(Played by Dan Reynolds)
NAME: S’goi (Shintagoi)
RANK: Bronzeweyrling
AGE: 21 Turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
DRAGON: Bronze Ramacuth [x]
PETS:---
APPEARANCE:
S'goi clips his loosely curly hair short on top, and shaves it to a buzz on the sides in reminiscence of his father. He generally has a thin goatee and mustache on his face, though he keeps it very well groomed. Everything about him is clean and crisp, as if he feels he has a status to uphold. As the son of a bronzerider, he does. He carries himself with pride, like one carries themselves after Turns of being compared to Pern's best and brightest. His build isn't overly masculine, nor edging into feminine territory. He has perfectly wide shoulders and an impressive amount of muscle for someone who has recently entered Candidacy. He isn't the manliest man, but he fawns over what muscle he has and likes to think about what it will be like after Turns in the Wings.
He has a square shaped face, with moderately sized ears and decent proportions overall on his face. He has a small nose and thin -but full- eyebrows. His hair overall is a dark brown, and if left to grow out it would simply fall down his back. His eyes are moderately set apart and are a vibrant blue, usually locked in a condescending glint. Not only does he look down on others figuratively, he does literally- he stands at 6'4". His lips are a little on the thin side, but aren't too thin. Overall, he might not be too much of a pretty boy, but he is handsome in his own right.
He tends to wear the best clothing he can, to show off his high upbringing. While he doesn't always wear formal wear, when he does it's clean and crisp. Darker colors seem to fit him best, and so that's what you'll find him in. The best clothes, the best shoes, the best furs; he aims for the best and has no problem rubbing it in your face.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
S'goi is by himself, for himself- it wouldn't be too hard to believe that he might think Rukbat rose just to light his world, that the stars existed for him to stare at. He believes he's something great and that he's destined for everything good, and that he only deserves the best. Narcissistic and self-righteous, S'goi's high upbringing is evident in everything he does. He is extremely colorist, believing that greens are the lowest of dirt and that blues aren't much better. Browns are respectable but have to work extremely hard to get anywhere, and bronzes are the great man's dragon. Any successful man has a bronze by his side, in his opinion. Greens and blues work maybe for a little while in Threadfall, but only as feeble wingriders. S'goi believes he is higher than that, and he will do anything to assure that his dreams come true.
He is also rather conservative, viewing women as subservient and belonging in more 'feminine' jobs. He is openly scornful of female candidates that aim for fighting dragons, and negative towards the female riders themselves. The one perk he sees is that he would be less likely to win a man's Flight- but then again, he's aiming for bronze. Bronzes aren't active chasers of greens. Also rather homophobic, he sees it as behavior that belongs in the realm of greenriders and blueriders. Much of his opinions circulate around women and colorism, but mainly it circulates around himself. So yeah, charming lad all around.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Even outside of his prejudices, S'goi is an opinionated and bold young man - but he's not unintelligent. He knows how far he can push things and he has a knack for avoiding harsh punishment. Very rarely, in fact, does he get involved in physical confrontation - though he's all too happy to goad others into it. With a relatively smart head on his shoulders, he could be a more pleasant person to be around if the world didn't revolve around him. Though, he retains a relative amount of charisma, perhaps from his father, and tries to manipulate the others around him to like him.
Though he finds woman riders to be absolutely insane, and woman Crafters even crazier, he would absolutely dare not hit a woman. Indeed, he is quite the romantic, even if the romance is more for his own personal pleasure. He doesn't fall in love often, per say, but he enjoys the company of women and would rather not get them angry in order to avoid them leaving him. While he is a bit of a player, he is respectful of the "feminine" women and will use everything he's got to lure them in. Absolutely not a wife-beater, he would be kind to any weyrmate he could get, though they would somehow have to see through the thick cloud of narcissism. Hey, there's someone for everyone!
He's friendly-ish to other men, too. Well, as friendly as a self-absorbed jerk can be, anyway. Anybody he finds worthy of his time will find a friend who's in love with partying and fun. While he's not loyal, per say, he'll put up that illusion and keep it up for as long as it suits him. It's positive until he stabs your back, anyhow.

HISTORY:
In the bitter cold of Telgar Weyr, Shintagoi was the third son of S'gon and Leanta's union. S'gon had many other sons from other won and lost Flights, but his serial-chaser bronze Bazzath always seemed to return to gold Enith. While they weren't the Weyrleaders, the two were high enough in rank to provide their children together with the best food and living conditions. They were affectionate enough with each other that the union wasn't horrible, but they were more close friends than lovers. So, Shintagoi was born into a life many other boys would envy, with the perfect pedigree; S'gon was the latest bronzerider in a line of bronzeriders, and Leanta herself was the daughter of a bronzerider. Shenloi and Seatol were glad to have another brother, even if they didn't particularly like each other, and the two Turns until Ollena's birth were uneventful. Even then, Ollena came happily and was another healthy child. A perfect life, it seemed.
Born into an influential family of staunch conservatives, Shintagoi was instilled with prejudices that shaped his opinions of the present. His life was...pitifully uneventful. The equivalent of a rich-boy in Terran society, he was given the best learning materials and received the highest education a Pernese boy could hope for. Though, he didn't want to be a Harper or any of that; he wanted to be a dragonrider. All three boys were expected to Impress a high color when they were old enough, and S'gon even bought them riding jackets in preparation for their eventual Impression. Meanwhile, Ollena was expected to Impress gold, but she would eventually take up a job as a seamstress in the meantime.
Eventually, when Shenloi was fourteen Turns he Impressed to a bronze, and soon Seatol would follow with brown. They each became S'loi and S'tol, and when Shintagoi was fourteen he first stood. He was left standing, a shock to himself. But he was set on trying. For each successive clutch, he would Stand, and fail each time. While the disappointment was evident in S'gon, he didn't let it obviously show and didn't mention it. Even his younger brother, Lezloi would Impress a bronze and become L'loi. While other boys his age were either Impressing or progressing in their Crafts, Shintagoi was carrying on his job with half-hearted effort. If not for his parents, he likely would've been kicked from it. The messenger job was simply a formality until he Impressed, after all. If he ever did.
When Shintagoi hit nineteen Turns, a blue landed in Telgar's 'Bowl. It was an unfamiliar blue, and it disrupted the lives of many other dragons. The blue was not from Telgar or any of the other Weyrs at all; it was from the rogue Weyrhold, the fools that refused help and were surprised when it was withdrawn. The blue looked at Shintagoi and confirmed that he was capable of Impressing, something that he already knew. At first, his father was firmly against it, but then Shintagoi came up with an idea; he would go to Mavros, Impress bronze, and then shape their politics into something more proper. He felt that he could fix the wrongs of the Weyrhold and make it normal, rid Pern of its strange ways. With those points made, he was allowed to accept Search without being disowned by his family.
Mavros was a nuthouse; it could barely support itself, and its Weyrleader was horrid. A greenrider as his Wingsecond? How absurd! However, the large clutch looked very promising indeed. There was even a huge egg, unlike any he had ever seen; surely it held the massive bronze of every boy's dream. He'd begun to harass a dirty pirate girl named Karolinna, and didn't think she would ever Impress at all; she had no ounce of womanly grace. However, the Hatching would prove to be the most disasterous thing he'd ever set his wonderful eyes upon. Three Hatchlings betweened, including a perfect bronze. Shintagoi did not Impress, but he was almost glad to; two women Impressed brown, one of them being that no-good Karolinna. But even worse, a man who was hiding as a woman fooled a gold into Impressing him, ultimately plastering that class in drama and rumors.
If the day could get any worse, his brother S'tol had arranged to meet him at night to give him grace news. First, his sister Ollena Impressed- but not to a gold. No, she was chosen by a blue, something that would not be accepted in his family. She had been passed up by the gold, who'd chosen the Holdless-born Toleza instead. Shin's sister was promptly disowned and tossed aside, losing any benefits she had from her previous status in the Weyr. Even worse, their mother was sick (with cancer), and she was given a maximum of six fortnights to live. Shintagoi was too far to be there for her when she eventually took herself and Enith between. Was Mavros really a good idea after all?
Months before she was due to die, Leanta took herself and Enith between.
