Captain Treyjen
avon thought you might want to throw D'nel in ;) but don't feel obligated xD
While Treyjen much preferred the more bawdy fisher caverns, where the salty smell of the sea permeated the stone and didn't make him feel quite so claustrophobic, the fisher population was also a deal less... naive. It seemed to Treyjen about half the population had turned pirate, had taken to less than moral practices in order to survive, but the weyrfolk generally retained their innocence, such as he saw it.
Therefore, they were much easier targets.
Treyjen may support the Weyrhold as a whole, but that didn't mean he particularly gave a shit about most of the individuals living here. In the end, his own life, his own desires, came first. And right now he was looking to score himself some easy extra marks off people who wouldn't know any better.
He strolled into the Weyr commons and glanced around, making his way over to an empty table and pulling out a deck of cards, shuffling them absentmindedly as he surveyed the other occupants of the area, sending a few friendly smiles at people who made eye contact. After a moment, two men made their way over, asking if he wouldn't mind if they played, “Of course not, hard to play on your own, after all.” He gestured for them to take a seat, allowed one of them to cut the deck, and dealt. No need to start out placing bets. Let them get comfortable first. Throw a few bad hands while it didn't matter. Build their confidence. Hopefully one of them would be the first to suggest they start placing bets to begin with. He could be reluctant, after all he'd have been playing rather poorly, but in the end he would acquiesce to the request. Easy marks.
"I'm Yarren, this is Lehyos," one of them introduced themselves, "Don't remember your face. What brings you to Mavros?"
"Name's Treyjen," he introduced himself simply, finishing up the dealing, "I'm a sea trader, here bringing you all some much needed supplies. However, I'm just trying to have a bit fun at the moment, while we've got a chance to be ashore, so I'd rather not talk work."
The other men chuckled, "Right. Well met, Treyjen."
"Well met," he agreed, picking up his cards and allowing the slightest of frowns to pull at his lips as he surveyed the cards. Let the games begin.
