Face Claim: Jeremy Renner
NAME: N'ris (originally Niharis)
RANK: Bronzerrider, Wingrider
AGE: 30 turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual
DRAGON: Bronze Cinnoth #D2691E
PETS: --
APPEARANCE:
Roughly 5’9”, N’ris is a wiry man. Not thin, but not build like a herdbeast either. Not exactly lanky, he’s built well for his stature and doesn’t seem too worried about buffing up or getting more then what he is. If he exercises, it’s merely by accident, or because he has to do something that might count as a side exercise. N’ris had a very casual look about him; both in dress and features. He seems to have a perpetual smirk about half the time, the rest he just blanks on you. Stunning grey eyes and golden hair, he’s normally in loose tunics and rider breeches, almost like he doesn’t really care to try to impress the world. He is what he is, take him or leave him.
PERSONALITY FAULTS: Quirky, Wary, Outspoken, Fairly Non-committal
N’ris very much moved to the beat of his own drummer; it’s probably why he never stays in a Weyr more than a couple turns. He’s got a sense of humor that only seems to make sense to him, but that doesn’t seem to keep him from making an array of one-liner, peanut gallery comments under his breath. He comes across as a touch lazy, but really his simply laid back and generally disinterested in the chaos that seems to find him.
He doesn’t get super attached to people, or places, because he always seems to be one foot out the door in a transfer for things that he isn’t directly responsible for, but that he, in the end, is normally blamed for. N’ris was fairly Bisexual before he Impressed, and that carries on through his life as a Rider. He’s had both female and male bedmates but has never remained attached to any one person for long. No, he’s not a whore… he’s just not found that right person to put up with his shit yet.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: Relaxed, Witty, Smart, Rational
N’ris has been taught the educational basics to say the least, mostly thanks to his mother; it’s hard not to get a good education when your mother is a Weyrharper. He’s fairly good at math, reading, and writing; he can actually mend his own clothing, albeit it not as pretty as if someone with training were to do it. Strategy, weather patterns, and the like were covered in his Bronzer training. He did do four turns alongside his mother in Harper Training – but his heart wasn’t in it. He can thrill a pretty song, but he’ll never match someone with capable training.
But he’s far for your stereotypical Bronzer. He’s not bucking for some leadership position in a Wing or the Weyr; he really just wants a place he’s not going to get in trouble for breathing to close to a Goldrider. He’s reluctant to settle down and think of a place as permanent, but when he does, be ready for him to step up and voice his opinions. N’ris has no problems speaking up and telling people what he thinks if he thinks it would be helpful or stop things from going sideways. If he can feel at home, he will do everything he can to protect those around him, even from themselves if they are being idiots.

HISTORY:
Born into the flow of Benden Weyr’s brat pack, Niharis had never planned to be anything but a Dragonrider. Sure, he had to take courses and pretend to be interested in something else – in his case, Harpercraft because he could slack it off pretty easy in favor of chasing his candidate dreams. He got into his fair dose of trouble, but no more than other children that roamed the Weyr halls. He snuck onto the Sands to peek at the eggs, scaled walls looking for Flit clutches, and basically the normal antics of a child. Like all weyrbrats, he went right into Candidacy without needing to be searched and stood for his first clutch when he was just passing thirteen turns.
But, like many, he had to wait, and actually Impressed fairly late in life, for a candidate. But the wait had been worth it. Twenty one turns, and the funky, rust-hued egg dumped the beautiful, red rust Bronze with unique creamello markings into his life. Cinnoth tilted his head and remained Niharis to N’ris – and finally, he felt complete. As the son of a brownrider, he’d never hoped to Impress over his father’s color… to have a Bronze to call his own was beyond anything he’d ever thought for. He sailed through his Weyrling courses like a pro; after all, he’d had turns to learn so much more than most, and he was ready to be in the skies, joining his friends that had long since Impressed to rise into the Wings.
But, there were… well, issues. N’ris was at heart, still very much a goofy guy. You can put a clown on a Bronze, but that doesn’t make him any less of a clown. Add to that, for his time in the classes and his harper upbringing, N’ris was a fairly compassionate young man – often being the ear to listen, or the shoulder to cry on for many of his female friends. He still made better friends with women over men, mostly because Men are idiots 70% of the time and he just doesn’t care for the pissing and posturing.
Because of that, sadly – issues got him in the end. Maybe a fight, maybe his oddball sense of humor, he wasn’t sure. But, wasn’t more than a couple turns in Benden’s Wings before he found himself transferred off to Fort for ‘shuffled support.’ Oh, was THAT what it was called. He made his dislike of being shifted to Fort well known for the first turn and then settled in. And then, he made friends with a junior Weyrwoman about 3 turns his junior. Nice girl, but with a Bronzerider weyrmate that lacked a sense of humor but didn’t lack a bit of brotherhood with the current Weyrleader. So, N’ris moved to Igen Weyr.
He spent a few turns in Igen, trying to keep his head down and not cause too much issue, but that was no fun. Eventually, he opened his mouth, and his humor and antics got the best of him yet again. This time, he was given a choice – back to Benden, down to Southern, or off to Mavros. Wasn’t too hard to pick Mavros – shards, how much damage could he do there?
