Last night had been an event. Lepsuth had never felt so distant and yet so impossibly close, their minds linked so fully as she'd lost herself in her need as she'd clung to the brown that K'zar had little memory of what had followed, only vague flashes and pleasure and the knowledge he'd let himself go in a way he hadn't- in a long time, if ever. He hadn't been able to help thinking of Kyhon, not just the memories of his death but the moments they'd shared before: quiet moments hidden below deck, when he'd let his guard down and open up to the younger boy...
The following morning, he'd left the bed, going to bathe and regaining his composure. He hadn't returned, opting instead to go about his day as was normal; he ate, checked Lepsuth over for any dry patches and to make sure her flight the day before hadn't caused her harm- noting the scrape of a claw over her shoulder that he fetched salve for- and dutifully attended lessons planned for the morning. Lunch, though, was something he opted to take back to his weyr to eat in peace, enjoying Lepsuth's quiet company and the relative lack of noise as most of the Weyr crowded themselves into the Dining Hall.
He set the tray aside as he finished, leaned back against the green and vaguely wondered if he'd have time for a nap. Lepsuth's nose brushed against his knee and he reached to pat it. You should sleep. I will wake you if Sabanth calls for us. Another pat, gentle affection for her offer, and he'd settled further- only to open his eyes once again, faint annoyance flashing across his face, as someone knocked on the door.
Maybe later, he sighed as he got to his feet and crossed the room to pull the door open, keeping one hand on the knob as he met S'fin's gaze. "Yes?"
