NAME: P'gen
RANK: Blue Weyrling
AGE: 19 Turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Homosexual
DRAGON: Blue Irisirith
PETS: None
APPEARANCE: Standing at a height of 5' 11", P'gen has brown hair and eyes, rounded cheeks and chin with a growth of short stubble. He has a bit of muscle, years of keeping himself fit for the life of riding he hoped for. Well-toned, while not looking ridiculous. He tends to walk head up but eyes down, not making contact with anyone unless they call to him specifically- while attempting not to look like he's actually trying to avoid anyone.
PERSONALITY FAULTS: Reluctant, Holds Grudge, Simple, Requires direction
P'gen doesn't really get people. Too many different minds, thinking too many different ways, seeing the world in too many different ways. Who's to say their way is right, when another person's viewpoint makes just as much sense? Even a person's colorist ideas doesn't really bother him, because they're still right in a way, right? After all, he grew up in Mirran and most of them accept that way of life as the right way, even though Mavros is far more lax about ideas of women riding fighting dragons and riders of lesser colors taking on roles of Wingsecond.
He doesn't really get angry if he's insulted or aggravated by someone, but nor will he forget the slight so quickly. He finds it quite amusing to target the person for some time after with relatively harmless but irritating pranks. He's only likely to stop if ordered to, or when he gets bored of the pranks.
He'll never be one for politics; he considers it a level a bit beyond him. He's happy enough settling into a role of rider, not keen to even go beyond the rank of Wingrider. He's very much the sort who appreciates being pointed in a direction and given instruction and then left alone to do the task how he sees fit. Ask for his opinion on anything related to leadership, and the most you'll get is a shrug before he changes the topic or walks away, completely unwilling to get into a discussion about it.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: Slow but steady, Innovative, Punctual, Realistic
P'gen has always wanted to be a rider. He's not out to be the best rider ever, he just wanted to be a part of it, to be needed in some aspect. To have someone by his side who he knew would always be there, whatever that someone turned out to be. He knows and accepts his limitations (perhaps too much sometimes) but is willing to step outside of them if he thinks he can gain something from it. He tends to view the world in a very black-and-white way, but which way can vary on the situation he's in or the people he's talking to.
A keen mind, P'gen finds it stifling to be told to stick to a certain routine. He likes experimenting, trying to find new ways to accomplish tasks that are necessary. He doesn't like doing things a certain way, if he can find another way he considers better, so long as he gets the same results.
Punctuality and timeliness has always been important to him; if he says he'll be somewhere at a certain time, he'll be there, unless there's something else more important that's come up. He doesn't like letting people down for any reason, but he hopes they'll understand why he didn't show up- sometimes things just happen that you can't foresee.
FAMILY: Foster Mother: Acermia
Foster brother: Mitarin
HISTORY: Pemana was an unassuming young woman of Mirran Weyrhold, born herself to a Holder father and a greenrider mother. She was raised in the creche and grew up with an affinity for Weaving. Possibly what some might call a dull life, but she was content. Becoming pregnant was rather unexpected, a product of an evening where she'd found herself interested in a man and lay with him; a short romance that ended as quickly as it had begun.
The birth, however, went badly; she managed to deliver the boy, but it weakened her to the point that she was unable to care for him. One of the Healers who had helped her, with a recent child of her own, took charge of the child. He thrived with her, bonded with her, and when Pemana recovered, instead of taking Pemagen back, she let him stay with Acermia.
He grew up with Acermia and his foster brother, Mitarin. He learned a little bit of Healing from her, but it was never his long-term goal. Growing up in a Weyr meant he grew up around dragons, and from the age he could understand what an honor it was to be chosen, to fight and defend those who couldn't, he wanted to do the same.
As a result, he joined the ranks of Candidates as soon as he was old enough. He was left Standing a few times, always disappointed that no dragon found him worthy, but still assured that some day, he'd find the one meant to be his.
Acermia uprooted the family from Mirran; following a brother who had Impressed a Mavrosi dragon, she moved to the Weyrhold to be with him, and Mitarin and Pemagen went with her. It was a vastly different place, with ideals that were incredibly at odds with everything he'd known, but he adapted and accepted these new ideals as acceptable in his particular Weyrhold.
He stayed on, even as Mitarin grew more frustrated with the backwards views of Mavros and decided to return to Mirran on his own. Persistence paid off for Pemagen, as he pushed on through more Hatchings, and finally found himself face-to-face with his own. The color of his dragon wasn't an issue; Impression was what mattered most. And Irisirith? He's simply perfect.
