Euploeth is built more like a blue than a typical brown, lithe and sleek, streamlined for the most part, though his wings seem a bit comically oversized for his body, as if the rest of him failed to grow into them properly. As a hatchling they may end up dragging on the ground from time to time, so his rider will need to inspect them often for signs of abrasion and injury. He will be 56 feet at full growth. His body is a dark, chocolatey brown, fading into slightly darker points at his head, feet, and tailfork. This chocolate brown can also be found in a small stripe along his wing edges. His wings are noticeably split, with the upper part near his wingarms fading from the chocolate brown of his body into a warm sort of red brown color, while the lower half of his wings starts at a bright golden brown nearest his body and fades into a sort of amber brown toward his outer wing. Above the brown stripe at his wing edges are several small bright golden brown spots, and these spots can also be found in groups of four along his neck, ribs, and near the base of his tail.
Personality: Petty, Competitive, Confident, Reliable
Euploeth is a brown that knows who he is, what he wants, and isn’t afraid to chase his goals, or his rider’s for that matter. He has an easy confidence about him that can be infectious, and never crosses the line into arrogance, making him generally well liked and enjoyable to be around. His confidence is often extended to those around him, particularly wingmates, and he is a trusting and cooperative dragon to work with, placing a high emphasis on teamwork. He is always willing to try to give his wingmates a confidence boost if they are doubtful or uncertain, and his trust in the ability of others can often have the effect of making them believe more in themselves as well. This trait will make him a wonderful second or leader, should he ever get the chance to hold such a position. However should he find his trust in another misplaced, particularly during a Fall, his petty side may come out for a while, until he forgets the incident. If he thinks something bad happened because a wingmate was being lazy or irresponsible during Threadfall, he won’t hesitate to remind them of the fact for several days after it happens with passive aggressive comments that are quite contrary to his usual encouraging nature.
Reliable and responsible, he has little patience for anyone that goofs off during serious events, such as Threadfall, drills or (before graduation) weyrling classes. He knows how to let loose and have fun, but there is a time and a place for that, and there is a time and a place to be serious and work hard. He will not hesitate to use his influence over blues and greens to compel good behavior from them if he deems it necessary, such as if they are being disruptive during class or not taking drills seriously, which may breed some resentment among the more free spirited of his kind. Euploeth of course prefers to be liked, to have good relations with others, but when it comes to certain situations, being liked hardly matters, so long as the group is able to accomplish their goal as safely and efficiently as possible. He accepts his place in the hierarchy, obeys those above him, and expects to be obeyed by those beneath him. If obedience is not given freely, he doesn’t at all mind compelling it if he sees the need, but he does not use his influence excessively or unreasonably.
Though he isn’t a particularly ambitious brown, he is incredibly competitive and finds it difficult to resist a challenge. His ‘time and place’ mindset remains, and he will be glad to take you up on that challenge after classes or drills are over, but he won’t be easily drawn into silly competitions when there are more important things to focus on, unless the challenge somehow coincides with and perhaps enhances the current activity, and doesn’t put anyone in danger or become a distraction. Although he won’t be throwing any big fits if he loses, he is most definitely a sore loser and his pettiness will come out to play in such situations. He will avoid whoever bested him and if forced to interact with them will throw out plenty of snide comments. He will take on a passive aggressive attitude toward them until he finally forgets about the ordeal. He is, at least, a gracious winner, and will not become egotistical or obnoxious about it, congratulating his competitors politely and indicating his willingness for a rematch.
His confidence makes him comfortable when it comes to talking with humans besides his rider, though he doesn’t generally begin conversations unless he thinks someone needs a pep talk. If spoken to, he will respond directly, and doesn’t at all mind carrying on conversations initiated by others. He is quite social among his own kind and will be a regular participant in the dragon gossip about the Weyr, but never fear, he isn't one to share secrets told to him in confidence. When it comes to chasing, his competitive side will have him chasing every gold simply for the challenge of it, and many greens as well, though as always, his petty side will come out if he loses and will be aimed at winner and female both for several days after the event. Where greens are involved, his rider may be able to dissuade him from the chase, but he will be quite adamant about chasing golds, despite his smaller size, for the challenge of beating bronzes out and lasting long enough to win is too much to resist.
