Kekoa - Candidate
Vanisha - Candidate
His new melody did nothing to impress the dragon, and he smiled indulgently at it, slightly wondrous that anything could find music annoying or a hindrance. What was life without music? The dragonet’s question for music was plain enough, wondering what the purpose of music could be when sounds alone conveyed purpose and communication. *Ah, but music is a form of communication too, and it can convey strong emotions too.” He said with some excitement, encouraged by the question. He could be persuasive, maybe this little egglet could learn to appreciate the beauty of music, especially if it could understand the true nature and purpose of music.
He brought to mind the Duty Song, how it conveyed duty to protecting Pern, he quickly switched to the Question Song, and how it communicated confusion, and then quickly switched to the Red Star Passes song, and how it inspired fear and resolve to arm and fight. *See? It can inspire and teach!*
Kekoa raised his eyebrows when the ocean did nothing to inspire relaxation or even envy of the outside world, and seemed to produce the opposite emotions in the little dragonet. He let out a breathy, confused chuckle, and wondered how best to continue this conversation, when the little dragonet started to communicate it’s interest. The picture was so clear, the way the dragonet could know just what that formation was for, the clear duty bound desire-but not just that, the desire to lead, to take charge-Kekoa wrinkled his nose. *Eh. No. The flying part sounds like fun though. Why lead, when you can follow?* It was a partial tease, but he really was interested in why this little egglet could know so young the desire to lead, when it hadn’t experienced anything yet. Didn’t children like fun first and learn duty? Not that he had learned much duty as of yet. In fact, he tried to avoid it as best he could.
Vanisha - Candidate
The reassurance and encouragement was reassurance enough that she had been forgiven of her little mishap. The resolve it sent her next, and the obvious message for her to follow her dreams made her smile again, and nod. She wanted that. She wished she could. But… She couldn’t say no, could she? How did one not care? Desire to follow the dragonet’s advice warred with her inner fears. She had tried to follow her dreams before, and here it was that they could be thwarted all at once, again. That inspired the memory of Degranik, the grief, and she quickly pushed that down, hoping to avoid her previous mishap with the little egglet. No need to burden it if she could avoid it.
Their shared amusement was a thrill for her, and Vanisha wished she could stay here, next to this little egg, until it hatched. It seemed to enjoy her compliments immensely, and their continued communication gave her a sense of true hope. Then the feeling of being surrounded by warmth and comfort, a lovely homey feeling, filled her, and she had to swallow back tears, and she did her best to reciprocate, adding an appreciation to the emotions as well. Never had her mind been so open to another. She didn’t want to hide her feelings, didn’t feel the need to with this little dragonet that seemed so willing to take her as she was. Yet she almost felt off balanced by all the openness. Why couldn’t other human beings be this way? Why couldn’t she be this way more?
The dragonet shared in her exhilaration, and it’s question had her nodding quickly-“Yes, let us fly together. There is nothing I would rather do.” She felt hope. Could this little one be her's, and she their's? It seemed too good to be true. To easy. The first she came into contact with. Maybe if she didn't impress to it, or any dragonet, and she ended up marrying Asirikai, she would be able to take reprieves, pretend, with this dragon and whoever did impress it. There was another candidate hanging behind her, she could feel the pressure of needing to rotate, but she didn’t want to. Not at all. “I cannot wait to meet you out here. It was such a pleasure getting to know you.”
