Do I have to? Why? Moth was having a very nice time sunning, had secured herself a prime spot on the rim. Not the easiest thing to do, with no ledge of her own. And she was enjoying it, after having drilled all morning with the wing. She supposed she'd be up for another flight in a Candlemark or so, but for now she was resting. Sharding stamina. She had important business to attend to, she did not need a bath.
Because your hide's dry and it'll crack, Y'ril replied. They had this conversation every time and it always ended the same way, with them heading to the lake, Moth sulking all the while, only to forget again by the next go round.
No it won't. I'm fine.
Sure you are, Y'ril replied as he walked straight up to her, supplies in hand, buckling her riding straps with casual efficiency, But don't want the weyrleader looking at us funny now, do you?
Weyrleader gave 'em trouble enough as was, thought he was better than them just 'cause his bronze had flown a gold or something. Well, they'd show him. Moth was going to go to drills the next day gleaming with health. GLEAMING.
Snorting, Moth launched herself off the side of the rim, grateful enough to be near the top. No sense in whining about this with other dragons around, if he was going to make her do it anyway. Discord wasn't good in a pair. Besides, had he seen that takeoff? Looked perfectly natural, normal. Any dragon could have done it.
It was an excellent take off, Y'ril agreed. And now that they were airborn she was flying with ease. Good, didn't seem too tired for a short flight, Fly straight or between?
Of course she was flying straight. She didn't need between to go to the sharding lake, it was close. She might be small, but she wasn't weak. By the time she got to the lake she might have been a bit tired...But she'd flown straight, hadn't she? Descending rapidly and falling in with a bit of a plop, she didn't even feel too badly about splashing Y'ril. This was a stupid exercise.
