Melana and Gold Sularenth, G'rett and Bronze Mastromideth
(Timing Back Flight Aftermath)
(Timing Back Flight Aftermath)
The flight could have gone better. Without a herd for the Golds to blood on, the length wasn’t nearly what Melana had hoped for. She wanted a long flight, with only the best catching her shining Gold, and many eggs on the sand to prove her standing. In the end, the flight has lasted barely the time it took to breathe in a few quick breaths in her mind, but Sularenth stayed aloft long enough to wear down most of the males before she finally relented to her exhaustion and let herself be caught. Okay, ‘let’ might be putting it nicely? But the catch was made, and Melana and her Gold gave themselves over to the winning Bronze pair with little resistance.
She’d wished the morning had gone as smoothly.
It had started out nice, at least. Waking up with that soft kind of sore that was the trademark of a good night. Sularenth’s presence had been a sated but grumpy aura on the edges of her thoughts; warm arms had been around her, her back pressed against the wide, bare chest of the Bronzerider that had claimed them. I could have picked better. Sularenth’s normal bitter, sarcastic tone was tempered for the moment, and Melana smiled. ‘I’m sure they will be wonderful hatchlings, Dear one. Rest now.’ As the Dragon’s thoughts drifted back to sleep, Melana really hadn’t planned on doing the same. Not with such a handsome man as company curled beside her.
But maybe she should have; the moment she’d rolled over, she’d disturbed him. She’d given her best sly smile, big eyes scanning his face as he woke, her fingertips tracing little designs on his bared chest. “Good morning.” She tried to sound alluring, tempting, wanting the Bronzerider to want to stay with her. Why wouldn’t he? She was a goldrider, after all? Sularenth was the biggest Gold Mavros would boast for turns. His Bronze would father her maiden clutch in this insanity, and if he played his cards right, it could be more.
The man looked at her, blinking away, and then closed his eyes and groaned. His hand came up, cupping over his eyes as his fingers pressed against his temples. Melana frowned. “What’s wrong, G’rett?” The Bronzer gently caught her hand, pulling it away from his skin and rolling her onto her back. Melana smiled, thinking that he was quite interested in what she had to offer, but instead, she watched as he pushed the covers back and climbed out of the bed. “What are you doing?” “Finding my clothes.”
Melana frowned. “Why? You don’t have to go.” G’rett gave her a look, one that was dark around the edges. “Yes, I do.” But… why?! Mel didn’t understand it, sitting up in a huff to watch the man collect his trousers from where the flight lust had flung them. “You can stay. I’m not going to make you leave.” Maybe if she tried a different tactic? G’rett didn’t look at her, leaning a hand on the table in her room as he pulled the trousers up and buckled them around his hips. “No, I need to go.” Mel didn’t like that tone, she gave a little pout, hoping that the man might change his mind.
G’rett pulled his shirt on without looking her way, and she gave a little kick at the bed. “What is your problem?” The bronzer finally gave her a look, something moving behind his eyes she didn’t like at all. What? Pity? Distant? What was his issue?! “If you need Mastro to do any hunting for her went she clutches, let me know. I have to go.” And before she could say anything else, the coward of a man collected up his boots in his hand and the rest of his things, leaving her alone in the mess of her bed.
As the curtain that covered the exit dropped closed, Melana’s throat tightened. Grabbing one of the pillows, she flung it with all her power at the doorway. It bounced off the wall near the curtain, harmlessly flopping to the floor. She was beyond upset; so close!! She almost roused the Gold, trying to order her to drive the Bronze on the ledge with her away, but she stopped. He said if she needed… Still fuming, Melana flopped back into the blankets and pulled them around her. She could still get him. It might take a little work, but as long as Sula had his dragon, G’rett couldn’t escape her could he?
