APPEARANCE:
Polypheth is quite a unique looking brown, purely for the sheer amount of different shades on him, some of which seem barely brown at all in comparison to his more usual shades. His body is split between two main colors, his top half a sandy tan and his lower half brown like creamed klah, which fades into a darker and more saturated brown on his legs and jaw. Along his back, the sandy tan color fades into an odd pinkish brown, much like pale, dried clay, which continues all the way down his spine and covers the top half of his tail before fading slowly into a more golden brown, which covers the better part of the last half of his tail. His tail is the only place on his body where his lower half is not covered by the creamy klah brown, but instead the sandy tan that covers the top half of the rest of him. The same golden brown from his tail can also be found in two streaks that begin at his nostrils and cover his eyes and headknobs.
His wings begin with the sandy tan color fading up into the same creamy klah brown as his lower half, which then fades into a strange greenish-tinged brown about halfway down his wingsails, which itself ends rather abruptly at a dark, soil-brown stripe that looks nearly black and divides the lower parts of his wingsails from the rest of his wings. Below this stripe is the same pinkish brown that can be found along his spine, fading once more into the same golden brown that can be found on his tail, this time along his wing edges. Higher up on his wings, where the sandy tan fades into the creamy klah brown, are two more much smaller stripes of dark, soil brown, beneath which are small patches of the pinkish brown that fade out. He is otherwise of average build for a brown, well-proportioned, and will be 62 feet at full growth.
Personality: Playful, Naive, Nosy, Helpful
Polypheth is rather comparable to a toddler or very young child in nature. He is rather simple and incredibly naive, believing anything he’s told, and without the ability to grasp exaggeration and sarcasm, he takes everything quite literally. This has the potential to lead to him having some very odd, and incorrect, beliefs about things. After all, his rider cannot hear the conversations he has with other dragons, so has no way to know just what they might be telling him at any given time. Some of the less friendly or more prank-oriented dragons very well might take to having some fun at his expense without his rider ever knowing until he suddenly voices some strange belief one day, convinced of its authenticity. It will not be terribly hard for his rider to set him straight, but it will tend to leave this poor brown a bit confused. It would be wise for his rider to check in with him on a regular basis to see what sorts of conversations he’s been having on any given day to ensure he’s not being taken advantage of by more mature or clever dragons. With the dangerous combination of his friendliness, nosiness, curiosity, and naivety, he will be a terrible gossip, spreading hearsay and rumors as if absolute fact.
Quite outgoing and friendly, Polypheth will talk to anyone and everyone, dragon, human, wher, flit, canine, trundlebug, if it’s alive he will happily have a chat with it, even if it doesn’t respond back. He is quite a chatty and curious dragon and will enjoy learning new things from others, with plenty of questions to ask. His curiosity can often turn into nosiness, however, and he may come off a bit pushy or rude at times as he doesn’t understand that some topics might be off-limits or uncomfortable and has a habit of pressing his luck, trying to delve deeper and learn more about something when it would be better for him to leave well enough alone. This tendency at least stems from a good place, normally, as he wants to help when he notices that someone is upset, and he can help better if he knows more about why. He just doesn’t understand that some people prefer not to talk about upsetting things, and that talking might very well just make them feel worse rather than better.
And Polypheth is relentlessly helpful. If anyone voices even the slightest need or want, he will be the first to volunteer to see a task done or an item retrieved, even if it is completely outside of his ability to accomplish. His rider will likely have to reign him in often and reassure him when he cannot be of assistance as it will be quite upsetting to him. He is most definitely a dragon who acts before he thinks and has the potential to be more trouble than help if his rider is unable to anticipate him and prevent any mishaps. Getting himself stuck from trying to go somewhere he does not fit or breaking things that he is simply too large to interact with may become common occurrences without a properly attentive rider, and even then his rider cannot monitor him at all times, so it’s still likely to occur now and then.
To add to his childish nature, he is incredibly playful and will be easily drawn into anything presented to him as a game. He will enjoy competitions but purely for the fun of it, winning or losing doesn’t matter to him one bit. Simply having fun with others is all he needs to be happy with an activity. With that in mind, he is likely to chase just about any green that rises, enjoying the chase simply for the sake of it and without any disappointment should he end up losing. He is less likely to chase golds, where the competition tends to be more serious and less fun, but it is not outside the realm of possibility that he might try now and then depending on the other males in the chase and of course the gold herself.
