News While Mavros awaits the next gold to rise and take Karredy's place as Senior after her abdication, the Lord of Jask Hold celebrates his wedding with a grand gather and the Weyr attends for some much needed fun and relaxation, as well as to perform in dragon races as part of the wedding celebration.
Ny'x was leading the way, but she felt like she still had to keep up with the energetic woman. She would get along great with Siorreya, of that the brunette had little doubt. She would have to introduce them at the gather.
“I’m sorry again about Nimo, he can be so… bashful.” Ny'x had a ruder word but supplanted it with something kinder. The bluerider loved her bonded, but how she wished he would come with her into the world. “But you will love Muze, she is a sweet as they get. And Rylath is just like her, just dragon form. Oh, and then there’s Siorreya and her dragon, I’ll introduce you at the Gather, I think you two will be fast friends. You have a lot in common I think. But watch out for her dragon. She can be… Mischievous isn’t quite adequate for her.”
She looked at Ceela, and she could swear it was like she was leading her. So weird. They came quickly enough to Muze's weyr, and she called in, "Hello there, Muze, Rylath? We are coming in!"
She couldn’t keep the skip out of her hop. She had avoided wearing heals or any sort, she knew dance instructors said they helped, but she felt they hindered her. Not that she couldn’t handle heals, but it did seem to dampen her movement. Like- skipping, for instance. “Oh, don’t apologize! He’s so sweet. Dragons come in all sorts of personalities, like humans. Reminds me of a handsome brown dragon that went back in time too! He was quite flirtatious.” She remembered how the rider had also apologized for their dragon.
Her poofy dress swished as they traveled and she couldn’t help another variation to her skip and hopped. The dress she’d chosen was an old one, she’d save up for a new dress for when she impressed. Yes, when – not if. The dress was sleeveless, the white fabric hugging to her waist and then curved outward. The white transitioned into a steely blue and opened like a tent in front around her knees to make for easier maneuvering. It was one of her favorite beach dresses and it very much reminded her of the ocean. She was wearing a jacket and pants under her dress for the ride, but they’d be coming off as soon as they landed.
“I’m very excited to meet your friends.” She responded, trying not to be distracted by the fact that they’d be at a gather soon. She was excited about the people too, and it didn’t hurt that she was getting to hang out with dragonriders. As excited, as she was to meet new friends, she’d also have to find Yva – a candidate friend that she had clicked well with as well. Perhaps this Siorreya would be the same.
Muze looked down at herself, her hands running over the soft material nervously. She bit her lip softly. It was a simple tan dress. She didn’t own much, a dress from her mother. It was old though, so she had sought out something new, but simple. It was gray and long. It didn’t hug her frame, but a braided leather belt was tied around her waist to give it some shape.
She startled at the sound, even knowing that she was having visitors. “Come on in, then!” She called, smiling. She watched as the blue rider and a wavy haired blonde came in.
“You guys look ready to party.” She said in muted excitement. She was slightly envious of the nicer dresses, but she’d never had enough or cared enough to buy something nicer. You look beautiful. ‘How would you know what human beauty looks like?’ Muze asked with amusement, not scorn. Rylath turned to her human. You are perfect as you are. Rylath blushed and turned back to the other pair. “Alright, let’s go! Oh, I’m Muze – and this is Rylath.” She added for the sake of the blonde.
Rylath turned her whirling blue eyes on their guests and hummed a greeting.
“Pff, I can’t imagine Nimo flirtatious. You are right, all dragon's have a personality unique to themselves. And you must be thinking of E’san’s Norioth. I don’t know E’san well, but every lady knows Nori. Every encounter is an adventure with that one.” Ny'x chuckled thinking of the young brown. He was getting older, but not much had changed with the amorous brown otherwise. Ny'x had once found E’san to be very handsome, but her focus had shifted to another brownrider. An oblivious one. Ny'x was planning on making a bolder move with him this gather, if she found the opportunity. Maybe she would even ask Muze.
They were entering the weyr when N’yx looked back and said, “We’ll have to see if we can introduce E’san to you.” She turned to face the small woman whose weyr they had entered. Ny'x did a little shimmy, showing just how ready she was. Her white dress made a silky sound, and the violet flowers along her dress danced about with the movement of the skirt. “You bet we are!”
Then she flourished her arm towards her blond companion, “Muze, Rylath, this is Ceela, a new candidate. I found her in a lake. Ooh and guess what, she has already had an encounter with Norioth, that scoundrel.”
Ceela laughed at that, it was true – she had very much enjoyed her encounter with the flirtatious brown. She shrugged, “oh, no need- I’ve met E’san. Not quite as flirtatious, but almost as handsome as Norioth. I wouldn’t mind bumping into them again, to see how they’re doing. Perhaps Nori would like to dance.” She said with a smile and giggle.
She turned from N’yx to Muze who had put her hand over her mouth in a stifled giggle, probably imagining Ceela asking Norioth to dance. Muze cleared her throat, glancing at them both and Ceela noticed her appraise them stiffly. Ceela glanced at the girl’s simple garb, but made no comment on it. Perhaps Muze would like a companion to go shopping the stalls with, Ceela was sure she could find a nice scarf or something light to layer over to complete the look.
Ceela tucked this thought away and she twirled with her dress as N’yx shimmied. She was laughing lightly as she finished a twirl. "Well met Muze!"
“I have indeed.” She said with a smile. “And happy to be your first searched candidate!” She added on with a curtsy. Muze’s eyes widened, turning to N’yx.
“Nimo is a search dragon? That’s great N’yx!”
Ceela moved a bit more to go meet Rylath. “Nice to meet you too Rylath!” The speckled green’s eyes started to whirl blue and green. It glanced down at Muze before turning to Ceela and gracing her with her happy voice. Nice to meet you too. Ceela felt a little chill, like she always did when a dragon happened to speak to her, but not in a bad way. It always created that longing for the day she’d impress. “Oh! And what a lovely speckled hide you have!” She said, her eyes widened as she realized in the dim light of the weyr that the green’s hide was indeed speckled – like a sparkling jewel. “She’s beautiful.” She breathed, almost to herself.
You are very kind. Rylath hummed in delight and Muze practically beamed. “She definitely is. She’s also our ride to the gather. Shall we go?”
She joined in the laughter at the brown’s expense, enjoying the vision of Norioth dancing with Ceela, tripping the other dancers with his tail. Suddenly she envisioned E’san with a tail and a flirtatious brown dragon head, holding Ceela close. “Well if Nori can move as sweetly as he can talk all the girls will want to dance with him."
Ny'x felt proud of her sweet shy blue’s ability, but it also made her sad. It just meant he was accosted even more intimately by strangers then he could ever want. “Yeah, not sure Nimo would agree, but he will be an amazing search dragon. I mean look at his first specimen.” She stated teasingly, moving to bump her new friend.
She chuckled, and then clapped. “I am so ready. Please lead the way!” She climbed aboard Rylath, taking her seat carefully so as not to rip the white and violet dress, grateful she had remembered to wear layers underneath and over for the ride between. It would be weird showing up in her healer violet colors, and she supposed she could go shopping for some new gather clothes seeing as her main duty was being a dragonrider. Maybe she could card Muze along with her to see what they could scrounge up for her. She should have remembered the girl came from a modest background, she could have offered an older dress in the guise of getting rid of her ‘old’ clothes.
Once she was settled she pit thought into words. “You know ladies, I may need a dress that doesn’t scream healer, do you guys feel up to shopping the markets with me? Bubbly pies can be on me!” And maybe a necklace for Muze to dress up the tan dress. It wasn’t terrible. Just… Wanting.
Ceela shrugged and opened her hands helplessly when N’yx brought the attention to her being the first searched specimen. Neither of these riders knew about her journey to Mavros, not really. It wasn’t necessary, but it did make being searched all the sweeter when she felt like she’d worked hard to get searched. She had never doubted it would happen – just as she knew there was a dragon meant for her, like N’yx and Muze had found theirs. She was still jealous that they had gotten to go on the timing adventure but… she’d have her own adventures.
Her eyes brightened at the idea of finally going. She skipped behind N’yx and climbed up behind her. Muze came and took a seat in front of them. She glanced back at them, making sure that they were all strapped in.
Ceela noticed some emotion that passed behind Muze’s eyes at the thought of shopping, but it wasn’t readable.
Muze shrugged a shoulder non-committedly. “Sure.” She cleared her throat and readily changed the subject. “I can’t wait for the races! Those ought to be fun.”
Ceela smiled. “Shopping and races – and we can’t forget the dancing.” She bounced a little in her seat as Rylath turned toward the weyr entrance and paused momentarily at the ledge.
Muze turned back, remembering something at the mention of dancing. “You’ll probably find Sio at the dancing. She and I share a weyr, but she’s left already – I think.” Then Rylath dropped with spread wings that caught her and lifted her on a current. Ceela was surprised that Rylath’s speckles did not sparkle – though there was the slight reflection from a well-oiled hide. It reflected well on Muze as a rider, and Ceela respected that.
Soon they were hide enough and Rylath gave those riding her a soft warning. Here we go! And then cold enveloped them for a very short time. It didn’t matter how many times Ceela went between, it was very unnerving and not her favorite thing. It was the opposite of warm and feeling – everything that she loved.
Rylath circled down, let the three girls off, then went off to find somewhere to rest and maybe make a friend.
