NAME: D'rave (Draveos)
RANK: Searchrider, Wingrider
AGE: 30
GENDER: male
ORIENTATION: bisexual, leaning towards the ladies -bigwink-
DRAGON: blue Oxyoth (ox-yoth) {x}
PETS: nada
APPEARANCE:
D'ravos has got warm brown skin, big brown eyes, and a huge silly grin plastered on his face 99% of the time. His hair is shaved close to his head and is black, and he tends to have some fashion of facial hair growing near all the time--to "charm the ladies", because he heard somewhere that girls enjoy the dashing man who has barely any time to shave his hair from his broad blocky chin (this would work better if he was the cool, dashing rider with the lickable body and blocky chin, instead of the lean, skinny dude that he is). At the very least, he has stubble. He is cute, in his own way, but he would rather be a powerful guy than a cute one.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
D'rave is a big honking dork. He's cheesy and silly and kind of a clown, sometimes without meaning to be. You don't tend to get a white-knight attitude from this guy. Frankly, he's scared of any kind of conflict. Besides for fighting Thread (which, actually, he does have nightmares about...) D'rave can be considered a bit of a coward.
This is a guy who does not like being alone in anything he does. D'rave likes do every group activity there is, but once you take him away from other people, his energizer bunny batteries seem to stop. Even with Searching--in fact, especially with Searching--he prefers to go with a partner or two. Perhaps he's afraid of missing a good candidate. Perhaps he just doesn't like not having someone to (poorly) flirt with? Who knows.
Though he's a gentleman, especially with the ladies (well, when he's not distracted by their... you know), he tends to ruin this for himself by being such an exaggerated character that no one can take him seriously. He's sorta like the boy who called wolf. Only he's the boy who called woof ifyouknowhwhatImean.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
He's quite the optimist and has a difficult time seeing the bad in people. D'rave loves his puns and his stupid jokes that make other people facepalm. He's that kind of guy--the guy who would make you giggle at/or/with him, all the time, even while in bed. Which, if that is what turns you on, go for it!
D'rave has tons of energy which he spends on dragonriding, being the obedient and hardworking rider that he is. He observes rank very closely and has no wish to start fights or get into arguments about anything. He's easy-going, not very stubborn or prideful, and has an everyone-looks-out-for-themselves kind of attitude.
He likes hanging out with other blueriders and he absolutely adores Searchriding, half because he gets to go out and go to all the gathers and everything with an easier excuse so he can (well, "hello ladies", do what he does...) and half because he honestly, earnestly, loves to see candidates he Searched, Impress on the sands.
This guy loves kids, especially weyrbrats, and tends to spend his free time helping babysit. It certainly doesn't help that the ladies like a paternal character, right, ladies? -wink- He is quite effective at childcare, surprisingly, since he can act like such an adorkable airhead at other things (read; flirting and, oh, life in general). This might have something to do with being the eldest child in a very large family.
FAMILY:
Mother Heglva (58), father Dravin (50), sister Avas (28), sister Helsa (25), sister Divie (22), sister Riva (18), brother Havin (16)
HISTORY:
Both his parents work with metal, his father is a blacksmith (those runners gotta be shod somehow) and his mother actually works with jewelry, which brings in a lot, as that's quite rare on Pern. Because they are so well off, they were able to bring in a lot of kids to the world, and also educate them quite thoroughly beyond holder harper lessons.
Draveos was going to go into smithcraft like his father when he was Searched by Mirran dragonriders and decided to go pursue his dream of being a dashing, awesome dragonrider instead and have women across all the holds falling at his feet. He achieved one of these things.
Of course, like many boys, Draveos said aloud that he wanted a bronze, but the idea of that much responsibility frankly scared him. He did not want to Impress a green, either, frightened that his feelings towards other guys would be exposed. So a blue was perfect for him. Only he hadn't expected Oxyoth. Most everybody hadn't expected Oxyoth.
When the blue hatched, there were whispers that something was wrong with him. He was such a sorrowful, pathetic creature. What a terrible attitude. What a horrible fat shape. Was he sick? Worst yet, he had been the first to hatch from his clutch--cursing the rest of it in Mirranese eyes. The poor little blue cried out pitifully but everyone seemed too shocked and unhappy to move.
Except Draveos, who couldn't help but feel sorry for the blue. He ran over to attempt to shield Oxyoth from the mean, ill whispers. The blue looked up, eyes rainbow with the light of Impresson, and D'rave was made a rider.
Unfortunately, he was made a rider at Mirran.
Not only was he a lowly bluerider, but he was a lowly bluerider of a defective, fat blue with no real abilities. Who cared if Oxyoth was expecially sensitive? He was a terrible flier and quite frankly, unmasculine for a male dragon. D'rave, not a fighter, withstood the assaults for turns because there was no other choice. No weyr would take Oxyoth--they were considered a burden.
Until Mavros. Mavros is haven for the pair, and they've flourished here. Even though there are a lot of problems with the weyr, these two would never leave it, not when it rescued them.
(No matter how Oxyoth complains)
