BT Month 6
Hatching Cavern
Hatching Cavern
Melana and Gold Sularenth, G’rett and Bronze Mastromideth
It is Time. The voice invaded Melana’s mind, pulling her up out of her dreams with a start. She blinked at the dark around her, trying to remember where she was. Her room was lit low, the glows barely eliminating the scattered furniture in her room. Was this her room? It looked wrong… like many times before, it took several moments for the Goldrider to remember why the room didn’t looked right and why Sularenth wasn’t lounging on her bed. ‘Time? Now?’
Yes. The Gold sounded excited and angry all at the same moment, which made Melana give a short snort of laughter. ‘Okay, I’m up.’ Good. I have sent Mastromideth and his rider to collect you. If nothing else, that got her moving. Covers tossed back, feet hitting the cold stone of her floor, making her wince. She’d only gotten a few steps when she heard the talons on the ledge; she gave a quick rush of curses under her breath before she spoke loud enough for the man to hear her. “Give me a second, she just woke me up.” The Bronzer gave cough. “Trust me, I know the feeling.”
Melana laughed, quickly tossing on clean clothing and ripping her fingers through her hair. ‘Have you called the candidates?’ I was waiting for you. Melana frowned. ‘Don’t. I’ll be there in minutes.’ Fine. The woman could feel the Gold’s attention shift from her, taking the chance to put up a buffer before Sularenth mentally lunged along the other connection. Sabanth! Tsulocanth! Bring the Candidates to the Sands. NOW.
‘You could have been politer.’ I could have, but I did not wish to. I will not lose Mine or Danovelith’s young ones for manners. Now, where are you? Melana winced at the tone, the near command that the Gold did not understand why her rider was not there the moment she had been summoned. ‘I’m coming now, just hold on.’ Slipping her feet into the higher, soft leather boots (better than the low ones for keeping the Sand out of them) and rushed to the waiting Bronzerider and his eager mount.
Moments later, the massive shape of Mastromideth glided into the Hatching cavern. Melana glanced back to see the first of the greens and blues that would be bringing the candidates in banking in after them; even from the height of the dropping Bronze, the goldrider could already see some of the eggs shifting in the warm grained. The big bronze rumbled a greeting to the angry gold as he touched down; Mel was shocked that Sularenth didn’t snarl in return.
It only took a moment for Melana to drop to the Sands, then G’rett and his Bronze launched back off to claim a perch on the roughed out ridges above the Sands to watch. Melana jogged over the Distance to be next to Sularenth, hands reaching to run her fingers over the lines of the dragon’s head. ‘See? I’m here.’ Yes, you are. The Gold rumbled, her eyes focusing on the first of the candidates as they arrived on the Sands. Sabanth, tell yours to tell the rudely loud one I am watching him. Melana managed to choke the laugh off, but it was hard.
OOC: Here we Go! Feel free to have your candidate hop a ride on Sabanth or Tsulocanth, or any other NPC Rider. Or you are more then welcome to use your own riders if you like. The hatching is, as always, not the best timed, the morning twilight hour, so most candidates will probably be sleeping when they are summoned. Also, have them arrive at the cavern and take their place on the sands. Since there is no entry by foot to the Hatching Cavern, any other non-rider will need a dragonrider up to give them a lift too.
