Faceclaim: Nick Robinson
NAME: K'var
RANK: Brownrider, Weyrling
AGE: 17 turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual, he thinks? He really isn't sure.
DRAGON: Brown Kabutenth (7c2121)
PETS: Cilla – Green Firelizard
APPEARANCE:
While Khavar will probably never be what you call ‘handsome’, he is still cute enough to turn a few heads. Time will really tell whether that changes as he ages. For now, he’s only got an average, rather lanky form; strong enough to do the job, but with the possibility to fill out into a rather well-built man with age and a bit of workload. He has no scars, for better or worse, since don’t the girls like those? His face doesn’t help him look older, with its round, younger shaped features and fair skin tone; it works for him though, adding to by his warm, deep brown eyes, his darker brown hair, and slightly pouting lips. He’s got a hell of a smile too… if you can get him to smile, that is. (Height;6'0"/Weight;176 lbs)
Face Claim: Nick Robinson
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Khavar is a wounded spirit. Right now, he just wants to do anything but talk about his family; he’d rather do chores then dwell on what he’s lost, and that’s saying something for the Harper wannabe. A bit of a daydreamer, he’s prone to simply staring off into space, and can often be found doing just that if he has nothing to do otherwise – simply gazing into a fire or cloud-watching. He is truly a romantic heart, which seems to work more against him than for him; still hurting from what happened, he comes off a quite cold to most of those of the opposite gender, making him appear aloof and a bit sexist. He doesn’t want new lovers, even if he can manage it. He just wants a dragon so he doesn’t have to go home.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Creative and quick-witted, Khavar is artistic and sweet for the most part. If you catch him at the right time, he’s always got tales, songs, jokes or something else to share to make a person smile. Though he’ll never be Master Harper quality, or maybe even Journeyman. But he still loves to spin stories, and he does it well for the most part. He’s really a gentle person, a great hugger, and a steady friend if you can win him over. He loves to help people, as long as he doesn’t have to get too emotionally close to them, but he knows it’s bound to happen eventually.
FAMILY:
Father; Talevar
Mother; Kalika
Siblings; 3 Brothers; Traven, Delich (older), and Taliuk (younger)
Other: Colette, former love interest, now sister-in-law
(and a few uncles, aunts, so on I really don’t want to name right now)
HISTORY:
To hear his parents tell it, Khavar had a normal upbringing and anything that happened was typical sibling issues with more than a few bumps in the road. From Khavar’s point of view, it was nothing short of hell. For as long as he could remember, his brothers had pushed him down, stepped on him; none worse than Traven, only two turns his senior, but mean as a wild wher. His parents managed to break up the spats most of the time, but every so often it got out of hand. Normally, Khavar was the one to get the blame.
Targeted early by an uncle to be apprenticed in Tannercraft, Khavar could have cared less to be honest. He would have rather spent his time working on stories, reading tales and the like – his heart was set more on being a Harper than a Tanner; more ladies and freedom, less funky smells and hard labor. He tried to dodge his father and his uncle, but it never really worked; more often than not, he was caught and yelled at, then drug off to sit for hours as his uncle lectured him and tried to teach him the craft he had no interest in. Traven? He got Smithing; a good place for the boar-brain beast to be, in Khavar’s thoughts.
His world flipped head over tail when he met the baker’s younger daughter, a perfect creature with ebony hair and bottomless blue eyes. He was almost instantly taken with Colette, as were most boys in their hold. And, unfortunately, that included Traven. Khavar wasn’t sure if his brother actually liked Colette, or was just chasing her to drive him mad. In spite of it all, he tried hard to impress her; often resulting in yet more fights his brother for her attention. And more blame. He tried to think of ways to woo her, win her, to keep her for himself – heavy thoughts for a boy barely out of his fourteenth turn.
In his mind, she felt the same. And at times, she did. She flirted with him, accepted his requests for dances at the Gathers, and often stole away from her own chores to come see him at his tanner duties with lunches or simply to talk. He was over the stars – she was perfect, and she loved him! They both would spend hours in the grasses, talking about the future, how they wanted to leave the Hold and move to one of the bigger ones. She could open her own little Baker’s shop, and he would be there to help her and possibly follow his dreams of being a Harper.
Khavar was Searched by a lithe Green Dragon and her rider just after his fifteenth; both good and bad. Good because it let him escape his droll future as a Tanner – but it meant he had to leave Colette to go with the Dragon. He promised, promised he would return to the Hold for her as soon as he Impressed, somehow in his confused brain thinking that it would be only a month or so, and he would be able to come steal her off to the Weyr. The look on Traven’s face when Khavar agreed to go was Nothing short of full jealousy.
But Turns passed, and things didn’t drop the dice in Khavar’s favor. Still a candidate after almost two whole turns of Standing, he regrets taking the Greenrider’s offer. He should have stayed home. If he had, Colette might be his still. Instead, letters came to from family announcing her handfasting to Traven just after his seventeenth Birthing Day… and the rumor was she was already heavy with child. His Colette… HIS! It broke the boy a bit, and he pulled back from those around him. He just … hurt.
With many years of Standing ahead of him, he still jumped at the offer to shift over to another Weyr to stand for their upcoming clutch. It wasn’t a forced offer, for the reputation of Mavros was enough that no Weyr was going to force its people to even set foot in the place unless they truly wanted to. Did Khavar want to? No, not really… but it wasn’t going to miss any chance to Stand. A turn ago, he wanted to Impress to show up his brother and impress the woman that held his heart.
Now, a little wiser and hurt in the heart, he just wants to Impress so he won’t ever have to go home again. Ever.
