CHARACTER RECLAIM
NAME: Kenessia
RANK: Searchrider, Gale Wing
AGE IN TURNS: 19 (Midwinter)
FAMILY: Mother - Inghdra, Cook [Deceased] / Father - K'zan, Brown Divanth [Deceased]
DRAGON: Green Nimiath
APPEARANCE: Kenessia has always been described as 'plain', at least in her early years. In her pre-teen days, she was all shoulders, knees, and legs. Now, at seventeen, she has rounded and filled out. Long brown hair hangs in a halo around her face, framing slightly slanted hazel eyes. Full lips were never down in a frown, always smiling and giving words of encouragement. Hands are soft and delicate, not quite the hands of a cook, but remarkable at Recording. Legs are long and strong, from years of following her late father's dragon to the herd fields to fantasize about one day being a Rider herself. Torso is compact but hardly fat, well-toned and shapely because of nigh excessive energy.
EDUCATION/SKILLS: Reading, Writing, Mild Arithmetic (She hates numbers and figures, even if she can recall them to near perfect clarity), Staves . She learned the rudimentary skills from her mother, while her father taught her the practical uses of a straight, polished stick with which to lean on for support during a hike, and beat away an angry jungle cat (Or in some cases, a mouthy human).
ORIENTATION: Bi-curious, having 'experimented' with a pretty drudge girl around age 14.
*PERSONALITY FAULTS: Far too trusting, if you can convince her your way is correct, she'll back you 110% ... until proven otherwise. Slow to anger, which can be seen as either a strength or a weakness, depending on the situation. Frets too much, worrying over a small matter as well as a large one and often over-exerting herself because of it. Humble as a drudge, no one is better than anyone else (except for dragons!). Foul tempered once fully riled, she flies off at the mouth, even going as far as to reopen old wounds to hurt whoever angered her so... though later she regrets such harsh things.
*PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: Loyal to a fault, she will not condone disloyalty to one's Weyr, Hold, or Hall. Woe be to the one who does so. Kind and understanding, Kenessia cares for all living things, which leads people to wonder why she was Searched, instead of following her mother's footsteps as a cook. Charismatic, a bright smile and a flash of those lustrous hazel eyes can sway even the staunchest of men, as well as a well-placed compliment. Knowing no strangers, Kenessia will speak to anyone if they speak to her, giving them her full attention. Incapable of pure malice or hatred, she will go to any length to make up to someone if she has wronged them, aside from 'favors'.
FEARS: She fears loss above all. With her father gone because of a serious Threadscore to the chest, she dislikes the thought of losing anyone close to her. Of course, tunnel snakes scare everyone. Kenessia doesn't like people to dislike her. It upsets her, and makes her fret more than she should. An intense 'crawlerphobic', at the first sign of anything creepy crawly she will promptly make herself scarce from the floor, in any way possible, and often leading to some rather comical situations.
DREAMS: Kenessia dreams of one day riding upon a brilliant Golden Dragon, and bringing the end of the Thread menace ... of course, that's every little girl's dream, so she dumbs it down to simply wishing to be a legendary Dragonrider. Pre-Searched for Mavros Weyrhold at Southern, she longs to leave the place she was fostered at (even if she was visited regularly by her parents, how about that.) and do something greater with her life.
*HISTORY: (at least 5 sentences) Born to a Dragonrider and a Cook at Igen Weyr, Kenessia was immediately fostered to Southern Weyr because Danyla wished her daughter to be part of the historical events in the South. K'zan, rider of Brown Divanth, visited his daughter every chance he could, since the threat of Threadfall was so great that his Wingleader was iffy about giving one of his wing so much time off. So that she may know her father and mother, however, D'kab did allow weekly or bi-weekly visits, provided Threadfall was not occurring at the desired time. He taught her the ways of the 'walking stick', and how it could be used as an effective support when walking, as well as a handy tool against unwanted beasts and humans alike, while her mother taught her to read, write, and define figures.
Kenessia navigated rolling areas of the Southern Continent all her life, becoming strong and swift as time went by. As the Turns went by, she grew into a solidly beautiful woman, doing her best to -look- her best, as well as do everything she could to make her parents proud. Around the middle of her seventeeth Turn, Kenessia received a message from Igen. Her father had died of a Threadscore to the chest, the silvery spore eating away into his flesh before Divanth could go between. A heart wrenching plea for consolation was sent to her mother, and all Inghdra could do was weep bitter tears for a daughter who deserved better. All she wrote back to Kenessia were the gentle words she'd always said to her, chanting the old litany that she had taught Kenessia to say when she was upset... Who Wills, Can. Who Tries, Does. Who Loves, Lives.
Recently, Kenessia has met and fallen for a junior weyrling named R'zon, and has also made a few friends and enemies. R'zon continues to be a factor in her life that will shape the woman she grows to be. Nimiath, her beloved Green, recently hatched and newly Impressed, is also a deciding factor for her. Impression occurred 10P/2T/10M at Mirran Weyrhold, from Gold Prith's clutch.
Since, Kenessia has stayed off the radar, doing what she had to do to survive the Threadfalls and live her life peacefully. Multiple candidates that she has brought to the Weyr show promise, and she is finally coming out of the funk she found herself in after she and R'zon had their falling out.
Kenessia and R'zon have reconciled and are currently living together, happily. The weyr residents sometimes even pick on them and claim that they're married without all the pomp and priss of a ceremony. Kes has also come into the possession of a flit egg, found on one of her romps through the Weyr. She takes care of it religiously, amused when R'zon shows curiosity about what's in it.
