She waved her hand dismissively, “Of course, there are any number of secrets one could hide other than marks. I just don’t have a need for it. My point is I don’t care who knows about it so don’t worry your pretty little head over it. Currently I prefer you alive to dead over knowledge of a secret hole in the wall.” While it certainly wasn’t anything worth making some big announcement about, she wasn’t going to go out of her way to hide the stupid place’s existence either. If she started storing things in there and someone saw then someone saw. It wasn’t a big deal. Shells. She was still a bit caught up on whether or not he had been teasing her about killing him for knowing about it.
He made a thoughtful sort of noise and pointed her bed out to her, so very helpfully, and Nalyra had a moment to think he might be trying to get her there, but he turned away instead. She rolled her eyes at the back of his head and followed after him as he left the room, mildly amused, “Wow, thanks for that. I’m not sure how I ever could have found it without you.” She bit back several other comments that came to mind, like how she was so glad he knew where it was, and she might just need him to help her find it again later… and then put it to good use. Ugh. She was going to have to find an outlet for this frustration. Perhaps she’d have mercy on Krillish after leaving him to worry about her.
He led her to a storage room door and she tilted her head slightly at his explanation, “Mm… privacy is rather at a premium on a ship. I’m sure the rest of the crew would be glad to know of any place they can sequester themselves when they’d like to get away for a bit.” She grinned, “Fortunately, options for privacy have gotten quite a lot better for me now that I’m a captain… me and whoever I might choose to share it with.” Though to be honest she’d gotten rather used to having next to no privacy. She no longer really cared who saw or heard her when she was doing… private things. Amusingly it was usually her partners that wanted some semblance of it, though she chalked that up to her being Treyjen’s sister and the men being afraid of what he might do if he knew. It was stupid because he wouldn’t do anything so long as she wanted it.
At his mention of squeaky boards she laughed. It had just been an example she’d used, because she did want to know her new ship just as intimately she knew the Storm’s Eye, but she figured the smaller quirks would need to be learned with time. Fehloax could certainly mention them, but it wasn’t likely she would remember it all without more time to familiarize herself with the ship. She just wanted a head start. She eyed him critically, raising a brow and teasing, “Oh? Do you do a lot of sneaking about to need to know the quietest route? That doesn’t inspire much trust, now, does it?” She tsk’d at him, “My tests aren’t passed so easily.”
She considered him for a moment, and his offer, before waving her hand again, “No, if you’ve nothing a bit more useful to share… tell me, do you know how to read? Write? Or are your skills more… in the use of your hands?” Another suggestive smirk crossed over her features before she continued, “And how well do you know the ship’s hold and where everything is kept?” While the previous captain had kept a ledger which listed product onboard, Treyjen had made it clear that as the ship’s new captain she was to go over the list and double check everything so he had an accurate account of their cargo, and so she could familiarize herself with where it all was. She would rather not have to search for every little thing on the list herself if someone could point her to where certain items normally got stored. And she wouldn’t mind a little company while she completed the boring task. Inventory was the worst, particularly if done alone.
