What are you doing, Liesolmine?
The green's sleepy voice entered Lie's mind even as she tried to be cautious and quiet, but had instead tripped over a basket of clanging objects, as one does. Hawey wasn't sure why hers was gathering a myriad of different items that, to the curious dragon, seemed to have no purpose. A scarf? Two scarfs? A heavy cloak? Well, it was cold... but... no boots? Hawedith's head tilted, eyes whirling rapidly as she attempted to figure out what hers was doing.
Liesol walked over quickly, and kissed the dragon on the top of her muzzle. Hush, now, Hawey. I know you don't remember these kinds of things well, my love, but I'm just heading out for a while.
Hawedith's sleepy stare focused, and the green immediately tried to get to her feet, though Lie's gentle push against her nose, pointedly but not with any real force, gave her a pause.
But don't you need me to come protect you?
Lovely, I've done it before, and no harm has come to me.
Hawey tilted her head. You will be back?
Of course, Liesol said, fondly. I always come back.
A yawn escaped the still-growing green. Liesolmine, on an adventure by herself! That is good... have lotsa fun...
The thought was barely more than a murmur, so tired from growing all the time and all of their lessons. Though, really, when had she gotten so big? It made Lie's heart ache with fondness and even a little bit of sorrow.
Liesol wrapped both scarves around her head, so that only her eyes peeked through, and snuck quietly out the door even as Hawey fell back to sleep. She spared a quick glance at her life partner, before making her way through the girl's half of the weyrling barracks, then into the commons...
and then... and then...
sneak sneak sneak
Her heart leapt to lodge somewhere in her throat as she crossed over to the boy's side. Oh, how exciting! She never got over the thrill and, yes, guilt of this part. She wasn't allowed here -- but she'd only be here for a moment.
Approaching the door she wanted, Lie took a deep breath. Then raised her hand and gingerly tapped out The Code. Taptap ... taptaptap! And stepped away, eyes wide, cheeks flushed in exhilaration. It was time for her favorite thing, second to her green lifepartner, her true love; ART!
