I do not know how they can stand living in caves like animals. Kylixia narrowed her eyes slightly as she surveyed what was to be her home for an unknown amount of time. At the moment though, it was looking as though seducing a dragonrider and staying with them might be a bit more preferable, especially given the fact that there were what looked to be well over a dozen beds in the damp cavern and at least half--if not more--looked to be occupied. The entire place smelled of the sea and dampness and despite the glowbaskets set in the walls, it was hardly a cheery place.
"How..." disgusting "wonderful!" Kylixia said with a smile as she glanced at the older woman who had brought her to the rather disappointing accommodations. She should have expected as much, however, as the Weyr wasn’t exactly supported by any of the other Weyrs or Holds for that matter. Yes, I will need to find myself a sponsor.
As the woman left her to settle her things—which had been tossed onto a vacant bed—Kylixia tried to settle her mind so that she could concentrate on her plans. Now that she was at the Weyr, she’d have to be doubly careful as the dragons didn’t seem to be as easily fooled as their riders. They must have similar abilities to my own; I’ll have to be more convincing.
It didn’t take long to unpack as Killy was a rather efficient young woman an once her belongings were settled she took a moment to inspect the bed beside her own and the items on the small table beside it. Naturally, having worked as a drudge before, she wasn’t a stranger to communal living, but for the past year she’d been a bit spoiled. Lifting her chin she moved towards the wall of the cavern and lifted a hand, her lip curling in disgust at the feel of cool, damp stone. If I didn’t have a very good reason to be here…
Turning from the wall she walked briskly across the cavern and through the opening into the shared area, sparing only a glance for what she’d been told was the boy’s “dorm” and started towards the common room. When she heard the footfalls of another, she paused, fingers curling in the material of her gown. Taking a deep breath, Kylixia’s features smoothed out and she looked for all the world like a beautiful, approachable and friendly young woman. Never let them know they have a tunnelsnake in their midst. The words of her mother whispered through her mind and she smiled slightly to herself, a bemused expression.
