NAME: Zenelle
RANK: Wingrider of Zephyr Wing (Queen’s Wing), Dragonhealer
AGE: 42
GENDER: female
ORIENTATION: heterosexual
DRAGON: Green Verdath
PETS: N/A
APPEARANCE: Zenelle is short, perhaps 5 foot 3, but slim and wiry. Her wavy, dark brown locks fall to about her shoulder blades. Her eyes are a bright hazel that flash amber in the right light. She has a motherly air about her that often puts others at ease in her presence.
PERSONALITY FAULTS: She tends to panic a bit when dealing with dragonet injuries (obviously the worse the injury the more panicky she is about it) and although she still performs her job well enough, she loses her cool, calm detachment and becomes fretful and snappish, often causing alarm to the dragonet’s rider. This is due to her own dragon’s accident when she was a weyrling and how useless she was to help her lifemate; the memory haunts her with each new young dragon that comes to her, injured, and she becomes hard pressed to prove she will not be as useless as she was back then. She tends to mother everyone she meets, which some people find endearing, but others annoying and frustrating because it is hard to get her to take you seriously (unless of course dealing with an injured dragon). She tends to view everyone, regardless of age or rank, with a mother’s patient humor, which to certain individuals can be taken as mocking and insulting.
It takes a lot to really anger Zenelle, but if you get her to her first stage of anger, which she generally only reaches if you recklessly put yourself or others in danger (and is more a worried-anger than true anger), she has been known to explode into a rant until she either wears you down and you offer a heartfelt apology, or you feel no remorse and she moves on to the second stage of anger. At the second stage, she is the master of the silent treatment. Indeed the only way she would ever acknowledge you at that point is to help your dragon. (No, she will never truly acknowledge you again, and if you get her angry to this point then you deserve it.) She can be a bit scatter-brained when she isn’t dealing with a patient, which can make her seem a bit like two different people, for when she IS with a patient she couldn’t be more focused.
PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: Zenelle is very approachable, friendly and sweet. She exudes kindness and is very much the nurturing mother type. She is quiet, thoughtful, and quite witty. She is generally gentle and relaxed, easygoing, but put her to use with her dragonhealing and she easily takes control of the situation. Just like a mother reigning in rambunctious children, she is patient, but firm, and always calm. She assumes a role of quiet authority and performs her tasks with cool efficiency.

HISTORY: Zenelle was the first-born child of a humble Beastcrafter and his Healer wife. She was raised just outside of Southern among the runnerbeasts her father raised and bred. As the oldest of 5 children, it was sometimes left to Zenelle to care for her younger siblings if her parents were busy and she was something of a second mother to them all. When she came of age she became an apprentice healer in the fashion of her mother, who told her her nurturing instincts and ability to take control of a situation would make her a natural. At 17, the Turn before she was poised to become a Journeyman Healer, she was Searched and brought to Southern Weyr where she Impressed her Green Verdath at her first standing. The care of her Green took up all of her time and she abandoned thoughts of becoming a true healer, happy enough in her position as a dragonrider.
However, when Verdath had a horrible accident on her attempt at her first flight, breaking certain wing bones, a new dream began for Zenelle. She had been so useless to help her lifemate, she swore she would never be so useless again and made a silent oath to become a dragonhealer. Verdath was a long time in recovering and Zenelle helped her as much has she could every step of the way, watching and learning from the dragonhealers that tended her, her new resolve helping her to overcome her shock and panic. The dragonhealers humored her, impressed that she had regained her calm so quickly after her lifemate’s accident and was actually trying to be useful rather than just getting in the way. She was late in graduating from Weyrlinghood because she and Verdath missed a lot of training that had to be made up, but as soon as they did, she spent all of her spare time learning to be a dragonhealer. Since it was before Threadfall, she had much time to spare, and learned quickly.
Verdath’s injuries kept her from rising in her first mating flight, but from subsequent flights, Zenelle begot her four children and can hardly remember if any of them share a father or not. She, however, made it a point to try and be a part of their lives, visiting them as often as she could in Southern’s crèche and giving them rides on Verdath. Her eldest, her only daughter, never took too much interest in dragons beyond the general awe most dragonless people feel. She became an apprentice Healer, which made Zenelle just as proud of her as if she had become a Candidate, and she has moved to Journeyman rank recently. Her first son, N’zel, became a Candidate and recently Impressed a Blue at Southern’s last hatching. Her youngest son, having lived not even one Turn, contracted and illness that took his young life, despite anything the healers tried to save him. It nearly broke her heart and she became even more protective of Kyzen, her son of 8 Turns.
When she heard that Mavros needed an experienced dragonhealer she leapt at the chance to go. She wanted to leave the memory of her infant’s death far behind her. She suggested a transfer; after all, Southern had enough dragonhealers while Mavros was in desperate need of one, especially considering that Thread was falling. She had heard of the terrible tragedy that had befallen those first to settle on Mavros and she wished to help. She felt her talents would be put to better use there and it was soon decided that she would transfer. Her eldest a woman grown, her second on his way to becoming a dragonrider she could be proud of, she left them, taking Kyzen with her, unable to leave him behind as well when he was so young. The trio has made Mavros their home and Zenelle has been putting her dragonhealing skills to good use.
During Threadfall, toward the middle of the third turn of the pass, Verdath took a horrible Threadscore injury. She has healed, but will never be as she once was and is unable to perform the tricks and spectacular maneuvering she was once capable of. She is unable to last in Threadfall even the short time she could previously and the pair have ‘retired’ to Zephyr Wing, the Queen’s Wing, where Threadfighting is not as strenuous as in the higher wings and she is able to last almost as long as she used to when not under as much strain as she was in the higher wings.
