NAME: Ki'raz (formerly Kisoraz)
RANK: Weyrling
AGE: 22 Turns
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
DRAGON: Bronze Atlath
APPEARANCE: Kisoraz takes quite a lot after his father, particularly in his striking blue-green eyes. He tends to style his dark brown hair in various ways, sometimes changing day to day, a product of his need to display creativity on his own person, perhaps. He usually has some form of a light beard, Mirran’s climate leans toward the colder side and a neatly trimmed beard helps to keep a face warm, but he still wants to look well kept so he never lets it grow too much. He stands at 6 feet even and has pale complexion one would expect from generations of cold climate living. He enjoys fashion and has quite the wardrobe, with a particular love of ornate embroidery. He certainly does not blend into a crowd based on his clothing alone, unless everyone around him is in their gather finery, at least.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Kisoraz has incredibly high expectations of himself. As the son of Mirran’s Weyrleader and Weyrwoman, he must be the best at everything he does or he brings shame on his entire family. As such he often over works and over stresses about things and takes failure incredibly hard, taking it out on himself in the form of excessive mental berating. In the face of failure, he is known to avoid the subject for lengths of time and lose himself in his art, using it as a form of escapism, and becomes easily irritated and snappish if interrupted and forced back to reality.
From his upbringing in Mirran, as part of the Mirrish caste, he has incredibly traditional beliefs and biases he really doesn’t realize the rest of the Weyrs on Pern might not share. Between the Azovite Harper propaganda and contact with those outside Mirran being very limited for him for most of his life, he is not likely to realize that his beliefs and biases might make him come off as… well… a bit of an ass. Not to mention that the unique superstitions and traditions that Mirran holds are also likely to make him seem eccentric at best, if not outright crazy at times. With his sheltered upbringing he can also be rather naive, and is likely to find himself saying or doing embarrassing things as he transitions to a life outside of Mirran. Embarrassment tends to put him in a defensive and antagonistic state, where he will attempt to throw others’ weaknesses back in their faces to distract them from his own blunders.
His greatest desire in life is to please his parents, to make them proud of him, and to do this he is willing to go to great lengths and compromise his own personal values and morals, though to what extent remains to be seen.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Overall, Kisoraz is a relatively friendly individual. While many in the Mirrish caste shun the company of those outside of it, Kisoraz has never had much issue interacting with anyone. While he does have certain expectations about how others should treat him based on his status, so long as he isn’t overtly disrespected he treats others with respect, and sees his status as also a responsibility to help those less privileged. This has an unfortunate tendency to go unappreciated outside of Mirran, where he comes off more pompous than generous, but it really is coming from a good place.
While he lacks his father’s natural manipulation skills, he has inherited the man’s charisma and is quite well spoken, polite, and charming. He is a rather genuine person, actually, and manipulating anyone is generally the farthest thing from his mind (something he is reluctantly rethinking on his arrival to Mavros and the assignment his parents have given him). He is however an incredibly creative individual, and should he turn it toward a less noble purpose, manipulation is not outside of his capabilities. He has an eye for beauty and luxury and a deep appreciation for finery and craftsmanship.
An intellectual, he could spend hours listening to and conversing with masters from any craft about their vast experience and knowledge in their fields, and be genuinely interested in all of it. As his father enjoys saying, knowledge is power, and Kisoraz takes that statement quite seriously, though not for any devious means. He is ambitious and desires the responsibility of leadership in order to improve his home and help those he leads, and also to make his family proud, rather than for the reward of personal gain. After all, as a privileged Mirrish man, he has wanted for little in his life that leadership would ever grant him.

HISTORY:
Born a middle child of six to Mirran’s Weyrwoman Isorel and Weyrleader O’zel, Kisoraz grew up with the expectation that he would Impress bronze one day, or brown at least, though there was never any misunderstanding that a bronze was expected, particularly after he watched his elder brother Impress a brown and saw the disappointment from both of his parents over it. Such a shame his mother would often mutter about it, though his father at least was less vocal about his disappointment. O’rel was not shunned or disowned for it, for a brown was still respectable, kept his brother among the Mirrish caste of Mirran, even if barely, but Kisoraz grew to fear Impressing a brown one day and seeing the same looks on his parents’ faces, hearing his mother sigh about his wasted potential. But there was great joy in the family when only a few turns later, his elder sister Kirasori Impressed the gold their mother’s own gold had recently clutched, and the muted disgrace of O’rel’s brown Impression was mostly set aside. Of course there was never any doubt in his parents that their daughter would Impress gold, the girl only allowed into candidacy when a gold egg was on the Sands and groomed for it since she was small.
It was expected that Kisoraz would be next to Impress, and the pressure to Impress a bronze weighed heavily on him. He wanted it more than anything, both to make his parents happy and for what he could do in a position of leadership, how he could help Mirran maintain its greatness. However, after several turns of standing, he still had not Impressed, and instead watched his younger brother I’rez achieve what he had been wanting for so long, to Impress a bronze, while he was left alone on the sands. But he was hardly idle between hatchings, finding comfort in the rich creative culture of his home. He took to studying art from a young age as an outlet for the stress he felt as a candidate and actually became quite talented over the turns. And to his delight, it was something his mother especially seemed quite proud of him for. Perhaps if he did Impress brown, her pride in him as an artist would lessen her disappointment. He became decently well known in Mirran for his talents and many a Mirrish rider sought out his talents in capturing the glory of their dragons on canvas.
He is nearing the end of his candidacy now, however, and feeling the pinch of time. In all his worry about possibly Impressing a brown he never once stopped to consider that he might never Impress at all. He has no idea how his parents might react to such a failure and is absolutely terrified to find out. Especially after Mirran’s most recent hatching, in which his youngest brother left the sands with a bronze at his side, leaving him standing oh yet again, he is beginning to feel the weight of parental disappointment settle on him. How could he not have Impressed yet? Is there something wrong with him?
So it was a terrifying day when his father summoned him to a private meeting. His mother was there as well, and it was just the three of them. He was hardly expecting the task he was given, and felt sure that being sent away was a punishment for his failure to Impress thus far. His mother assured him it was no punishment, only that he was in a unique position to do what they needed. But it was his father’s whispered words as they parted ways that chilled him. If he wanted to redeem himself, he would give him Mavros, one way or another. And so he and several other innocuous candidates were transferred to the rogue Weyrhold, in trade for the next shipment of precious redwood, Kisoraz wondering just what his father meant exactly.
