NAME: Lemarovah
RANK: Dragon Candidate from Mirran (Mirranese)
AGE: 19 Turns
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Hetero, prolly Bi-Curious
DRAGON: N/A yet
PETS: N/A yet
APPEARANCE: Face of Marleen Lohse. 5' 7". Her eyes are a pale sky blue, but seem a shade darker inside and are brighter in the sunshine. She is slightly more sensitive to light due to her light eye color. She's on the thinner side and not curvy - having more of a stick like figure. Despite that, under the clothes she's rather fit and solid, especially in her arms- she'll wear shorter sleeves just to show off her guns. Her hair is a bright red, and in the sunshine shines with copper tones. It's wavy and unruly and she lets it do as it pleases, roughly pulling it up and away in a messy bun if she's doing something where it will get in the way. When it's down you can't really tell that she has a shaved patch of hair that she keeps short by her right ear - but it's very obvious and striking when she wears her hair up. She wears whatever she thinks will set her apart, but her clothes tend to be black and bright red (she spends her few marks on red clothing and red lip stain) - and takes charcoal and dark colors around her eyes. It creates a rather striking look on her very pale skin - that lightly freckled all over, but especially across the bridge of her nose and cheeks, and forehead.
Personality type: ENTP-T, Debator
PERSONALITY FAULTS: rebellious/stubborn, not a person pleaser, insensitive, contradictory, dark
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: open-minded/imaginative, honest, loyal, energetic, mystic
Likes: Red & Black, Mirrors, Between, Heated Discussions
Dislikes: Fish, the Norm
FAMILY: Maraleen (mother), Vo’lec/Voturlec (father/blue rider), Votumar (brother, +2 turns), Marlova (sister, -3 turns)

Don’t tell her what to do; often she’ll do quite the opposite, just in spite of being told what to do. If she’s in a situation that allows for it, she’ll tell you exactly how she’ll be doing the opposite. Very little will change her mind, especially empty threats – other than groveling, her stubborn and pretty foolish side will have her walking in the opposite direction you want her to be going, even if she knows how silly it is. She feels her life has been controlled by faulty thoughts, so she does all in her power to not be controlled. In her rebellious nature she’s also incredibly stubborn – simply out of will power and not caring to make others happy.
Unfortunately her stubbornness can also lead to unsound arguments and her debating can fall flat, especially when her emotions get involved.
While she does enjoy making anyone that she feels close to smile, she won’t just do something she doesn’t want to just to make them happy. It would have to be something that would be good for them.
Not the cuddliest in nature, Lema will often come off sort of cold, just because of her insensitivity. Her quest for new answers and thoughts – malleable concepts, trumps any thoughts if her questions might hurt one’s feelings. Also, if one isn’t able to combat her words at all or gives her nothing in response, she’ll subconsciously dismiss them as people, rather than just the idea that didn’t hold up.
It won’t be often she’ll tell you that you’re wrong, but more often she’ll question everything and won’t be afraid to voice them. Her contradictory ways can be quite tiresome and frustrating, just because it always seems she doesn’t agree with you… when she could very well be agreeing with you, but just playing the devil’s advocate.
Anything practical or day to day matters bore her – she’d rather put her mind to work in things that allow her thoughts to change and discover.
She’s obsessed with between and all things dark. Most of these involve the superstitions from Mirran. For example, she likes to keep two mirrors in her room that slightly angle toward each other in hopes to free lost souls stuck between, and she’s never lost her sight or whatever those in Mirran believe about it. Not really a fault, except that morbid and dark things don’t bother her.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: open-minded/imaginative, honest, loyal, energetic, mystic
Lema is open to all sorts of ways of life – and doesn’t feel like there’s one correct way of thinking. While she’s good at playing devil’s advocate, she also enjoys learning how others think and picking them apart until she understands them. She can be rather ruthless in this way, but means well and is usually in good humor and purpose. She’s open to new ways of thinking and adapts to the little things that she might feel she agrees with. This is also due to her imagination and how it lends to her problem solving skills. “I’m sure we can think up something.” Is not an uncommon thing from her lips, but the problem solving is usually for others and not fixing her own life. She enjoys poems and riddles – words that confuse or enlighten people.
If she seems deceitful at all, it would be simply because she’s trying to avoid telling those in charge what she’s up to. Besides her trouble-making capabilities, she really is honest at heart and if you ask her, she’ll tell you quite bluntly what you want to know. It makes her the type of friend (or enemy) where you always know where you stand with her, you won’t have to wonder if you simply ask. And she always tries to do what she feels is best, her actions are genuine and never meant to harm others (unless you’re telling her what to do).
Along the same lines, she’s quite the loyal friend. After her experience with her childhood friend, she does have anxieties of it happening again, but it also spurred certain neediness. She craves friendship and acceptance, but won’t change herself to get it – she believes you either take her as she is, or not. And in return, she offers her loyalty and honesty.
She’s not what you’d consider bubbly, but she has an energy and fire within her that burns bright. Her energy manifests in confidence, even if she doesn’t actually feel that way. Her energy, as helpful as it is in her endeavors, often needs an outlet – because it can become nervous energy if she’s sitting for too long with nothing to occupy her mind. She hates running, but she’ll do it if she’s feeling anxious. There was a corner of Mirran where sports were popular, and she discovered something akin to boxing. She doesn’t have a lot of finesse, but enjoys punching things when she’s feeling particularly angry or moody. It’s given her a physical strength that enjoys to attempt to use on her older brother, and likes to give a friendly punch on the shoulder in greeting those she either enjoys being around, or adds a little ‘oomph’ to her punch when she doesn’t like you.
Death fascinates her and she’s always wondered what happens after death. The cycle of life is sort of her belief, but that perhaps there’s more to it than the physical. While she’ll make fun of Mirran superstitions, she has her own mystic thoughts. She likes things like science that can be played with, but wonders if there’s more to life than the things you can touch.

FAMILY: Maraleen (mother), Vo’lec/Voturlec (father/blue rider), Votumar (brother, +2 turns), Marlova (sister, -3 turns)
HISTORY:
Her mother grew up in a humble home in Mirran with lots of children, her parents had hoped to try their luck at getting twins. Her own mother had been very superstitious and Maraleen, a middle child, picked up on the trait. When she moved out she opted to try and impress, but never did, but it was how she met her husband Vo’lec – meeting up during a tumble in random closet during a Gold rising. They bonded over that first baby and ended up together. She worked as a drudge in the Weyr as their family grew.
Because of her mother’s superstitions, Maraleen tried to hide her daughter's flaming red hair from the time of infancy. The random gene surfacing after multiple generations – so long ago, that her mother could only assume that it was a bad omen, not something that her great great grandmother had passed to her daughter.
Maraleen had a miscarriage after having Lema’s little sister Marlova. Maraleen says she should have taken that as a sign – because they tried having another child after that, a daughter was born, but only lived a matter of hours. Lema was around seven or eight turns old at the time, and remembers it a little – but especially the moment her father disappeared between with the little body to bury it between. She feels like her spirit is trapped in between – so she keeps two mirrors facing each other in her room, in hopes that she can free her sister’s spirit from between.
Around this age she made a friend: Sornei. They spent a lot of time skipping crèche classes and exploring the Weyr, generally speaking getting into trouble. The two were thick as thieves and though some of Lema’s thoughts made Sornei uncomfortable, she liked to think she was Lema’s light- and she’d say as much. Like, when she found out about the mirrors, she told Lema that she’d save her from insanity. They did about everything together, from crushing and stalking boys to stealing sweets from the kitchen, that is until her family got lucky with a pair of twins from a gold flight. Sornei’s family got raised to Mirrish, and the change was almost immediate. They secretly hung out for a while, meeting together away from others to talk about their lives, but mostly how Sornei’s life was changing. Lema started in with her strong words, questioning everything – and offended her friend a couple times, but mostly Sornei was making new friends and she showed up with less frequency to their outings. After a couple of no-shows, Lemarovah gave up on her friend, turning angry and bitter toward the Mirrish class for stealing away her friend.
Her mother was constantly having her wear hats and even trying product in her hair to mute its red tones. This made Lemarovah super aware of her hair - and she tried cutting it off, cutting it super short on one side of her head. Her older brother caught her and put a stop to it. It eventually grew out, but as she got older she continued to keep that rectangular patch of hair by her right ear short - and in her later teens shaved the area to attract more negative attention, but also felt it was an ode to her past - and a reminder to never be ashamed of who she was.
Her obsession with between and dark things grew. She’d sketch for fun – and her sketches grew darker, creating creatures she imagined lived between. She started poking fun at superstitions, finding them more and more faulty in logic and thought – and yet thrived on them at the same time. Not everyone shunned her for her hair color, but she had enough people think associating with her red-head was unlucky, that she started to embrace the things that people tossed to the side. Red became her favorite color, along with the color black. She would carry something red with her, touching it to comfort her when her differences made her more of an outcast. At age 16 she hit a rebellious streak and started to be more loud with her rebellious nature, wearing red under her jacket so she could surprise as spook others if they annoyed her or said something rude. It hurdled downhill and by 17 she was wearing mostly red and black that she’d dye herself – creating a bubble of social absence – except for a rare few Mirranese who thought she was amusing.
She’d been standing as a candidate for many turns in hopes of impressing a dragon, if anything so she could go between and wanting to know what it was like. Her father wouldn’t take her, for there had been no reason to and as her parents caught on to her behavior, didn’t want to encourage it. By the time she started showing her rebellion blatantly, her time her dreaming of impressing a twin green with her friend-that-shall-not-be-named had faded and she only wanted a blue, because she’d heard her father talk about how female blue riders were discreetly transferred away. However, her dreams of escape were already being planned by those in Mirran who wanted Lema gone and not disturbing the Weyr with her strange ways. A couple turns later at age 19 turns, her parents were told that Lema was being given the honor of being gifted to Mavros as a candidate. Overjoyed, she took the opportunity (as if she really had a choice, the one time being told what to do was a blessing), hardly looking back and excited to see what else the world thought about life. Not everyone was like those in Mirran, right?
