NAME: B'rax
RANK: Wingleader of Breeze Wing
AGE: 46 Turns
GENDER: male
ORIENTATION: heterosexual
DRAGON: Bronze Gamath
APPEARANCE: B'rax is a tall man at 6' 2”. As an experienced rider used to the rigors that come with such a life, he is incredibly fit. He bears a wide, misshapen scar down along the length of the left side of his back from the Threadstorm of the first Fall. His hair is brown and kept short and he sports a light beard peppered with a bit of grey. His eyes are a pleasant shade of blue. He tends to wear simple, practical clothing, though he has grown used to finer quality fabrics in his time as a ranking rider.
PERSONALITY FAULTS:
Self Sacrificing Workaholic – While this can be a good trait in moderation, B'rax has been known to take it to an extreme. Everyone else always comes before himself and he has often run the risk of neglecting himself to the same extent as M'ton, but luckily he has Alinara to pull him back from the brink of self destruction, so it has never been able to get quite that bad.
Stubborn & Prideful – Though it has been tempered a bit with age, B'rax has a typical bronzerider's pride. And after so many stretches of basically acting as interim Weyrleader and advising Weyrleaders, B'rax is confident in his own opinions and rarely changes his mind on any matter. Once he is set on a course, it is nearly impossible to move him to change. He is also known to be a bit hidebound, and doesn't entirely approve of the Weyrleader's decision to make a greenrider his wingsecond, but the man is free to do as he pleases in his own Wing.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS:
Dutiful & Responsible – Pride and stubbornness aside, B'rax will still follow orders from his superiors even when he doesn't like them, unless they go drastically against his morals and beliefs. The hierarchy of the Weyr is part of what has allowed Pern to survive every Pass and he has no desire for his pride to get in the way of that, even if it is sometimes hard to swallow. His duty to Pern as a rider comes before everything else.
Loyal & Supportive – B'rax is immensely loyal to those he cares about, and in turn, to the things they believe in. He is an incredibly supportive presence in the lives of his family and friends and is always willing to help them fight for what they want, to push them to do more, and to pick them up and dust them off when they fail, offering nothing but encouragement to try again. He is also quite willing to take on a fatherly role to any young rider, offering an ear for venting and advice for problems.

Matani – sister, 39 – Journeyman Healer at Mavros

HISTORY: Tidewalk Weyr was still fairly young when B'rax was born, one of the first natives of the turns old Weyr. His mother and father were weyrmates and so he was fortunate to have them more involved in his life than many weyrbrats' parents. He had a wonderful relationship with them both, but his father was his role model, so it was only natural he wanted to be a rider just like him, and his little brother followed suit. He Impressed his bronze Gamath at 16 turns, alongside his best friend who became M'ton of bronze Moroth, the two of them Impressing the only bronzes of the clutch. While the two certainly competed as fellow bronzeriders, their childhood friendship kept things civil and sportsmanlike between them. They competed, but only to push each other to new heights. As bronzeriders, the two quickly developed influence in the barely 25 turn old Weyr.
Life moved forward, his younger brother Impressed a fine brown, the Interval continued. At 21, he welcomed his first son into the world, the result of Gamath losing a goldflight, and a flightmoth willingly seeing to his frustrations. He had a distant role in the boy's life, but he made sure his son knew him. He met Alinara several turns later, visiting his sister Matani where she worked in the infirmary, a newly made Journeyman Healer. Alinara was good friends with Matani, two turns older, and had taken the younger woman under her wing as she got used to her brand new responsibilities. Two turns later and he and Alinara had agreed to be weyrmates, 2 more turns and they had their first child, a girl named Raxalin. A son and second daughter followed. Life was happy and he spent as much time with his family as he could between his duties as a rider, which were hardly as extensive as they could have been seeing as it was an Interval.
Then the signs of the Thread's return began to appear, and the Weyr's leadership turned a blind eye. M'ton was furious. He did all he could to convince the younger C'dor to ready the Wings, to prepare, but the Weyrleader had been caught up in his Weyrwoman's lavish lifestyle, and he was not ready to give it up. Thread was not due to return for several more turns anyway, it must be a false alarm. So when M'ton and Oria planned their exodus of the Weyr, to found a new Weyr that would be ready, that knew their purpose, B'rax followed his friend, disgusted by his home's passivity. What followed was tragedy as a terrible Threadstorm fell over the Mavros settlers while they journeyed to their new home. M'ton lead the riders that followed them against it, but many perished. B'rax himself was lucky to come out of it alive, he bears a massive scar on his back from it.
Mavros had not been the group's initial destination. However, broken and injured as they were, it was where they ended up, with no choice but to make the best of it. B'rax's extensive injuries, and Gamath's own, kept the bronze from the chasing when Oria's gold Asurath rose a short time later. M'ton's bronze Moroth ended up winning the flight, fittingly, but the pair would not live to see the clutch. M'ton had been lucky to escape any major scoring during the Threadstorm, but with their forces dwindled so terribly, with so many injured and unable to fight, the next several Falls took their toll. The overworked pair eventually succumbed to their exhaustion, a mistake during a Fall led to scoring that sent them between, never to return.
B'rax stepped in where M'ton had left off. His friend had died for Mavros, for what they were working toward, what they were trying to accomplish, and B'rax was determined to see it through, and that none of the many deaths would be in vain. Over the turns since Mavros's founding, he has played an integral role in keeping the Weyrhold together, unwilling to give up on M'ton's legacy, though he has never once officially held the rank of Weyrleader.
