NAME: Talaria
RANK: Wingrider
AGE: 23
GENDER: female
ORIENTATION: heterosexual
DRAGON: Green Tanith
PETS: N/A
APPEARANCE: Talaria is quite pretty. She has long, slightly curled, raven black hair and the same stunning light blue-green eyes as her brother. Her skin is slightly dusky and dark freckles appear here and there. She has an athletic build with soft, feminine features. She stands at five foot seven and moves with the lithe and purposeful grace of a hunting wild cat. She has a strong presence that does not often go unnoticed.
PERSONALITY FAULTS: Talaria can often be arrogant and she has quite the ego. She could often stand to be knocked down a peg and gets on a lot of people’s nerves, especially those that are not Weyrborn. As a Weyrborn, she can be a bit of a know-it-all when it comes to Dragons and how things work in a Weyr and reminds those who are not Weyrborn of it often. If she’s stuck up, she certainly doesn’t try to be and is not really aware of it. She shares her brother’s tireless stubbornness and once she has made up her mind no one can change it, though she is much more vocal about it. She is not afraid to speak her mind and give her opinion even if it was not asked for or wanted. She needs to get over the self entitlement that she does not believe she has. She also has a bit of a problem with authority and could use a lesson in humility and obedience. With her ‘Alpha Female’ personality, she finds it hard to take orders quietly. She does not forgive and forget easily. If you betray her, you can expect to feel the full heat of her wrath and she will NEVER allow you back into her life.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: She is definitely a leader, not a follower. She is independent, opinionated (which isn’t always a good thing), and has self-confidence to share. When she wants to learn, her hard-headed alpha personality gets buried beneath an active and attentive student personality that is very unlike her. She is a fast learner because she focuses her full attention on what is being taught, if indeed she WANTS to learn it. It is the only time she easily takes direction and orders for she is willing to do anything to reach her goals. For those that can handle her rather overwhelming personality and become friends with her, she becomes very loyal and protective of them. If your hurt one of her friends, she takes it as a personal injury and you can be sure she’ll get back at you, and with her intelligence and creativity you will never expect it
FAMILY: mother – younger brother – R’zon, mother – Rozonia (deceased), father – Tu’lar (rider of Blue Vangarth, deceased)
HISTORY: Talaria was firstborn and only daughter to Tu’lar, a Bluerider, and Rozonia, a woman who worked as a cook in the Weyr. From the very beginning she was a strong-willed and curious child who demanded knowledge and learned quickly. She can still remember the awe she felt when her father came to visit them on Blue Vangarth for the first time, and at that time was when she promised herself she would become a Dragonrider. Shortly after, her little brother Roruzon was born. While he was still an infant she found him quite annoying with his constant crying and mostly tried to stay out of earshot of him, but as he grew she came to love him and even helped her mother to teach him how to read and write. She tried to teach him other things too, and enjoyed being something of a mentor to him, teaching him the basics of everything that was going on around him much to their mother’s amusement.
She absolutely adored their father and the best days were when he visited them with his beautiful blue Dragon. She never really noticed that he paid her more attention than Roruzon, nor did she realize how much it affected her little brother. When she was 10, upon her begging and pleading, T’var took her on a short flight upon the back of his Vangarth. She had never felt more alive and the memory of that first flight beats strongly in her heart to this day.
In the few Turns before the family left with the rest for Mavros, Talaria took to observing people of different professions, true to her curious nature, and found herself quite interested in healing. She began helping any way she could if only for a piece of knowledge she could take away from it. She became something of an unofficial apprentice healer in the Turn before leaving for Mavros. She decided she might combine her two loves, of Dragons and healing, and try to become a Dragonhealer, though before she had given it much thought her family traveled to Mavros and shortly after, her mother and father perished in the Threadstorm. Her parents’ deaths strengthened her desire to become a Dragonhealer.
As a Candidate at Mavros she began to learn Dragon Anatomy and made sure to speak with Dragonhealers whenever possible to learn more. She stood for the first two hatchings and did not Impress, but instead of sulking or getting disheartened she just used the free time she had that would have otherwise been taken up by caring for a Hatchling to continue learning. She's Impressed Green Tanith at Mirran, the Green she didn't want, and quite a lot of resentment went her dragon's way for her not being able to focus on learning dragonhealing. Now that they’ve graduated and she doesn’t need to focus so much on Tanith, she’s gotten back into really studying Dragonhealing under Mavros’s dragonhealer Zenelle.
