PB: Andrew Lee Potts
"May gods stand between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk."
NAME: D’rew
RANK: Wingrider - Gale Wing
AGE IN TURNS: 25
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Bisexual - being weyr-bred and a blue rider, he’s quite OK with it.
DRAGON: Blue Sabanth
PET: Firelizard Brown Butterball
FAMILY:
Father: R’mand, Wingsecond at Benden
Mother: Melena, WeyrHarper at Benden
APPEARANCE: D’rew is of average height (5’7”) and build with dark hair of varying length (depending on his mood for the season) and dark eyes. His mouth is quite expressive and he is showing laugh lines around the eyes. He’s got a good singing voice and could easily take the duties of WeyrHarper if needs be. His eyes are friendly and there is a sense of mischief lurking just behind them.
He’s got a fondness for hats when he’s off duty and dresses in brighter colours when given the chance, a scarf or fingerless gloves, just because he can. His fashion sense can be called adventurous by the more conservative.
EDUCATION/SKILLS: D’rew can read, write and do math quite well since his mother is the WeyrHarper at Benden Weyr. He can also play drums, gittern or pipes and sing.
*PERSONALITY FAULTS: Despite being quite outgoing he is insecure and always wonders if people would like him. It can lead to trying too hard to make friends, which to some people might be a bit creepy. He can be stubborn when he thinks he’s right about something and isn’t always gracious in admitting the fact. Being weyr-bred he thinks he knows most of what there is to know about the goings-on of a Weyr. He can be opinionated and sometimes a little selfish.
*PERSONALITY STRENGTHS: When he does admit he’s wrong about something, D’rew will try and learn from the experience and use it in future. He’s clever and quick with a well-timed quip to diffuse a situation, though not ones he creates. He’s good with weyrlings and has a knack of explaining things in simple terms (at least simple to him). He’s friendly to everyone, trying to hide is insecurity and fear of not being liked.
FEARS: Losing Sabanth, Thread, not being liked, losing his voice and not being able to sing.
DREAMS: Writing a new ballad that will be popular, finding a mate and making the most of his new home.
*HISTORY: Being the child of a rider and a harper, D’rew was surrounded by the things he loved from the beginning. His parents had high hopes for him, with his mother doing a lot of extra harper training with him, in case he wasn’t chosen by a dragon.
His father did much the same thing, teaching D’rew as much as he could about dragons and Weyr business. It led to some conflicting desires in the boy, but he managed to please both parents to a degree. This led to his desire for people to like him, not wanting to disappoint his parents.
At 18, when he was finally chosen to stand on the Hatching Ground with the other candidates, he knew his parents wanted him to Impress a brown or a bronze (which parents didn’t want that for their child). Despite loving Sabanth without reserve, he felt his parents were disappointed in him for some reason and he was glad to be in the weyrling barracks and away from what he thought were their disappointed looks.
His parents related better to him as a rider and while they were still as close as weyrfolk could be, he was happy that they treated him like any other rider.
While he was proud to be a Benden rider, after seven years of being around the Weyr, he wanted to get away from his perceived failure which led him to pick a fight with his wingleader. Rather than being reassigned to another wing (who would want a troublemaker) he requested a transfer to Mavros where he could start over and prove to himself that he wasn’t the failure he thought he was.
IN THE EVENT OF YOUR SUDDEN, UNEXPLAINED DISAPPEARANCE FROM THE SITE AT ANY POINT IN TIME, WHAT DO YOU WISH TO BECOME OF THIS CHARACTER AND ANY CREATURES THEY MAY IMPRESS?
b. Turn them into an NPC who may be killed off or used for plot purposes but who will not be played by someone else.
