Her eyes flew open, and she took a ragged breath. “Shards.” She muttered, sitting up from her double cot, throwing off her blanket quickly. She felt way too warm.... She almost jumped when she looked up to see Amagetith looking at her, one of her whirling eyes close enough to touch. They were whirling quickly, and the eye was studying her curiously.
You think of him a lot.
No, I dream about him a lot. Well, not that often. It's completely out of my control.
Why?
Why? Because when I sleep I’m not conscious of my thoughts. Hence the sleeping.
No, why do you dream about him?
Shards, she was too warm for this conversation. She grabbed her tank and pulled at it, unsticking it from her sweaty skin a few times, trying to encourage airflow for the skin to dry.
Probably because he was annoying… And made an impression. Siorreya scooted to the edge of her double sized cot to reach for one of her long sleeve shirts. She needed to go for a run. Now. She pulled it on and grabbed for a pair of looser capris she had worn earlier this week, and then her running shoes.
Why do you need to go for a run?
To expel some of my… energy. And cool down.
It’s the middle of the night. And won’t running make you warmer?
Never to late or early for an adventure, as you say. Plus, it’s pretty chilly out there, and if running doesn’t work, then I can dip in the lake. Do you want to come?
And watch you run? No, that sounds boring. I am still tired. I want to go to the beach in the morning.
You want to go to the beach every morning.
Well… We could go to Mount Chariath instead.
How about we talk about it after my run? Or in the morning?
Fine. The green laid her head back down, and her eyes slowly closed. Have a good run, mine.
She planned to. She started out slowly, but picked up speed as she exited the weyr, directing herself toward the lake. She was relieved her mossy green had decided against coming with her, she didn’t want to think, and sometimes when she had these feelings, the curiosity drove the questions, and the questions forced her to think. Sometimes about him.
She didn’t understand why she was having these feelings. She had had a simple crush on him far back when they had gone to the Glass-Craft Hall. It had passed quickly as most of her crushes had, especially when he had turned out to be so boring and focused all the time. It had been more fun to annoy him then anything else, at least back then. Now, he was a man. A little more relaxed, so much quicker to throw words at her, and to outthink her, which was difficult enough to do, man. A normal woman would feel aversion towards him, right? He had made her feel more deeply in the short afternoon they had spent together than any other man had in an actual bed with her. Or even sparring words across a meal, or during excursions with others. He had been amusing, compelling, and engaging. He had also been beyond vexatious. “By Faranth.” She muttered breathlessly. Picking up her speed. She was not supposed to be thinking about him. She had done enough of that already. It was time to move on. Move past. Why was this turning into a problem?
He would either end up as Lord Holder, and so be beyond her reach, or he would leave, and then there would be no more of him. No more thinking about him, no more worry about herself control, and no more hope-She shook her head focused on every rock she felt through her footwear. Any give the ground gave under her. She focused on the crisp air and the burn in her lungs. She focused on anything and everything around her. She reached the lake after a seemingly endless amount of time trying to distract herself. She stripped her long sleeve off, and her pants, but didn’t dare remove any more articles of clothing. She knew that some riders carried strange hours, and she didn’t need any more surprises, or to put herself in a compromising position.
She ran right into the water, and quickly submerged herself, all the sudden shivering beyond control. Shells, it was freezing. This was the wrong time of the year to need to cool herself down. She hoped he didn’t become Lord Holder. She hoped he left. She also hoped she would see him at least one more time, if only for the satisfaction of winning their game. Siorreya shook her head and submerged again, staying under the water, holding her breath until she couldn’t and letting it out violently, bursting back to the surface and the cold cold air. No, he probably didn’t have any problem forgetting about her and focusing on his task at hand. Sio just needed to maintain that ideal of him. He would only lose their game because his ambition meant more to him.
She needed another man. Someone to cleanse him from her palate. Someone to help her refocus. To let go. Someone less annoying. Less charming... Or more charming? She let out a growl and moved back toward the shore and her clothes. She didn’t bother drying herself off, better to be uncomfortable and think on that. She dressed and headed back to her weyr, focusing on her shivering and shaking. Focusing on her lips, which were probably blue, and trembling. Her wet hair dripping down her back was also a nice distraction. She held onto the thought that at least she had won their game, whether she saw him again or not. She had fulfilled every dare, one more then him, and even if she saw him again, he would fail to go through with his last dare. She was confident enough in that. She held onto it. He made her so incredibly angry, she would hold onto that as well. His smug face. His laugh. Sharding man.
"Errg." She headed to the bathing room, having to fight turning back around and heading out on one more run. She better not fall asleep with him on her mind. If he started disturbing her sleep, what precious little she could get with Ama around, then she would make his life a living Between. Well, only if she saw him again. She allowed an amused smile at the thought of seeing his face, her own smug smile she would be able to boast herself. If she saw him. Which, it was becoming more and more clear that that probably would be a bad idea. She sure loved bad ideas. They did make life interesting, didn't they?
