NAME: Grint
RANK: Weyrbrat
AGE: 8 Turns (born month 2)
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Eventually homosexual
DRAGON: ---
WHER: ---
PETS: Blue Polo, bronze Tyger
APPEARANCE:
Grint is very lean, with the makings of a thin but agile man. His features are very angular, with a pointed chin and a head full of reddish-blonde hair. He is around 4'4", and will obviously be rather tall when he grows up. He has large ears and thin eyebrows, the ears often being a point that bullies latch onto. Grint is a gangly kid and will never truly grow out of his boyish look. He has deep brown eyes that are bright and wide, though usually they are locked in an expression of fear or boredom. It is not uncommon to find his face streaked with dirt or his hair clumped with mud, for various reasons.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Grint feels unloved. Because of this, he tends to strike out and act up, often sticking his nose where he shouldn't. He acts unruly and wild, often getting his older brother in trouble. But he just can't help it; he tries to get the attention and love he craves so desperately. Unfortunately, it often doesn't get him what he wants, which just angers him and drives him to try again. He is quite defensive and shelled off, forced to develop a sort of shell from an early age. He doesn't let emotions show, at least as much as an 8-year-old can manage to hide. He wants to seem tough, to seem like a true boy, but he can't find a way to be accepted by his fellow males and it frustrates him. This leads to bouts of anger and frustration where he is especially uncontrollable. He looks for trouble in all places and tries not to feel remorse when he gets that trouble.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Grint is adventurous, finding creative places to play around. If you manage to get past his shell, you'll find a kind boy who just wants to help out. He is horribly curious and quite stubborn about it. If you want to explore someplace, he'll be quite happy to traverse it with you. He sees the world brightly and creatively, if not with some caution. Get to be his friend and you'll earn his unyielding loyalty. His good traits are often repressed by his bouts of bad behavior, but there is a good soul hiding beneath the bad. And, the most important thing; he loves dragons. He admires them, but specifically, he loves greens and blues. Sure, bronzes are high and mighty, but greens and blues are the underdogs, the secret heroes that are hidden by shiny hide. He feels he identifies with them, though this is more of a subconscious thought process. He dreams of someday finding his green or blue and helping to save Pern.
FAMILY:
Brother: R'syn of brown Aessoth (+12 Turns, adoptable!)
HISTORY:
It was a lovely love story between Gordyn and a bronzerider's daughter, Setia. A wholesome tale that one may read and be satisfied, as the couple would soon marry and have their first son. However, the book would end with that happy ending, ignoring the tragedy that was to come. The two had their second son, who they named Grint. It seemed all and well, with Grint developing healthy and the family without any problems so far. Then, when Grint was just a Turn old, the pair died of an illness soon after being diagnosed by Healers. In the dead cold of winter, their deaths left 13-Turn-old Rosaryn to take care of his little brother. He had no idea what to do, so they fled from their home in Nabol to High Reaches Weyr in search of a better life. Just a mere Turn later, Rorasyn Stood for Ferrith and Golmeth's clutch, and Impressed brown Aessoth.
Grint grew up as a tool for other boys to establish their standing over him in the unfairness of children's hierarchy. Despite using his brother's brownrider status as an attempt to protect himself, other boys relentlessly bullied him. Well MY daddy is a BRONZERIDER became an iconic line for him, as it was often bronzer's sons who went after him. R'syn was often too busy to see him, being that he had drills to attend. Even when he was around, he had no idea what it was like being a parent. Grint was missing out on the love and attention other kids got, especially from their mothers. He wondered if he had a mother or even a father. When he was five, R'syn decided it was fine to tell him the truth; his parents were gone. Well, he didn't say they were dead, just gone and never coming back. Grint refused to believe that they weren't going to come back, and he would constantly be on the lookout. When he was six, R'syn found him a firelizard egg to Impress to, showing that he could be nice sometimes.
When he turned eight, he'd gotten in serious trouble by hitting the Weyrleader of High Reaches right in the nuts. E'vamel was furious, and he'd had enough of R'syn and his brother's antics. Well, it wasn't like the brownrider did anything; he was just blamed for Grint's actions since there were no parents to blame. He was forcefully transferred to Mavros, and he'd dragged Grint into his weyr and packed their things. It would be the first time he ever sat on a dragon's back, and with the new coordinates, Aessoth went between to the rogue Weyrhold.
Mavros would turn out to be similar to High Reaches, when it came to the boys. Grint would find himself confronted with bullies again, and one instance he'd gotten himself in trouble with them for expression an opinion of his; that he wanted to Impress blue. He was being made fun off by a particular bronzerider's son when someone intervened. A girl. Azora, the Weyrleader's daughter, fended off the bullies and helped Grint out. She instantly earned brownie points in his book, despite her being female, and he sure hoped he'd run into her again.
