L'rey :: Bronze Codrath
Of course he'd come. Family was important, even if he'd only just learned about Treyvin, and he couldn't not support Yva. As soon as he'd known the Hatching was starting, he'd pushed Cody to drop him off. The bronze didn't care enough about the eggs to stay, so he'd turned right back around and returned to their weyr, and L'rey had found himself a good spot to watch.
Two greens started off the Hatching, which made him frown, because he'd heard plenty about what that was supposed to mean. He just wasn't sure if there was truth behind it, or just human superstition. The last Hatching had started with a brown, he was pretty sure? Or it was just a brown that had Impressed first. A shrug, because it didn't really matter now, with this particular clutch.
Something was wrong with Treyvin. His half-brother had doubled over, knees in the sand and hands over his ears. He looked like he was either in pain or that he was going to be sick. Frowning, L'rey shifted forward, half-rising in his seat. S'bol was going over, bending over him and saying something... L'rey hadn't noticed the brown until he was charging forward with a high-pitched baby roar, sand spraying as he slid to a stop and quieted, and the tension that wound through Lrey's body at the fear of what the brown was going to do relaxed when Treyvin reached out to it.
Not a threat. An Impression. L'rey sat back, grinned, and rolled his eyes at Cody's expected snort of disdain. We can't all ride bronze.
No, of course not. There must be goldriders too.
We need all of them.
Of course, the weak need their...
Stop.
Cody did, a bit surprised at the strength of the command, only to snort again and withdraw into a sulk. L'rey pulled in a breath, let it out. It wasn't weakness, and he didn't like the insinuation. He watched his half-brother and the little brown walk off the sands together, already planning to congratulate the two afterward, but he didn't want to miss anything yet. Yva was still out there.
Not for that much longer, though. The maulings added a touch of drama, but neither looked... well, they were serious, but hopefully not fatal, even if there was more blood than he was comfortable seeing. More hatchings, more Impressions, and then the first green, who'd been romping happily through the ranks of Candidates, was sprawled in front of Yva, and the girl was crouching down to her.
He knew before the two had risen that she'd Impressed, and he grinned at the tiny green curled in his cousin's arms. Ignoring Codrath's grumble- "she could do better than a green!"- he rose and made his way down the Stands, hoping nobody would mind him leaving a bit early. It wasn't like he had a part to play, he was just a spectator, and the two he'd come for had both Impressed.
He found Treyvin and Yva with their dragons, giving them their first meal, and waved at both. "You Impressed! That's awesome! Tell me everything."
