L'rey : Bronze Codrath
It had taken too long to coat Codrath in the oil, even with the bronze being cooperative- starting from the nose and working his way down to the dragon's tailforks. At long last he dropped the oil-soaked rag back in the bucket and tugged a clean one from his pocket, wiping his hands clean while Codrath rose back to his feet and stretched out his wings before dropping his nose and pressing his nose into L'rey's shoulder for a moment. Then he turned and headed for the ledge.
He had only taken two steps when he froze with a yelp, and L'rey glanced over; his mouth dropped open at the sight of his dragon, standing in the sun... sparkling. The two stared at each other, stunned shock passing back and forth across the bond. After a moment L'rey moved toward him, splaying a hand across the slick hide and looking closer- tiny, individual dots of something clung to him. L'rey scratched at one with a fingernail, but it stuck, not budging an inch.
What is it? the bronze demanded, lifting one of his paws and peering at it.
"Glitter," L'rey replied. "But I don't understand..." He turned back to the bucket of oil he'd used and went to fetch it, tugging it out into the sun to look. Now, in the light of the sun, he could see the faint glimmer among the oil.
Your hands and arms, Codrath commented, and L'rey pulled back to look at them, a scowl crossing his face.
"Why don't you go wash in the lake?" L'rey suggested, wiping his hands on his pants and then frowning harder at his now-sparkling clothes to match his hands.
Do I have to? Codrath had spread his wings again, twisting them every which way to watching them shine in waves as they caught the light. Look, I'm shiny like my treasures! Where'd you get that oil? I want it all the time!
"I brought it up yesterday," L'rey replied, "Same place I get the oil every time. I don't get it. Did someone do this?"
