Occasionally, but no more than once an IC month, I will post a Threadfall thread for members to participate in. Your rider characters are definitely flying against Thread more than once a month, to be sure, but we will only be playing out one or things would get far too chaotic, especially at the height of the Pass when they'll be flying against Thread some 20 times a month. All of our played Falls will take place over the Western Continent, where Falls last 3-4 hours, rather than the far easier and more common 1 hour Falls Mavros faces over the Isles.
I will post sign-ups ahead of time so I know who intends to participate and which characters you all plan on using. Currently, you can use up to TWO characters at a time during Fall. Characters you sign up with will be referred to as your Active Characters for the duration of the Fall thread, while those you don't sign up with will be Benched Characters and will still be there in the background. Your Benched Characters will be safe from any injury as you will NOT be rolling for them, but you also won't be allowed to play them as anything more than background NPCs during the Fall. However, should one of your Active Characters receive a Critical Scoring and be forced to leave the thread, you may then choose one of your Benched Characters to take their place as an Active Character. Likewise, if your play a blue or green in the 1st Rotation group, once they rotate out you may choose a new character to take their place as Active.
Each Fall will last 6 Rounds and everyone gets one post per round (there will be no posting order). In each of your posts you will make a post as normal with your Active Characters, but also choose one of 20 colors from the list I provide, one for each of your Active Characters. These colors will secretly correspond to a number 1-20 and will be randomized for every round of posting, meaning you could choose the same color every round and get different results. Picking your color is how you will 'roll' to see if your character gets Threadscored that round, and decides how severe the wound is. Your character will NOT be at risk for death or crippling unless you choose to interpret your roll results that way yourself. If you're uncomfortable with the random injury results, you absolutely do not have to participate in any Fall threads, in which case your characters will remain safe unless you wish to reference Minor to Serious scoring at any point in time. If you want to ensure your character gets hurt, you may choose to use an Injury Guarantee ONCE per Fall (NOT per character). Make a note if you are using this alongside their color choice and you will get a guaranteed injury in the next round (still a random severity). After everyone that signed up has posted for the round and chosen their colors, I will make my post starting the next round and reveal everyone's roll results. You may then make your next post responding to your roll result and choosing another color.
Everyone has 48 hours from the time each round starts to get your post in, as Threadfall threads are likely to have many participants and we're not going to hold the entire thread up for one person, regardless of the reason. If you do not post within 48 hours, you will be skipped, but may post in the next round. As you will not have been able to post a new color choice I will not roll you a new result, you will instead react to your roll result from the last round (in which you were skipped). Also be aware of what Rotation Group your blues and greens are in, as the 1st Rotation Group can only post for the first 3 rounds, and the 2nd Rotation Group can only post for the last 3 rounds (I will make a note when I start the round, when the Groups are rotating in/out to remind everyone).
As a tip for roleplaying in Threadfall, I suggest you keep in mind your dragons' stats. If your dragon has a 1 or 2 in agility, they obviously aren't going to be avoiding Threadscoring with any great feats of agility; they will need to rely heavily on Betweening and the more agile dragons darting in to help them avoid injury. If your dragon has a 1 or 2 in endurance, they are going to tire out quickly and might start lagging in flight; a tired dragon is not going to perform at its peak, meaning its speed and agility could suffer. If you roll for an injury, remember your dragon's weaknesses, as that is most likely the reason it was injured (not that you can't be creative and come up with a different reason instead~). Also reference the Mavros Wings and know which characters are in your Wing, as it is unlikely you'd be able to perform a quick Save on a character in another Wing as they are flying at vastly different altitudes and cannot easily keep such a close eye on each other.
Saves
Everyone also gets one or two 'Saves' to use per Threadfall (NOT per character), depending on the severity of the Fall, which allows them to prevent a single rolled injury to SOMEONE ELSE'S character, in order to simulate the teamwork and cooperation of a Wing. You may of course roleplay your character 'saving' others from close calls when no injury roll is made, but this is the only way you can prevent a successful injury roll from hurting a character. You should ask the character's player if they want to be saved before you do so, and if they agree, put an OOC Note under your color choice in your next post that you are using your Save and who you are using it on. For Mild and Standard Falls, everyone gets ONE Save to use, while you get TWO Saves for Severe Falls. You may also choose to 'split' your Save. In doing so, you trade your full Save in for two 'half' Saves, which allow you to lessen the severity of another player's roll, either from Critical to Serious, or from Serious to Mild (half Saves cannot be used on Mild rolls as that would prevent injury entirely and therefore count as a full Save). In the case of Severe Falls, where you are allowed 2 full Saves, you may only split ONE of them.

Color Choices Red Orange Gold Yellow Lime Green Teal Cyan Blue Indigo Violet Purple Pink Tan Bronze Brown White Silver Gray Black | Possible Threadscore Roll Results Critical – Your character and/or their dragon have received critical Threadscoring. They are unable to continue fighting and require medical attention immediately.
Serious – Your character and/or their dragon have received some serious Threadscoring. Medical attention is required, but they may be able to rejoin the fight after the wound is seen to.
Minor – Your character and/or their dragon have received some minor Threadscoring. After a quick jump or two Between, they are all right to continue fighting.
None – Through a combination of your character's quick wits and their dragon's fighting skills, they have both managed to escape any Threadscoring. For now. |
