Joia
K'var and Brown Kabutenth
E'rik and Brown Anatath
Locking her knees as the boy took her hand, Joia tightened her grip on his hand and leaned back to help level the Bronze Weyrling to his feet. Nova was talking enough for the both of them, bombarding the young man with some many questions in rapid succession, Joia almost felt bad for him. The bronze picked the moment to move, bumping his rider off-balance a bit again; reflex took over and Joia brought up her hands, palms and fingers catching Tak'ril before he could go tumbling into her – one hand on his arm, the other on his chest as she tensed. The contact was only a moment, and she dropped her hands and stepped back a touch. “Doesn’t know his on strength does he?”
"You alright, lad?" Joia instantly frowned at the voice, looking over as Shintagoi as he joined them. Really? Couldn’t he go annoy someone else for a little bit? Oh, wait, the Bronze. Of course, he’d want to shadow Tak’ril and his Bronze. Resisting the urge to tell Shintagoi to go away, she instead let Tak’ril handle things, taking the chance to offer her hand to the young Bronze, making sure it was okay before she joined Nova in running her hand along the Bronze’s broad neck.
She was only half listening to the conversation, just the slightest smile on her lips as Nova greeted Shintagoi and Tak’ril seemed to accept that he was getting more help than planned. Tak’ril seemed to direct the question of if they were all coming with him at her, and Joia simply blinked at him. What, all of them? She bit her lower lip slightly, thinking that if she left Nova alone with Shin, the older boy might throttle him. But to leave K’los without a word? Abandoning him for the Bronze seemed mean and –
Movement out of the corner of her eye; Joia turned, looking to see one of the other girls, Krista, moving to the young greenrider and his dragon. Something about the look in the girl’s eyes made Joia want to laugh; but instead, she shook her head. She didn’t get it. “I’m coming along. I don’t think it would be fair to leave you two alone with Tak’ril.” She turned to K’los. “Thank you, for letting me see her. She’s beautiful.”
She tried to muster a smile. “Lead the way, Tak’ril.” kevna Zen Esko
K'var and Brown Kabutenth
So very odd. K’var ducked his head, trying not to laugh at the clear feeling of confusion that radiated off his dragon. Siorreya’s bubbly and outgoing personality seemed to have caught the normally light-hearted Brown off guard. Kabutenth stood his ground as the girl reached for him, the look in his eyes was almost as if K’var was supposed to save him from some horrible faith that was about to decent on him. ‘Oh stop it.’ What if I catch it? ‘Catch what?’ Whatever makes her so…. HER. K’var shook his head, choking on the laughter as the girl gushed over the young Brown. ‘I don’t think it’s something you can catch, Kabutenth.’ How can you be sure?
The girl’s hands folded along the dragon’s neck. The contact was strong, but after a few moments, Kabutenth relaxed and turned his head to regard her as she continued to speak. She reminds me of Anatath. ‘Yea, I can see that.’ Siorreya’s questions brought K’var’s attention around, and he gave the girl a grin. “Well if you want to learn to cut meat you’re in luck, Kabutenth hasn’t had breakfast, so that will be the first thing. Then bathing, then oil. Normally, we’d already being doing it but –“ He motioned at the class. “But yea. Food first. Come on, we can talk as we walk.”
Kabutenth leaned a little into the girl’s attention, then shook himself as soon as K’var started moving. Turning, he stepped around the outside of their new friend and nudged the girl along with him, then trotted alongside them. K’var watched her and grinned. “As for size, it seems to vary Dragon to Dragon? You get strips when they hatch, but after that, it’s pretty much cutting it to the size they can chew it without them choking. Kabutenth doesn’t seem to believe in chewing, so I got about fist size, and then dice it into fours – that way I know he can breathe around it.”
E'rik and Brown Anatath
Anatath was more than happy to make a new friend. The smallest Brown in the clutch wiggled around like a happy canine, pushing his nose against the young boy’s hand. E’rik nodded at Maz’s words. “Anatath always seems to be happy. No matter what happens, he always seems to find the bright spot in it.” E’rik took the chance to push the rest of the way to his feet, dusting his hands against his leggings before reaching up and pushing some of the long, snow-pale hair out of his face and tuck it behind his ear. The smile on his lips was a shy one; he followed the other young man’s glance for a moment, then nodded.
“She’ll be okay. K’var is a good teacher; he’s been in the Weyrs longer then I have.” Eat now? The voice was a little louder then E’rik expected; the same tone Anatath used when he spoke with K’var. "Yes, Anatath. Eat Now." E’rik glanced at Maz’s face, hoping the little dragon hadn’t startled him too much and motioned him to come with the Brownrider. “I’ll explain what I can, I suppose. It’s all very new to me as well, to be honest. We can talk while we get Anatath his breakfast – he’s happy now, but if we make him wait much longer, he’ll start this little thing with his eyes that would break your heart.”
Anatath pulled away from Maz and bounded away ahead of them, probably planning to catch up to Kabutenth. As E’rik watched, sure enough, the smaller brown took the chance to pounce on the K’var’s dragon’s tail, seizing it in his mouth and shaking it like a toy. E’rik laughed, shaking his head, and stepped off with Maz hopefully to follow. “But let’s see… tell you about Browns.” E’rik frowned a little then shrugged. “They are the middle ground, I suppose. Not as big as the Bronzes, but normally bigger than the Blues. More balanced in stamina and speed, I have been told? Anatath though is on the small size, so he wouldn’t be as big as the others.” tovaana
