros needed their dragons, and they came as a package deal. Losing any of them would be a loss for the entire Weyr, and reflect poorly on him besides.
“Once you all mount up, we'll fly to the Little Island, where you all will land and wait your turn on the ground. We will be Betweening across to the cliffs on the main island, and then back. Once you've had your turn, you will land and wait for the rest of your classmates to take theirs. You are NOT to attempt to Between again, and furthermore are not to attempt to Between at all in the coming month without supervision until I have given you my express permission! However, if you wish to disregard these orders and Between yourself into a rock in your incompetency, it will only serve you right,” he gave them all a hard stare, sure at least one of them wouldn't take his warning seriously and would end up doing something stupid. There was always one. At least one.
“You will share your visualizations with your dragon to get used to the practice. Your dragon will then relay the coordinates you've shared to Sorth, who will match it up against my own and correct it, if needed, to make sure you haven't mucked it up,” Sorth snorted, clearly displeased with the task, but the Bronze was displeased with most things these days so K'ton, as usual, ignored him. “This is why you'll not be Betweening without supervision until I've given you my leave to do so. Once you've proven your ability to visualize accurately, you will be free to practice on your own, within reason.” He scowled, “And by that I mean no trying to Between back home for a nice family visit or some such nonsense. You'll stay on this island.”
After going over his instructions thus far once more in his mind, K'ton was satisfied that he'd said all he needed to, and he was not a man that ever repeated himself. Though in this case he would make an exception. “Are there any questions?” He waited impatiently, answering anything that cropped up before finally telling them too mount up and leading them across to the Little Island, where he remained in the air as the class settled on the ground, and picked the first Weyrling he happened to look at, “K'zen, you first.” The class's youngest rider looked up at him excitedly, and his Blue rose into the air to join him, “You remember my instructions, boy?”
K'zen nodded, “Yeah, I know.”
Petulant brat. “Give your dragon the coordinates then, and have him show Sorth,” he replied curtly. A moment later Sorth touched his mind, It is done. “All right, boy, let's go.” He ordered Sorth Between and the two of them disappeared, appearing again almost instantly across the water, above the cliffs of the main island. A few moments later, they returned, and Pavalenth circled around to land with K'zen wooping on his back as though he'd just rid Pern of Thread forever. K'ton rolled his eyes, but surveyed the class, “There you all are! A mere thirteen turn old boy can do it, I sure as shells hope the rest of you can manage. Next!”
Whoever wants to be next can go ahead, K'ton will be going with you, so you have permission to play him a bit for your post~
