Riyobith had grown quite a bit in the months since her hatching, but she hadn’t yet slowed down in her growing, and that meant the baths were frequent. And something that grew more and more strenuous as she got bigger, but Aleni couldn’t complain too much. Her beautiful gold needed to be kept in good condition, no matter how big she got. It just meant she had to put more time into it the older Riyo got.
At least she was cooperative, thank Faranth for that. As always, she started from Riyo’s nose, working carefully over the softer skin there and going back over her head, down her neck to her chest and the heavy expanse of her frame, legs and toes and then the entirety of each wing, and finally the length of her tail. And that was just the soaping. Covered in the lather, Riyo rose and padded the short distance to the lake and plunged in, rinsing the foam from every inch.
Then it was back to a dry, soap-free patch to spread herself out and let Aleni go over her once more, this time with a rag drenched in oil. Busy in her work, she didn’t notice at first she had company until Riyo’s head came up and she rumbled a friendly greeting; straightening and pushing damp hair out of her face with her forearm, Aleni blinked at Talera and smiled, offering a bow as she dropped the rag on the edge of the bucket. “Good morning, Talera,” she replied, echoing Riyo’s Good morning, Aerroth’s.
A slight hesitance before she continued, “May I ask what brings you here?” It served to be polite, considering she was still a weyrling, regardless of the fact that both their dragons were gold.
