A’zael :: Bronze Fath

The end of the fight was so close, but suddenly the fall through increased and A’zael strained to see what might be happening in the high position. He needn’t have bothered, Fath soon informed him, Gamathsayssheets. Thick. The bronze’s tone was heavy with an angry growl. Instead of trying to see what was happening above, A’zael quickly looked downward instead, judging just how much longer they would have to fight as conditions began to worsen. It was the worst possible time for this. Everyone was tired, many had been scored to some extent, and now Thread was falling in sheets? The coast was so close. They could let the sea take care of the worst of it, but not yet. They still had to hang on just a little longer, or the land below them would be devastated. Fath let loose a long stream of flame as it seemed like a half burned sheet was writhing toward them after escaping Breeze Wing somewhat intact.

M’kal :: Bronze Draveth

A rumbling growl vibrated beneath him and M’kal immediately thought Draveth might have been scored again, but there was no shock of pain and Draveth explained himself after a moment, Gamath warns of heavier fall through. The Thread is falling in thick sheets now. It seems we may even see some action all the way down here. M’kal turned his attention upward immediately, noting several clumps falling toward the Wing, and as those were flamed, larger clumps made it through. Shells. He gripped at his straps, chancing a quick glance below. They were so close to being done! He tossed Draveth more firestone while he still had the chance, Burn it all to between. Gladly, Draveth snarled as he let loose one of his larger flames, and M’kal didn’t think it at all unwarranted.

OOC: Gamath would have spoken to every dragon in lower Wings to warn them that fall through was about to get much heavier. Taxx and Alyx you can both play out your saves however you want, feel free to move Fath and Draveth however it works for your rescue plans~

Ny’x – Blue Nimocith

There is thicker fall through coming our way. Nimocith warned, and Ny’x blinked away her most recent daydream, shaking her head at herself. She noticed a much larger clump then normal falling toward them, and pointed it out to Nimocith, he had to twist a little in order for his flame to reach it, but it overwhelmed the clump easily enough. Ny’x felt a lump in her throat form as more and more larger clumps, and even a sheet fell through-though luckily none of them fell into their area. The bottom wing was supposed to be less threadfall, yet this felt like the middle wing, maybe even some top wing sheets!

Ny’x licked her lips, a nervous habit, and tasted ash. The ocean was so close, they just had to last a little bit longer, and then they would be free to return to the weyr. A new work would begin for Ny’x, she would make herself available to Master Nadeera, but not before thanking Draveth and his rider for their save. She looked forward to that, and to the ever-approaching ocean like an addict did to their addiction. The moment they came upon the ocean, and received the order, they blinked between as a wing, and went home. Their landing was flawless, and Ny’x couldn’t help but preen just a little bit, knowing that they looked good when they landed together, she and her cloudy blue made quite the scene. As soon as she unclipped and slid off of Nimocith, she went in search of Draveth and rider, looking for the bronze-colored dragon from her memory of the remarkable save.

Siorreya – Green Amagetith

Middle wing was the best, Siorreya decided, feeling Amagetith’s sharp movement beneath her as she twisted and twirled in hot pursuit of each thread sheet, clump, or strand that came into their air zone. It was better then racing, more of a challenge, and better then chasing, because Siorreya was able to ride along and actually feel the wind in her hair and the twisty turns as the arced through the sky. Yes, middle wing was made for the greens.

Fath has informed us of thicker sheets falling through to the lower wings. There was an anticipation in Amagetith’s voice, and her red whirling eyes seemed to whirl faster.

Good. Siorreya said with satisfaction, feeling beyond prepared and exhilarated. The upcoming ocean was almost a disappointment, because she didn’t want this to end. Their teamwork, their singular focus, and the satisfaction of the job well done. They were one in purpose.

Not good. Amagetith suddenly twirled and climbed upward and forward as quickly as she could and Siorreya saw through her eyes much faster than her own and noticed what she had. A large sheet falling right towards Jarath. Amagetith was trying to get above it, to do the maximum amount of damage and break up the sheet.

Sheet, right above you! Amagetith warned the bronze, and together they knew Jarath did not have the agility to avoid it and prepared to take care of as much of it as they could. But it wouldn’t be enough. Their fire would not engulf a sheet so large, and there wasn’t time for a second pass. They would do what they could. Amagetith let loose her flame, and just as they had hoped, it broke it up into smaller pieces that some of the wind would hopefully blow away from them, though not all… The wind did end up picking up, and Amagetith bellowed in pain as one of those smaller pieces kicked up and hit her underbelly. Siorreya, so connected to her bonded cried out along with her. They visualized their place in their wing, and blinked between to escape the burning ferocious hunger of the leach attached to them, hoping they had done enough for their larger wingmate.

They exited darkness, entering the threadfight once more, only to find the ocean just beyond their reach. Only a few more lungfulls of flame, and then, once directed by Fath and Az, they blinked between to return to the weyr, ready to treat their minor burns.

K'zar of Green Lepsuth

She was tiring and the Thread, instead of lessening, was suddenly coming down heavier. Even in their low position, there was plenty to target, flames rushing forth to sear delicate-looking but dangerous spores. Lepsuth was kept busy, her fear a slow-building force against K'zar's control, heightened by the ferocity of the Fall. She was as agile as any green, and far less a target than some of the bigger ones, but it didn't mean she couldn't get scored- as already proven.

She just had to keep doing what she was already doing, and K'zar did his best to keep her fear at a manageable level.

He was the one who spotted the tangle falling toward M'kal and Draveth, the bronzepair unaware. Lepsuth, at his alert, turned to flame the net before it struck the other pair. She quailed at actually speaking to them, to warn them of her intentions, and K'zar couldn't help wincing as she let loose flames, winging past with barely any space to spare. He was going to have to explain that later; for now...

Lepsuth jolted beneath him and began writhing, a piercing shriek tearing loose. He couldn't see it, but he could feel the pain spreading too quickly across his... her chest. Just as he set the return point in his mind, the strap across her chest snapped, throwing him off balance and forcing him to cling to the green's neck with both arms, to keep from getting torn off by the wind. It took another moment- too long, too long!- to reset the point and send them both between to kill the Thread.

They emerged above Mavros, and Lepsuth dropped, alarmingly, for several feet before collecting herself again.

Hurts, she whispered, barely audible even to K'zar. Are we done, Mine?

Yeah. We're done. The Fall was nearly over anyway, and judging by the throbbing, it wasn't ideal trying to go back out. He felt the green's relief, as she landed and slumped over, only keeping her chest off the ground. K'zar slid off, pulling off gloves and goggles and helmet and dropping them as he turned to see the damage. He leaned into her shoulder, and she leaned back into his, eyes sliding closed and letting K'zar take over.

I don't like it. Too much... everything. An image of the maneuvers, of flame after flame, of getting scored and going on even though she hurt. But it's over?

Yeah, it's over. You did so well- and you even saved Draveth. He'll come thank you when the Fall's over. He'd better. That hadn't been a measly strand or two Lepsuth had flamed.

Lepsuth lifted her head to allow the Healer to examine the score, whimpered at the first stinging touch of numbweed, and then relaxed again as it eased the pain. She held still as they continued the treatment, looking forward to returning to their weyr again and putting this entire day behind them.

Muze :: Green Rylath

It felt like she had run around the whole of Mavros, and it took her a moment to realize that the ache she was feeling was bleeding from her connection with Rylath. It seemed both of them were getting better at hiding things from each other, both with the best interest of the other in mind. It had been a long Fall, but it was almost over – through the ash, flame, and wriggling sky of Thread was a reflective shimmer of what could only be the ocean. Muze felt hope, but she didn’t want Rylath to strain herself, so she went to the door of their connection and pulled, but her green let her in right away, willing to do anything to make Muze happy. The rider felt the air against her wings that ached, and each time the strong wind swirled differently it strained phantom muscles as she kept herself from getting blown too far in any one direction. Muze sighed and sent comfort her green’s way. ‘You’re doing great Rylath…can you last until we reach the ocean?’ Muze tried to hide what she wanted from her green, who fervently was trying to read what answer her rider wanted. When she couldn’t pick anything up quickly, after a moment she decided, let’s finish what we started Muzemine! Muze smiled, feeling like her green still had the energy with the amount of soreness.

Rylath’s thoughts shifted and her eyes seemed more brilliant red for a moment. Gamath says we should be wary, thread comes in thick above. Muze glanced up, watching as dragons moved about and flamed- darker spots making their way toward them. They were in the lower wing, it was supposed to be easy, but at least they had been warned. Not long after the leftover Thread showered down toward them and they wove through with flame to take out as much as they could. Her heart skipped a couple of times when larger amounts fell to the Queen’s wing than usual.

Then finally they were done. She blinked at the expanse of ocean, feeling as if it were an illusion until the salty smell intertwined with the smoky aftermath. Rylath was the one that was tired, and yet she still did most of the direction as they followed their Wing to land. Muze didn’t want to get off Rylath and so she hesitated, wondering if her sore legs would hold her up. I can carry you to our weyr! Rylath supplied helpfully. ‘No, not until your wounds have been treated, no matter how small they are.’ Muze countered, but lingered on her dragon’s neck a little longer, waiting for supplies to get to them so she could tend to the minor wounds herself.

Lo’qui :: Bronze Jarath

Heads up. Gamath says it is thick above and there are sheets getting through. Jarath didn’t sound worried, mostly there was anticipation of the challenge. Lo’qui nodded, looking up to scan above them- then back to around his mammoth dragon, making sure he wasn’t missing any coming from other directions. His neck was sore, as it usually was, at the end of a longer Fall. Just as he’d checked around them, his stomach dropped as Jarath let himself fall. Above us! And looking up he saw the silhouette of the lithe green exploding a sheet above them – and Lo’qui didn’t have enough time to blink them away before parts of the leftovers showered around them, but Lo’qui was used to situations like this and back in Ierne he probably wouldn’t have had the aide of the green. Only two spots burned and were relieved as they passed through between and over the remnants of the sheet. The bronze let out an angry roar as he flamed the miscreants to ash.

Thank you, dear Amagetith. Jarath sent toward the green in silky tones, though there was still enough Thread to ‘compete with’ that he wasn’t totally invested in the flirtations. ‘You almost sounded genuine.’ Jarath made a snorting sort sound mentally in response, I am always genuine, then winged powerfully toward a thick spot that flew toward them on the wind.

When it was all over he let the tension go and at the same time felt his body respond to the lack of Thread in the sky. They were safe. We made us safe. Jarath said proudly, the nicks on his large hide paled in comparison to the pride that pulsed through the dragon. He angled downward and waited for instructions for their Wing. ‘I’ll take care of you in our Weyr, I have some stuff there.’ Lo’qui instructed, thinking it’d be nice to already be there when sleep tugged at his sore body. You’ll be hungry. Lo’qui shrugged, he felt more tired than hungry in the moment, but he also didn’t want to argue when Jarath guided them to land with the rest of the Wing instead. The tall man sighed. ‘You’re lucky I’m tired.’ Yes, I took advantage of that, didn’t I? The dragon was subtly smug, a twinkle in his whirling gaze that was probably just the remnants of anger from Threadfall. Lo’qui rolled his eyes, but smiled. ‘Fine, I’ll find something to eat, but only after I treat your wounds. You have enough scars already.’ Scars make me look rugged. ‘You are rugged already.’ He said glancing with a tinge of sadness at the pale nicks (some longer than others) that blended in almost nicely with the curves of the stripes. At least this Fall wouldn't add to those, not if he treated the wounds right.

G’rett and Bronze Mastromideth

Gamath says heavy sheets at the end. They aren’t catching them all. G’rett frowned, turning his attention upward. This Fall had been so sharding odd it was almost laughable. ‘This can not be over fast enough.’ Agreed. Mastromideth swung left, chasing down a remnant that escaped the upper wings, determined that it would not get past them. They are trying. ‘Yea, I know. Right, Mas.’ I see it. The Bronze swung back, chasing down another scrap; a flash of fire and soot blew back over them.

Mastromideth jerked under G’rett, grumbling, and dropped. Hold on. ‘Like I have a choice?!’ G’rett managed not to yelp, slapping a hand against his ash-covered goggles to clear them. He blinked, and quickly wished he couldn’t see the scene playing out in front of him. ‘Warn them!’ Fath, Sheet - go left. I have it. G’rett held his breath, watching and hoping as Mastromideth verged sharp in his drop, flaming reaching out to lick at the silvery sheet of Thread. It caught, the fire dancing up the edges like it was a lantern wick, raining ash down on his Wingleader as the G’rett felt his dragon pull up hard, turning away so calmly to continue hunting the escaping sheets.

Joia and White Tellamuth

‘Are we done?’ Joia tried not to sound whiny, but the pulsing in her arm was becoming more of a throb now. If this was what slight scoring felt like, she couldn’t imagine what major contact would feel like! At the same time, she was secretly happy it was her that had gotten hit and not Tellamuth. She’d share the pain either way, but this way, she didn’t feel so much blame as she would have if she’d let him get hit. Not yet. Word from up sounds like we are getting heavier drifts toward the end.

Joia leaned back, tossing a little around their Wing before turning her attention up. ‘What kind of heavy? Tangles? Ropes?’ She didn’t know what they called them when fighting, she just knew what their class had called them during practice. Gamath said sheets. ‘Sheets? Like solid like cloth bedding?’ I would assume so. Oh, now THAT was a terrifying thought. As much as Joia didn’t want to think about it, she could only imagine what a ‘sheet’ of Thread could do to a dragon or rider….

Zen for the Save
