They arrived promptly on time, as they had been commanded. Oxyoth was no graceful beauty in the air, but even he must have cut a majestic figure above the hold. He landed with only a light jarring for his rider but would not be pleased by that, his mind caught up with other matters.
I do not know why they sent us when we are not what the Lord and Lady Holders will want to see, Oxyoth droned, they always want bronzes. Some of them even want for a gold to deliver news. I wish you had convinced them otherwise, mine.
D'rave patted his neck fondly, before climbing down from his back. Strangely interested in other humans, and perceptive, but jays he could be a negative nag. Even if no one wanted the 'fat, mopy blue' to bring them information, which was always a possibility, it was best to assume that they did and not worry about it.
"Hush now, you dreary ol' wher. Of course they'll want to see us! We bring great news. Months ago, no one could have predicted Mavros would have two healthy golden babies on the sands. I know a fellow or two that earned a great amount of marks on that bet."
Two golds Oxyoth's wings swooped up and he pressed them against his sides, his neck stretching as the blue glanced around him. It is no cure for the problems Mavros is facing.
"Be proud of what good there is, Ox, don't complain about what isn't..."
D'rave was distracted as the blue swung his head around, almost violently. "What?"
There is someone here. A girl. I can feel her. She is strong. Oxyoth almost looked fired up, the peaceful colors in his eye brightening. It was a strange thing to see. D'rave laughed, pleased. But they were not here for a Search...
He placed a hand on the blue, to calm him. "No, Oxyoth. We have duties. We do what we were told to, alright?"
Oxyoth glanced at him. She is pretty.
D'rave smiled. "You don't know that. You're terrible at that part. Don't try to manipulate me, you are not very good at it. Just go over and mope somewhere until I am done greeting the holders, and try not to drown yourself in sorrow or self-pity. Deal?"
The dragon took the teasing without any change of mood, though it was obvious he wanted to go chasing after the feeling, he did not move. Oxyoth was, above the rest, a good dragon.
The bluerider looked around him. Although they had announced their presence, none had come to greet them. He sighed. Oxyoth was right; they weren't a pair that had people throwing themselves at them--besides some interesting, hmm, dreams that he'd had.
D'rave shrugged. His sense of pride had been long ago squished by Mirran and, frankly, he was better off for it.
The bluerider walked into the hold, leaving his blue just slightly outside of it. "I need to see the Lord and Lady Holder please," he said, spotting someone almost as soon as he'd made his way in.
