The smile Kylori had offered both rider and dragon at her return only caused Mollin to offer one in reply.
“Shells, but you are a pretty one,” Mollin said without thinking. She turned and secured the straps about Daltilith’s neck before extending her hand for the other girl to take it.
“Ever ride a runnerbeast before? Same sort of motion. Up and over. Hug your knees against his neck ridges, and then secure those straps about your waist. Once you’re settled, I’ll mount. And then, I get the immense pleasure at you holding onto me on the flight back.”
Once they were ready to lift off, Mollin offered a word of warning as she slid her goggles down over her face.
“We’ll go between as soon as we’re high enough in the air. It’s dead cold, but we won’t be there long. Just - don’t panic, all right? It’ll be utterly dark, and you won’t feel as if you’re holding onto anything, but don’t let go of me.”
After another moment, the blue launched himself from his haunches and into the sky. With a few powerful beats of his wings, he lifted them further into the air.
Ready? he asked the candidate.
“Even if she’s not, we’ve got to get going,” Mollin laughed.
Suddenly, complete blackness enveloped the trio. Mollin never loved the feel of between, but it was a necessary evil, both as a timesaver, and as a lifesaver.
One, two, three.
The bright light of the day was on them once more, and the coastline of the Weyrhold below them. Daltilith announced himself to the watch dragon and began to descend toward their home.
“If you need a change of trousers and don’t mind a bit of leg, I might have a new pair for you,” Mollin shifted to turn and grin at the girl, her tone playful. “But all the same, welcome to Mavros.”
(Feel free to end it with your reply, @kylori <3)
