Riasu - Candidate
She moved toward the weyrling barracks. Voices waxed and waned as she traversed the weyr. Part of her wanted to listen in, try to catch the voices of dragons she knew well, and loved. The other part just wanted the voices to float off into the distance, and leave her in peace and quiet. She rarely felt such-the desire to be a part, and alone all at once. Standing on that hatching ground, watching the rainbow eyes and hearing the sweet, joyous voices announcing their names and exclaiming hunger and both been joyous, and excruciating. How she longed for that connection. Instead, she just had this half connection, hearing, but never actually apart. It made her feel so alone, that quiet was preferable.
The aftermath of the hatching had been a bit of a whirlwind. Riasu had wanted to enjoy the feats, truly she had. She had also hoped to better congratulate Lounessa-Lo’sa at the feast, but there had been a lot going on, and she had only gotten a few words in before letting her niece enjoy her feast. She hadn’t really felt like celebrating that night either, and she hadn’t wanted Lo’sa to pick up on that. Jealousy had no place at a celebration, and Lo’sa had done nothing to warrant her jealousy. She had earned, was it earning, or just destiny? Well, either way, Lo’sa was deserving, and of such a beautiful beast as well.
Today she was feeling more herself. She was letting the grief of another unsuccessful stand go, and now she wanted to get to know the new addition to the family. She moved past the curtains that separated the female weyrling barracks from the common room, casting her eyes about in hopes of catching sight of Lo’sa and Perialith. The little dragonets strewn around the room spoke as if almost as one, a blending of voices and words that didn’t much make sense, until she sought to push the voices away from her, making them far distant. The brown was such a stark contrast to any of the other hatchlings in the room, she quickly spotted them and veered toward them. “Lo’sa, of Brown Perialith, well met.” She emphasized the well, smiling proudly at her niece as she went in to offer a congratulatory hug before looking to the hatchling.
“You found yourself a good one, Perialith. I was hoping we could get to know one another now that you are a part of the family. I am Riasu. How are you two settling in? Are you getting any sleep?” Here she pointedly looked towards the energetic dragonets and chuckled. It would be hard having a bunch of different dragonets all sharing one space, no matter how roomy it was.
