Cirene :: Blue Imperath
Cirene was laying on her bed, glaring at the new creature curled up in her furs. She hadn’t bothered to clear any of the remnants of egg from her bed or floor since she really hadn’t had time. She had kept some dried fish in a container for the arrival of her new pet, but after a bite, the creature had kept making hungry noises, as if she hadn’t liked something about the dried fish – and apparently it was simply because they were dried. She’d not wanted to mess up the bonding process so she had sprinted with the spitter to the kitchens- where the spitter had almost leaped out of her hands at the smell of fresh fish. Just the memory of it set her jaw tight with anger. She’d won the critter and there was no way between she was going to let anyone else claim her little sea flit. It'd all worked out in the end, standing near the entrance in the kitchens with a happy and bonded flit.
You’re brooding. Her narrowed gaze moved minimally to where her blue and white dragon lay, looking at her with unhappy whirling colors. ‘And?’ And it’s tiresome.
“I’m tired.” She said in a whisper and a sigh. Perhaps she shouldn’t have entered to win a new pet so soon after she had gained Sovereign, but the idea of having a sea flit… it was like having MoonClaw, her long white fur a testament to the prestige and price she’d paid. She’d heard tell of gemmies, but not until Mavros had she heard there were sea flits – or spitters. Sea Spitters seemed an uncomely name, so she opted to think of her little creature as a sea flit. It’d taken the last couple of months to start to understand her Gemglider, how long would it take for her to understand this strange new creature?
All this time you put into those silly little creatures, you should be spending with me. Cirene rolled her eyes at Imperath, pursing her lips slightly. Cirene had been spending all of her time either training with their class, endurance training separately – and when Cirene deemed that Imperath needed to take breaks, she’d spent time with her pets, and if possible, trying to connect with her classmates. It was a difficult process, especially after realizing that she’d wasted so much time.
“I spend most of my time with you, you ungrateful beast. I just have a larger picture in mind – and as small and insignificant you think they are, Sov and this sea flit are little pieces of the puzzle.”
The blue bristled, I’m no beast, not like a herdbeast! Cirene was too tired to have patience for the blue’s pride being pricked, she was tired, so tired. Her nose twitched as her face contorted momentarily in a flash of anger that was fed by the blue’s frustration. It took her a moment to realize she was letting the connection between them rule her emotions and she closed her eyes, focusing on distancing herself from Imperath who stubbornly clung to her. “You just have to trust that you are my priority.” She said as steadily as she could, turning to her side to look at the dark green pool in her furs. She swallowed any emotions down deep within her belly and let them hibernate there, as she always did. Instead she focused on the spitter… “Nymph.” She whispered, like the stories she’d heard sea traders tell. She focused on Nymph’s plump round belly, full of fresh fish, so satisfied and peaceful, at least for the moment, and it was enough to let Cirene to fall into her own quiet nap.
