Appearance:
An absolute oddity like nothing Pern has ever seen before, Steleneth is somehow both gold and green at the same time. The top half of her body is largely a deep gold color, fading into a darker, tarnished gold at her head and the top sides of her wings. Meanwhile, the bottom half of her body is a sage green color, fading to lighter at her legs, belly, and tail tip. Her paws are gold, with a wide stripe of green above, and a smaller stripe of gold above that, before green takes over once more. Her tailfork is green, with a stripe of gold below, and a small stripe of green below that, while the rest of her tail is gold. On her wings are several green spots of varying sizes, smaller ones along her wing edges and a few larger ones on the main parts of her wing sails. She has a muted sheen to her, even on her green body parts, but it is not as apparent as on true metallic golds and bronzes. She is average sized for a dragon, with a heavier build than most greens but not overly so, and will be 50 feet at full growth.
Personality: Carefree, Mischievous, Headstrong, Rebellious
As both a gold and a green, Steleneth sometimes finds herself in conflict with her own nature. Because she is a gold, obedience does not come easily to her, and yet because she is also a green and can be forced to obey, it leaves her with an overall rebellious side to her that makes it very hard to get her to do anything she doesn’t strictly want to do without orders being imposed on her, which will leave her bitter and frustrated. Incredibly headstrong, she often pushes her luck and brings these things on herself, because the gold side of her refuses to be told what to do if at all possible. Her rider might be able to talk her down if the right strategy is used, but she can otherwise become rather obstinate and may cause things to turn into a battle of wills.
Though she is not at all insecure about who she is, what she is, the dual natures of being both gold and green can get a bit overwhelming for her. She will never let it show in public, but in private with her rider she may lapse into occasional episodes of somber frustration in need of reassurance and comfort, for she cannot truly be gold or green, only something confusingly between, and for a dragon in which a strict hierarchy is programmed and ingrained, it is difficult for one to fall into a sort of gray area such as she does. She tends to bounce back quickly with the right response from her rider and does not like dwelling in this low place for long, using her headstrong nature to pull herself out of it more often than not.
Other than these occasional private lapses, Steleneth is otherwise an incredibly confident individual who generally seems to revel in her different-ness. She enjoys her unique individuality for the most part, and even though it can get confusing for her she does not wish she was either one color or another, only that her place in dragon hierarchy was perhaps a bit more defined, or that she could stand outside of it altogether. She is rambunctious and carefree, for though she is a gold she will never have the same level of responsibility because she is also a green. She lives to show off and have fun, to go on adventures and experience new things. She has a mischievous streak when she's bored and isn't above stirring up a little trouble simply to entertain herself. While she will step in to take charge if no other dragon does, she would far prefer to leave such matters to others so she can play instead of work.
Steleneth is a friendly and rather chatty dragon and is more than willing to speak with anyone. When it comes to rising, she will be fickle in her affections and is unlikely to choose any male twice in a row, not with so many options available to her! When she does clutch, she will not have a gold’s strong brooding instinct and will be more than happy to leave her clutch rather than spend a month cooped up in the hatching cavern doing nothing, so long as someone she trusts is able to look after them anyway. She will even happily continue to fly against Thread while her clutch hardens, with little worry for them for surely the Weyr will take care of them whether she is there or not.
Extras: She sort of has the opposite of OCD, she can't stand when things are orderly. If there's a line of things, she'll mess them up, run over straight lines in the sand, or whatever so that things appear more chaotic - it seemed to make her heart happy. She loves things that are unique and special - not boring things that everyone has. Stel also loves seeing the world differently, even as simple as upside down. Once she learns how, she'll love doing barrel rolls over and over again, and gliding upside down as long as she can.
EXTRAS
Rises: for the first time after 1 ½ Turns of age; if no clutch results: once a Turn during an Interval, twice a turn during a Pass; if a clutch results: once every 2 Turns during an Interval, once a Turn during a Pass.
Caught By: Bronzes, Browns, Blues
Clutches: Does not clutch after every Rise, clutches sporadically, around half the eggs in her clutches tend to be duds.
Bronze Sire - maximum of 12 eggs with up to 1 Bronze, 2 Browns, the rest Blues and Greens. (4-7 viable)
Brown Sire - maximum of 10 eggs with up to 1 Brown, the rest Blues and Greens. (3-6 viable)
Blue Sire - maximum of 8 eggs with up to 1 Garnet, the rest Blues and Greens. (2-5 viable)
In the dragon hierarchy, she most closely ranks as somehow both bronze and brown at once. While golds can easily compel obedience from her, they are the only ones who can. Meanwhile, she is able to compel obedience from blues and greens, but not browns or bronzes.
