Muze;
Alyx
She grinned despite herself, somewhat relieved that Joia hadn’t withdrawn because of her slip. Her reaction was interesting and she couldn’t help think about ‘boys’ for a moment longer as she talked about the little effort that making a gift took. She nodded in agreement, but her mind was thinking about the boys and men she had worked around. She had never thought seriously about any of them in the way that Joia was blushing…
Muze focused back in at the sound of berries, that sounded delicious. She shrugged a shoulder lightly, still unconvinced that a basket of fish was a valid gift. Perhaps… she could learn to make a nicer fishing rod. Some people liked the fish, but lacked a good enough rod. She herself didn’t own her own, but it sounded better than a bucket of fish.
She listened as she talked about her experience on the sands and she felt her stomach do a couple of turns. Muze was young, but she could see the pain that she was feeling, and that she was trying to hide it. Perhaps it was the years of pain her father had unknowingly inflicted on her. She hadn’t really had friends though, only her brother. Joia had friends that had moved on with dragons, and she was still behind… It was something that was above she could imagine or think about… Having friends for one (multiple) and then having them move on, and having to deal with those feelings…
Before her mind could grapple the girl’s situation, she was noticing Coyli in her lap. “Thanks.” She said softly, looking down at the small creature trying to make herself as small as possible. “This is Coyli – a shy thing, avoids others unfortunately… Uhmmm, I think it’s been almost a turn? Not quite. I found her on the day I turned 16 turns.” She grinned, as she always did at the memory. It had been a special one, it had been her own – something her father couldn’t say no to… kind of like the day she left and came to Mavros. “She’s been my buddy, besides my brother…I guess I didn’t really have many good friends at the hold. I mostly hung around crude fishermen.” Muze cringed playfully, and did another side shrug.
“I guess that’s why when I was searched, I didn’t say good bye to anyone. I just… left. I guess I felt it was easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission from my father.” She grimaced slightly and laughed lightly, as if this made it better. But she had said it lightly and with more pride than she could have a month or so ago. She was glad to have left. “I do like it here, despite and because the differences.”
